UK, Ireland / Why English do not like Polish? [417]

I've thought about this for some time and wondered why the English, not the British as a whole, view the world with such vitriolic xenophobia. I think it's an Empire thin

I've read some rubbish here over the years, but sorry to say, that takes the biscuit. You get haters everywhere, but in the UK (and especially the England bit), far less so than in most places...

You're certainly entitled to your opinion, however far it be from reality. All studies, official and otherwise, shop the opposite - that Brits are among the least xenophobic in Europe and Poles are at the other extreme - like some stats for that?

News / Does democratic Poland guarantee it's LGBT citizens respect for human and civil rights? [1169]

Knowing how both were extremely brutal towards homosexuals, how can you say such a senseless thing?

Indeed. Not one word is grounded in fact or reality. It really does come across as an unhealthy preoccupation by someone who just can't accept that Poland, as with the whole European Union, respects the rights of LGBT people.

Maybe it isn't isolated to disliking only polish people, but most Europeans.

You can find xenophobes everywhere. Poland has plenty. The UK far less so but they do still exist.

News / President-Elect of Poland, Duda, rescues Eucharist [45]

Exactly. Some might think that that will win them either votes from a certain group or forgiveness from pretty much the same group. Let's see how tough he will be facing the rest the world when/if that happens.

Pretty well. We can be sure that they've got some sort of afera up their sleeve.

News / Poland's President-Elect Duda leads in public trust - CBOS poll [185]

Well, with Duda he can hope for Poland to get out of EU and start some economic growth,

He has zero influence on that.

without being dragged down by Western Europe's dead weight.

Don't forget a. where the EU subsidies (of which Poland is the biggest net recipient) come from, or b. where their markets are.

News / Poland's President-Elect Duda leads in public trust - CBOS poll [185]

So you accept that Duda was involved with the Ministry of Justice at a time of severe political interference in the legal process?

Something of a smoking gun.

Apparently he was employed there but that doesn't mean he was personally involved in every case.

Disingenuous in the extreme...

crud, grime and slime still contaminating Poland's public scene.

A fair description of the PiS flappers and their allies.

News / President-Elect of Poland, Duda, rescues Eucharist [45]

President Dud may be many things, but he isn't Islamophobic.

Yes, there is a recently-opened Islamic Cultural center in Praha (or the district at the other side of the river, as you wish). It was funded with saudi money. And at least 3 hectares of trees were cutted to give space to it.

Just in case you wanna visit it, it is at Wiertnicza 103. Probably is one of (if not the biggest) religious building in Warsaw nowadays.

This is untrue. The mosque on Wiertnicza has been there for many years, the new cultural centre isn't in Praga and no trees were cut down. And the President of Poland, to bring it back to the thread topic has visited it as an honoured guest.

UK, Ireland / Why English do not like Polish? [417]

I won't go into a lot of detail but over the last four years my husband is no longer invited to any social gathering and his friends no longer talk to him

We've lived with room mates that have tried to get me kicked out of the country, assaulted me, not made it easy to even use the kitchen to cook, use the toilet, stolen our things, etc.

Have you wondered if there might be other reasons for that?

They accept things and move on. I have also found through others that it is rare or difficult for British people to pick up new friends after they finish school. It seems they make childhood friends and keep them.

Not in my experience.

It's almost always difficult for expats to make REAL friends abroad.

Some people find that; I've had very different experiences.

giving head just using the gums (no teeth)

Vulgar, vulgar...

In Europe the main culprit is the EU which provides pervert advocacy groups with 2/3 of their funds

Aside from the fact that there's no such thing as a 'pervert advocacy group', except in your head, can you supply details of all this funding other than the nutty sites you normally link to?

Off-Topic / Polonophobe Alert: JIGGLE (@JIGGLEIN on Twitter) [12]

Yes - there are some amazing stories of bravery. Pre-war Poland was a huge melting pot of humanity. We should record as many of their stories while we still can.

Have a look at these sad pictures from another thread - they're from the thing in London the other day which that guy on Twitter mentioned:

Off-Topic / Polonophobe Alert: JIGGLE (@JIGGLEIN on Twitter) [12]

My point was that the Polonophobe just had to get his jab in

I don't think he's a Polonophobe really - just pointing out that next to our home-grown ones, the largest noticeable contingent at the demonstration were bonehead soccer hooligans recently arrived from Poland, waving those tasteless flags - but good that you pointed it out. If we sit back and do nothing about racism they just get worse.

Nice pictures!

Off-Topic / Polonophobe Alert: JIGGLE (@JIGGLEIN on Twitter) [12]

Nicki, I looked at that Twitter page and think you've got the wrong end of the stick. What you have to remember is that Polish Nazis (specifically neo-Nazis) do exist, they have the flags, the costumes, the anti-semitic slogans - very much like your white supremacists over there. And unfortunately they turn up to these demonstrations in London. Recently they attacked people ion a park and are also threatening to parade through Stamford Hill, the Haredi neighbourhood...

How did you come across the page.

But you would unflinchingly subject orphans to such people, than to a nomral married family seeking to adopt.

No evidence that it makes the slightest bit of difference. And certainly no reason for Poland (which it doesn't) not to respect rights.

I am sure gays and lesbians are not obsessed by heteros the way you are with gays and lesbians ;). How many of them have you interacted with? I am not saying you have seen on tv but you have really known. I bet 0.

One wonders.

News / Poland's President-Elect Duda leads in public trust - CBOS poll [185]

It's one of the most socialist manifestos in the history of the 3rd Republic.

On the basis of those 'promises' (oh, so easily broken...) the Dud is certainly more socialist than all but one of the leadership candidates in the UK Labour Party.

News / Poland's President-Elect Duda leads in public trust - CBOS poll [185]

It says a lot that in the last 25 years, Poland only really had a socialist government between 1989-1991 and 2005-2007.

Spot on, which is one reason that Duda is staying quiet and desperately trying to appeal to his party's raging core voters...

Bible, by Christians, Muslims

don't make the rules any more.

an artificial notion dreamt up by a bunch of fanatical perverts.

The Supreme Court of the United States of America? Her Majesty's Government of the United Kingdom, La Republique Francaise?

Bollocks!

Eloquent of you, and fortunate for those who favour equality that this is the level of the antis' response.

I wouldn't be surprised if Kukiz ends up being completely marginalised by the unspoken agreement of all the other parties.

That and the satirists will ridicule him into oblivion - have you seen his 'policies'? Plus he'll certainly disgrace himself in some way over the coming months. Duda likewise. Right now, he's keeping his mouth shut to avoid putting his foot into it as all PiSuarzy invariably do.

Plus the stalking horse PSL...
