Exactly!! I have a very understanding landlord that was reluctant to hike up the prices for so long. It's only 30m2 but it has a very modern look to it.

Well, I pay 950PLN for everything. I paid 700PLN for many years but the price of living has gone up, there is no avoiding it. 2,500PLN?? I'd expect sth special for that price! In Warsaw less but here for sure.

As an emerging entity whose faith and resolve will be sternly tested after the events of last month. Poland lost some great people, loyal servants to their respective causes. RIP!
Before Smolensk, Poland was moving forward in many respects, particularly with regards to GDP growth. Suspicion is rife and fingers are being pointed.

Well, humour increases life expectancy :) Hives disappear quick enough. Stress can be removed through distance, perspective and shrugging. Good luck to the OP, I'm guessing you didn't contribute to the stress and can thus bail out with dignity.

Ironside, I could give you the phone number of my Polish neighbour. We were drinking together for the first time last weekend (the night of the Pudzian fight) and he very much believes that Poles have a victim complex. I have to agree with him, many do.

Yes, they are well-versed in history and politics but anyone can discuss the issues of the day with varying vigour. It doesn't give them any higher standing in the overall scheme of things! Those into fruitful job creation are the ones that thrive!

I know what Rogalski is getting at here. Bear in mind that there is a certain type of 'patriot' everywhere that is just looking for a cause to latch onto. Us Scots can spot them a mile off. They tend to be insecure folk with shallow lives. Those tea-sipping morons with noses upturned, entering discussions that would bore the paint off of most walls.
As for the Polish equivalent of that, I just ignore them. I've actually taken to just sidestepping many questions. This isn't the Spanish Inquisition and I'm not gonna be at the centre of attention beyond my teaching duties. I'm no object of fascination and am most certainly not here for anyone's amusement.
I'm comfortable with who I am and can appreciate the good things in Poland. However, I don't overstate them and I see them for what they are. Many of the good things here, God and foreigners gave, not Poles :)

How is Cieszyń, does anybody know? I was planning on a trip there for the 4th time but the danger of floods is likely at peak point there. If not there, then the surrounding areas required to get there.

People will be with who they will be with. Many Polish women really like Polish guys, they speak the same language. Some Poles are not so patient with those that don't speak their language fluently so it's a major factor.
