Bolek, let me hammer home a truth to you. I haven't read a newspaper in a VERY long time and I most certainly don't believe the crap that they put out when told to me by other people. In fact, I have been telling my students to reserve judgments as, simply put, they weren't there. Well, Interpol or another similar agency should be invited onto the scene for fair play and balance. They were indeed barred and restrained but maybe so they wouldn't tamper with anything or alter the site until the authorities arrived.

What equipment was allegedly removed? I find it hard to believe that Tusk, while disliking Lech as a President, would knowingly send all those people to their deaths. That's why I have to question his complicity. I think he is innocent, as the Russians are. Healthy cynicism I'd say. It's all about maneuvering and gestures and Putin is very good at it. The romanticism of the Poles is often their downfall. There are some pragmatic people here who see what is going on but many are jumping headlong into forging new ties with Russia. I applaud the sentiment but it has to be marked with caution.

Witnesses can be put in place to say any old thing. Being kids means that they have no axes to grind and Russians know that. I'm not saying they were planted there but it is suspect how Russian journalists had the monopoly that day. I heard that the cameras of Polish journalists were taken away.

Russia learned very well from 9/11 that conferences will be held, evidence will be ping-ponged back and forth and that allegations will fly. Still, can the American government be held accountable beyond reasonable doubt? Not when there is such blocking and denial I'd say.

Now, this is not to say that Russia did anything. I am suspicious but I think that they were not fiddling here. It would simply be too risky and so many experts around the world are working on it so they wouldn't want to be sprung.

Interesting article, Olga, thanks! The thing is, we will never know the full truth after investigations. The Omission Report in 9/11 shows that clearly. SB could have talked all those people into going, knowing full well what their fate was. However, it just seems a bit far fetched in this case. Geez, people, it's amazing how instincts and reading of evidence is so wrong. 9/11 was clear yet people still dearly clung onto the bogus official line yet here a conspiracy is suspected? They were told before not to fly there and that's the end of story. The Minsk authorities were prepared to take the plane and then they could have received other transport. It was very badly organised and such trips should never be hurried.
