Work / Telecommunication jobs in Poznan ? [6]

I guess something like 6000 PLN netto is really unconceivable right ?

Good times gone with the wind. I worked as IT guy till 2005 and left for electronics.
My manager took about 6tys but now it is unconceivable salary.

In any case, whether Warszawa, Poznan or Wroclaw is it true that 3000-3500 PLN netto is already a great salary in Poland ?

In Olsztyn (shole forgotten by God), experienced welders take 2800 netto, electricians 2500 netto so in bigger cities 4000 - 4500 may be considered as a great salary.

Law / Is it REALLY that easy to get car insurance in Poland ? [14]

In Poland ,the insurance company doesn't charge a premium for younger drivers

I doesn't true. I'm over 28 years old threshold, driving my cars for 21 years without any claim and OC is 300zł (about 60 pounds) per year. The same car for person under 21 y.o. and OC rise to 1200zł (about 240 pounds) per year.

This is funny...made me smile lol

Once I lived in UK, I remember that the questions like how are you drove me crazy.
I planned in my mind that someday I will jump like a tiger and suffocate my British neighbour ;)

Also I said 'nice to meet you' to one of the gents two doors up to which he replied 'OK.'

Pole thinks. OMG what she/he want again? Is she/he a nut/gay?

They do play music loudly and talk loudly, but in fairness all noise is stopped by 9pm

It is a habit from homeland. In my neighbourhood when 21:59 turns to 22:oo people start dialing police number ;)

Travel / Where to meet English speaking teenagers in Warsaw? [15]

when I came back to Poland I really started to miss speaking english

In 1992 in Norway I met a Polish babysitter. She was delighted that she could talk to someone in her native tongue again. Please note that Skype wasn't such popular as it is today ;)

uwonlić-uwonlić się- uwolnienie are there any words similair and how you use it?

We don't use uwolnić to often

uwolnić z więzów/zakładników

rather we use
wypuścić z więzienia/z klatki/psa na dwór/z rąk
wyzwolić naród/kraj/spod okupacji
wyrwać się stąd/z pracy/z domu/na wakacje
wyplątać się z długow/więzów/taśmy klejącej ;)

Life / Which sim card to buy in Poland? [30]

you mean Orange give internet upto 1GB for 20zl? what do you own for urself?

When you reach 1GB total traffic and have forgotten to purchase another 1GB they start to charge you as normal expensive rate so be carefull and don't top up much money.

First buy inexpensive starters (without signing contract) and check coverage in place. Then decide which provider.
I'm using Play Fresh as a backup connection in case my cable provider connection is down so speed isn't crucial. I suppose that PLAY Fresh works with EDGE and PLAY Online with 3G.
