We surely lost our lands in the east because of our own failure (starting the war), wouldn't you say so too?

Well, yes I would but you take for granted post war reality - two German states as they were!
In different circumstances - if Staling would had played it closer to the chest - you could end up in five different German states with little industry left.

The fact is that both sides :The west and the eat were treating their German states as they front line in the war of propaganda and economic might display. Both German states received huge subsidiary to their economy - its not like they had to strive by themselves.

Life / The "Rudification" Of Society - Is This Happening In Poland As Well? [146]

What I would like to know is - what are your thoughts on the grim mindset we see in so many ppl nowadays and do you notice this happening in Poland too?

In Poland rudification gradually worked its way from the gutters to upper echelons of the society during communist rule.
Comparing sorry state of youngsters to ante-bellum times and its chivalry was one of the preferred pastimes of the old generation!

Nationality depends on culture just as much as genes or where you were born.
So it depends, in some ways, on what culture you choose.

I feel in love with Lublin

The only town who somehow regained polish spirit the rest is graded down by post-communist attitude.

Here's my favorite photo, the castle in Lublin. The pic sort of looks surreal.

both occupant be it soviet or nazi used the castle to torture and kill patriots and innocent bystanders alike.

My trip was fantastic.
