Genealogy / Trying to find a town called Kadyz. [13]

There was a last minute change in the border negotiations after WWII that trapped them inside of Belarus

This is most surprising! Whereas the (forced) border exchange between Poland and the USSR in the year 1951 is pretty widely known about (the Ustrzyki Dolne area for the Belz area, now in Ukraine), I have never heard of another correction on the eastern border of Poland.

Life / ZUS / NFZ / Compulsory Health Insurance in Poland - where the money come to/from? [29]

składka zdrowotna and dobrowolne ubezpieczenie zdrowotne for sure

'Składka zdrowotna' goes to NFZ, 'dobrowolne ubezpieczenie zdrowotne' - what do you mean by this?

just to manage individual accounts of people

Managing individual accounts is not the essential activity of NFZ, I think it is already being managed by banks. Negotiating and managing contracts with hospitals and other health centers such as out-patient or in-patients clinics is.

Life / ZUS / NFZ / Compulsory Health Insurance in Poland - where the money come to/from? [29]

Where does ZUS get money from then?

You are right here, Kaprys, and Irony is wrong. The compulsory health insurance goes to NFZ and this money does not intermingle with the money in the general state budget or local budgets. That was so in the commie times and that is what PiS wanted was to go back to again. The NFZ had to be demolished under the scheme proposed by the current PiS Health Minister Konstanty Radziwiłł (herbu Trąby?). But then, after they had pompuously announced their intention to bury the NFZ completely, it all suddenly stopped and the government propaganda has been silent on the proposed reform in health financing ever since. So the hospitals and health centers still receive money from the NFZ (through negotiated contracts) which money come to the NFZ from the compulsory health insuarance (składka zdrowotna) and not from the state budget. The same applies to social insurance, but there the deficit is quite big, so the budget pours money to ZUS to fill the gap. Yet, the social insurance (ubezpieczenie społeczne) exists as a mechanism of financing people's pensions.

Genealogy / Slavs are descendants of Sarmatians? [600]

You have a lot of peasant-commie traits but I can overlook it

And you have a lot of post-commie traits and overall, you are just a pathetic post-commie figure who emigrated from Poland to Norway. This fact can't be overlooked by any means.

You are giving here some fairly precise facts as if you had some written records made by the Sarmatians themselves. What makes you think that:

- their origin is east of the Ural and not west of the Ural, for example?
- they originated around 2000 BC and not around 3000 BC, for example?

What about this one?

Yes, the 'tagi' explains it all. They pick up some picture and then try to assign an absurd and most unexpected comment to it. The painting taken seems to be a 20th century piece, but I can't tell by which painter.

Here are two other silly memes which illustrate their modus operandi. The latter one is a comment to the news announced on the 'Wiadomości' news bulletin on TVP1 being the main propaganda tube of the present 'good change' Polish government.

Ktosiu, why don't you post from Poland if you say you love 'our country'?

Is the sign acceptable? Not at all.

Calm down, calm down! The sign is perfectly acceptable as this is the property which has its proper owner and the owner is entited to name whomever he wants to be kept out of his garden.

The more worrying issue, however, is the overrepresentation of a certain class of members on this forum.

the PF may simply have a disproportionate number of Brits who hate Poland, in that number is Harry the Taxpaying Voter.

But obviously, it's just about Poles.

That is actually an interesting point. What if the sign were like this: NO POLISH OR EASTERN EUROPEAN BLOCK OR MUSLIM COUNTRIES FISHERMEN ALLOWED? Would that make any difference?

And it is not 'just about Poles'. It is about 'Poles and Eastern block fishermen'. This makes a big difference. Imagine the sign: 'No Polish Fishermen Allowed'. Such one would have been much worse and truly racist.

When will this deplorable hatred by the British against Poles end?

I don't think the British in general display hatred against Poles. Some of the Britas really do and the PF may simply have a disproportionate number of Brits who hate Poland, the taxpaying voter.

unapologetic and advertised act of Polonophobia

This isn't polonophobic at all. It mentions 'Eastern Block fishermen' along with 'Polish' ones. That means the chap may have had some bad experience with Eastern Block fishermen and most notably with some Polish ones. So the case is much more a culture thing than a racist thing. East European fishermen making and leaving large messes behind them - as Maf says - is the most possible cause for putting up this sign and I would do exactly the same if I were the owner of that land.

Fish are cold blooded delph, they have no feelings.

You are absolutely wrong here, Johnny. Fish as coldblooded as they may seem have feelings just as the rest of animals. Have you never come across the teachng of Saint Francis of Assisi (1182-1226), the founder of the men's Order of Friars Minor, the women's Order of Saint Clare, the Third Order of Saint Francis and the Custody of the Holy Land? His love for animals makes him being regarded as the patron saint of animals today and he would have certainly disagreed with your opinion that fish have no feelings.

News / EU confirms it will take action against Poland over court reforms [554]

for you to turn up now draped in a business-like toga of seriousness is just a role-play. something you're not very good at.

Irony, dear, your tirade against me simply sounds as if you have just graduated from primary school :-)

My first tattoo was of a polish eagle on my back. I got it on my 18th bday

Then to make you distance yourself from the bloody seriousness of the "Polish Eagle", here is a cartoon by a Polish artist who was born in Kraków, is Polish to the bone and has been living all his life in Poland. And he can laugh at Poland a lot for which he is very much admired by the Poles!

Nasz kraj, nasze zasady

If you said, "we Poles" or "Poland" then your tone wouldn't sound so patronising

'Patronizing' as irritating as it may be, in Dirk's case is in fact making up for the fact that he was alienated for so long from Poland and now he tries desperately to confirm his Polish identity which he may subconsciously jugde to have been partially lost. There is a nice saying in Polish "'być świętszym od papieża'" of which I'm not sure Dirk knows, but which seems to describe perfectly his attitude of a neophyte. Plus his young age is a factor that partially justifies the patronizing tone of his opinions and thoughts on Poland.

Reality and facts. If Polish MEPs engage in acts that are harmful to Poland that is a treason. It is self - evident!

Reality and facts cannot form opinions. Terms like 'harmful' or 'self-evident' are not facts. They are assesment of facts or judgement on facts

A majority of Poles support the party leader's party line.

Oh yes, I remember it pretty well from the epoch which at present is referred to as 'one that rightfully passed away (epoka słusznie miniona)'.

The fetish of those who are "democratically elected by polish citizens" begins to gain an ever bigger momentum on this forum.

Shall I remind you what you have been saying so far on PO who were also people ''democratically elected by polish citizens'?

a striking resemblance to the German judiciary system

That is not the case at all. You have just been listening to PiS propaganda for too long and tend to believe in everything they have to say. PiS propaganda manipulates people exactly in the same way that PRL propaganda did.

treason is obviously a crime and those people and politicians who had been doing it should be detained and judged.

Using that logic, you should be detained and judged since leaving Poland for going to live in Norway has clearly been treason on your part. If not that, then it is utmost stupidity to say that what the Polish opposition politicians say in the European Parliament against the Polish government may be called treason, the stupidity that has arisen either from living in Norway for too long or from listening to the dumb PiS propaganda all day and night.

It is simply an unmitigated attack on the freedom of speech rather than just an attack on the liberal media. Absolutely appaling and disgusting! Even the right-wing journalists and several PiS politicians are not "amused" with it.
