Love / Unmarried couples in Poland = pathology [310]

marriages in the US are at a 100 year low.

The general public should be aware that there is yet another reason for this. Men have awakened to the fact that marriage is a bad deal for them. They have seen their fathers, brothers, and male friends get shafted because of the unjust court systems which discriminate against men:

joannejacobs.com/2008/02/marriage-strike/

The first commentator (Patrick) spells out this double standard. Engineer-Poet's voice is also interesting as are many of the others.

Women have legislation, affirmative action, special programs, police, and lopsided domestic law behind them that puts men in a socially and legally inferior position, simply put, it's a modern day Jim Crow culture for the benefit of women. No need to beat around the bush on this one and it is mens' fault for letting it happen since women will push as far as weak men allow them to.

Love / Unmarried couples in Poland = pathology [310]

Possible case of sampling error methinks. In a marriage (harder to get out of) it's equally well attested by research that battered wives (and, OK, husbands) choose the path of least resistance, ie the abuse goes unreported.

I have long ago learned that so many things we 'think' are facts really dont add up. There are many more 'counter-intuitive' truths than we realize. Many of my links and facts in these forums often bring out a derisive response from those (usually females) who go with their 'feelings' about things which are usually culturally driven. Often, these 'feelings' are

in complete opposite of reality.

wonder what the statistics are for domestic violence in married and non married couples...

According to Richard J. Gelles, a nationally renowned researcher, the rate of violence is more than doubled in unmarried than in married couples, which was 15 out of 100 couples.

Additonally, "domestic violence cases disproportionately involved unmarried couples with lower than average education. Most were minority or mixed racial (black male/white female) relationships. Assailants were likely to have had prior run-ins with police."

Last, but not least, women initiate domestic violence as frequently as men but men rarely report it.

Dennis Leary

I saw him at the Chicago Theater a few months ago and was very disappointed. His act was merely gross, not funny. I only laughed a couple of times during his two long sets. He is a much better actor than comedian. His stuff was teenage humor. The other comedians appearing with him were much better.

Love / Do African or Afro- American women find Polish men attractive? [179]

I think black women are finding the concept of shagging, dating or even marrying a white man more and more attractive.

The Chopin Theatre which is located just a little north and west of downtown Chicago is owned by Zygmunt Dyrkacz who is married to a black woman named Lela Headd.

History / Poland provoked Germany to start WW2 by mobilising first [94]

Well, Bratwurst Boy, your stubborness is not a virtue but a character flaw. While I disagree with Ozi Dan on some issues elsewhere, I must say that he painted you into a corner in these threads.

It is more difficult to pity those who started a war and then became victims (by some definitions) because anything that happened after the initial aggressions is the fault of those who supported such ventures. Let's not forget the mass gatherings of Germans who were enthralled, indeed enraptured by Hitler and company. That stain is eternal.

Love / 'Battered husbands' - still a taboo subject in Poland [387]

So what's your answer then?

Be more specific. Is the attacker with a knife big; is the person defending him/herself slight?
Your example could be yes or no depending on the particular circumstances. In general, however, if a threat to life is perceived then it is morally alright to defend oneself, even to the most extreme measure.

Why ask me? Does it?

You are the one who assumed that I had no direct experience; I merely gave you an answer.

my comments were based solely on my experiences in practice?

...and therein lies your information gap. While personal experiences are important; it is best to overview as much information as possible outside of your domain which may be jaundiced.

I would have thought that if your observations in court aligned with your arguments you would have mentioned that, rather than relying on your blogs, stats and videos.

The fact that you ignore statistics and other reference materials only limits you.

I could also say all the studies you've put forward are anecdotal too in that they cannot be tested as to their veracity or otherwise.

Several hundred studies involving hundreds of thousands of individual cases cannot be considered anecdotal. If you don't understand this then you are the type of attorney who likes to play with words and definitions. I'd probably kick you out of my office as well.

I'd hate to be in the poor judge's shoes who has to make equal custody by virtue of a guillotine law....

Now you are losing it; where in modern society is there a guillotine law? I cannot comment on something that does not exist. This does though and in Australia;

theaustralian.com.au/news/nation/shared-parenting-law-brings-little-change/story-e6frg6nf-1225826082938

The above link should also help answer the premise that women (de facto) receive default custodial judgments when children are the issue.

if we adopt your model, no one would have to go to court because custody would be 50/50 automatically

Wrong (yet) again. I oppose quotas in any form. I merely advocate real equalilty and justice no matter where it falls.

Non payment of child support really irks me. Does it irk you?

The judicial system is cruel to men and often ignores their loss of employment. If a man truly cannot pay then is it justice to send him to jail? If he has the means to pay then he should. The backside of this however, is rarely addressed. Women frequently prevent visitation rights; not necessarily all the time but now and then and yet demand child support. Women are not put in jail when they do this even though it can easily be argued that young children have a need of a male parental influence even more than money. Also, how the money is spent by women is also rarely put to a court case (do women who divorce wealthy men after only a few years of marriage really deserve $20,000 per month for child support? Does the kid eat that much?) etc, etc.

I'm not really interested in your opinion but I am interested in the facts and material in support.

You are contradicting yourself. You've already stated that you wanted my personal experiences and suggested that the Fiebert studies are merely anecdotal. So which is it?

A quick edit; dare to read the whole article and examples it provides.

he-spearhead.com/2010/09/14/when-is-it-ok-to-punch-your-wife/

Animosities are part of the process. Women felt that way for a long time, so if men have a chance to experience it, it should create more mutual understanding,

This is female logic fellas but I suspect you already know that. Evidently aphrodisiac agrees with this premise which parallels hers:

"Men who are unjustly accused of rape can sometimes gain from the experience."
This shocking comment was made by none other than the Assistant Dean of Students at Vassar College. Colleges and universities are extremely left wing.

So it is okay for men to have their world and life turned upside down because according to feminist 'logic' (actually it's 'feelings'), men must be punished unfairly so they can learn. Scary stuff!

I know a bit about feminism

LOL, indeed you do.
-------------------

Now, I've been asked to list some laws (out of many) that discriminate against men and favor women. Here is a partial list;

1)The Selective Act, which forces men to register for the draft, or they will be fined and imprisoned.

2)The Violence Against Women Act, which only protects women from domestic violence and leaves men with no where to turn if they are stuck in an abusive relationship.

3)Executive Order 11126, which established a committee and council on the status of women. Please note that no corresponding committee or council on the status of men exists.

4)Executive Order 13506, which established a White House Council on Women and Girls. Please note thatno corresponding White House Council on Men and Boys exists.

5)The Executive branch has a Office on Women's Health, under the US Department of Health and Human Services. Please note that no corresponding Office on Men's Health exists.

6)The various Rape Shield Acts, which only protect the identities of female rape victims.

7)The Various Primary Aggressor Statutes, which force police to always arrest males in domestic disputes, even if they were the victims of domestic violence.

The above language was borrowed from another source but it is succinct and am listing it as is for brevity's sake. Happy to enumerate as needed.

Seems like my 'victory' is complete. No responses to laws that favor women. I've only listed a few above but there are many more. No real responses to the evidence presented that women initiate domestic violence as often as men but report it nine times more because the "take it like a man" philosophy still endures and keeps men quiet. No responses to the obvious bias against men when women have special 'womens' offices and departments but men have none.etc, etc.

So I'll leave this presentation to the objective participants who do not fear 'real equality' as opposed to the loaded bullcrap that is known as feminism.

no,no, no........:). You cannot reverse law and history

So you oppose real equality? Well, that's your right.

I agree with you, as long as you mean morality as in 'right' and 'wrong', and assuming the act occasioning self defence is appropriate to the threat.

Of course, that's the implicit premise.

Is it still moral though to defend oneself with say a gun if another comes at you with say a clenched fist?

There you go again. This is why lawyers charge for so many hours of work. It takes them 10 hours to get to a point that someone with common sense understands right away.

my assumption is that you haven't sat in on any Family Law or DV proceedings.

Does my long ago divorce count? Additionally, I've sat and listened to lots of court cases, particularly ones involving domestic violence committed by men and women.

I assume that because you haven't based any of your arguments on your experiences there and I think I'm on the money in saying that if you had those experiences you would have raised them by now.

Unlike some here, I don't rely on anecdotal evidence. People who do usually have a self-centered prejudiced opinion and don't know how to overview a situation.

ZIMMY:Equal father custody

Automatically and enshrined in legislation or subject to what is in the child's best interests?

It may be legally enshrined but as all men and most women know, that's not how the law is carried out since child custody almost always defaults to the woman, even when she is the 'bad guy'.

Elimination of discrimination against men in education

Where? If women are nowadays over-representing men in Uni in all the professional areas of study, men need to get off their bums and enrol.

Between 1980 and now the educational establishment in the U.S. has done everything from affirmative action to additional special incentives for women. I may start a thread on this if I can tie it to Poland in some manner. You might want to purchase "The War Against Boys" by

Christina Hoff Sommers or "Professing Feminisim" by Daphne Patai. These women explain the feminized educational systems in the U.S. Ms Patai herself use to teach womens studies courses.

Ending debtor imprisonment of fathers/ex-husbands

If fathers/ex-husband's are in contempt of an order obliging them to pay child support or spousal maintenance and if the law permits it, why not?

Because the U.S. outlawed Debtors Prison long ago; interesting that this is the exception.

Parity of sentencing (viz gender) mustn't be applicable to the USA if you're saying this though.

There are too many examples of women being given less jail time than men for the same offenses. Just to give you one example; men who kill their spouses average 17 years in prison; women who kill their mates only average 7 years in prison. (please don't give me any 'female only' defenses which discriminate against men).

if a person is found to have committed DV and convicted of same, why can't that be used in say a Family Law matter,

So you really are unaware that most of such filings by women are false and are used as "divorce incentives" to procure custody and monetary benefits?

Keeping quiet out of embarrasment and keeping quiet out of fear for your life are two completely different scenarios.

Nevertheless, the bottom line is that they are keeping quiet. I see that you are still influenced by all the feminist rhetoric these past several decades.

And willing rather to die by being killed with a pan than to admit being beaten by wife on a regular basis is still another scenario.

Feminists fail to grasp that concept.

Women smell their seduction victim instantly.

Sometimes they use their sense of sight especially when they see a fat wallet.

Fox News is owned by a member of the Bush family, I forget his name.

That's because there is no name! You might be thinking of Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal who owns 7 percent of Fox News. Of course, many other investors are Jewish (7%) and the governance board includes people who are of Hispanic, Vietnamese (surprise?), and even of Dutch ancestry. Of course Rupert Murdoch has the controlling voting interest.

didn't Fox already called Bush winner before all Floridian votes were counted in 2000?

Yes, they called the election correctly. Here is what you probably don't know.
* Bush won the original count in Florida.
* Bush won subsequent three recounts.
* Bush won the absentee ballots recounts.
* Bush won the watchdog media's recounts conducted one year after the election.
* Bush even won the special "New York Times" recount; the one where it threw out the
military ballots (80% for Bush).

Even with the above info, lefties will still go along with their 'feelings' instead of the facts.

What Al Gore wanted to do was recount those areas which were heavily Democratic while not counting Republican districts. To liberals, that is called 'fairness'.

History / Poles back to the Elbe (Łaba)? [28]

YouknowwhatImean... :)

I'll let you off the hook on this one but I will say that I was sorely tempted to really hold your comment against you (and I could do it well).

In the August 30, 2010 New Yorker Magazine I was reading an article titled, "On the Prison Highway". It's about someone who was recently visiting Stalins' gulags. One portion of the piece reads as follows:

"After Russia re-took Poland, many Poles once again wound up in the gulag. Some who had lived through the Nazi ocupation said that Hitler was nothing compared with this, and they now wished they had fought on Hitler's side."

I suspect that you find the above a most interesting comment. Many released prisoner would not go back to the Soviet Union and some even committed suicide.

More from the article: "Gulag prisoners who knew the novel "Uncle Tom's Cabin" regretted
that fate had put them in this time and place, and not in slavery in the American South a hundred years before. As Negro slaves, they reasoned, at least they would have lived someplace warm, and would have been whipped and branded but not worked to death outright."

Our Tea Party friends know how to dish out some violence and damaging of properties as well.

I've been to four tea party events and therefore I know better than you. I go as an observer and those gatherings are home-spun, vocal yet peaceful and only those who get their news from the vast liberal outlets don't seem to know this. These are good people.

f I assume right that those pro-lifers are part of the same target audience as the Tea Parties, they even kill ppl.

Tea party activists can be either pro life or not. They are concerned with the growth of government, higher taxes and individual rights. As to threats, you are probably unfamiliar with the ones that Republican candidates received, right? Here is just one example; blogs.kansascity.com/crime_scene/2010/03/house-republican-says-he-was-threatened-too.html

As an objective observer I can tell you that the vituperative language of the left is more shrill than any of the right. In addition, the rioting that is often ignored by the general media is also a product of the left. Deal with it.

Quick edit; you note; "don't forget that the Democrats are only recently in power."
Not true; the Democrats took over Congress during the 2006 elections. They've been in power for four years now. Odd, how that coincided with the beginning of economic troubles.

The same thing happened in 1994 only in reverse when Republicans took control of Congress. As we know that's when the economy grew. Lots of people don't understand that Congress, particularly the House of Representatives is responsible for spending as well as programs. It isn't just a president dictating policy.

One more quick point; accusing Fox News of being a Republican outlet is laughable when comparing it to NBC; MSNBC, CBS and ABC which can more easily be accused of being Democratic Party fronts. There are more liberal news outlets than conservative ones so accusations against Fox News fall flat just based on sheer numbers.

Fox News always posits an opposing viewpoint. On staff are liberals who daily contribute and that is more than can be said about MSNBC for instance. On occasion, two liberals can be seen arguing against one conservative on Fox. That's more fair coverage than the other news outlets give.

Fox news is liaised to the Republican party. And the Republican party is known for it's dirty way of dealing with things when not in power.

You seem confused and you ignored the issue. The point I made is this; the general news outlets ignored a story (one of many) that shows liberals, leftists, rioting and damaging property and scuffling with the police.

If this happened at a tea party rally then it would be front page news with every major outlet. The fact that this story was briefly noted is a credit to Fox News. So the real question is this;

why does the general news media censor negative activity by the left?

I don't know about European 'nuts', whether left wing or right wing but here in the U.S. the left wing crazies outdo anyone else for nuttiness. Some have been busted for impersonating tea party protesters; others shout down conservative speakers on campuses and some even threaten establishments

sodahead.com/living/psssst---did-you-hear---violent-left-wing-nuts-riot-burn-down-a-coffee-house/blog-333821
......all in the name of 'fairness' of course.

Only Fox News carried this riot which of course makes that news network "hateful". The other news outlets (typically) ignored it because it did not fit the liberal news template. However, if a tea party activist sneezes, those same outlets will blame that person for spreading diseases.

With few exceptions, the left has hijacked the general news media in the U.S. One can only imagine the front page stories if tea party people behaved in the same manner as those demonstrated in the link above.

I'm not sure where morality comes into the act of self defence.

Really? You are "not sure" that protecting oneself is moral? Well, with liberals everything is indeed relative.

The above pseudo rationalizations are a good example of what's wrong with lawyers. They don't use common sense, just gibberish and argumentation for its own sake.

I can't help but feel that if you took the time to actually sit in on legal proceedings you would broaden your understanding

You assume I've never sat at legal proceedings? My experience with attorneys is vast and that is why I don't respect them (exceptions duly noted).

You seem to infer that the legal system fails men because it is feminised, biased and so.

I've already given you the VAWA example which discriminates against men. Here are some other areas of law and culture which need to be equalized.

Equal father custody
Elimination of alimony
Elimination of discrimination against men in education
Ending debtor imprisonment of fathers/ex-husbands
Imprisonment of women who make false accusations
Equal sentencing for both men and women for the same crimes
Reforming domestic abuse laws to prevent their use as a tool in civil cases
Parity in health funding for men and women
Revocation of affirmative action for women
Removal of women's divorce incentives
Repeal of IMBRA
Repeal of rape shield laws

There's lots more .........

Procreation is a primal drive. You don't have to think about it.

Many men would prefer the sexual drive women had when, in primitive times, women went into heat (estrus). Women evolved from this dubious condition and now can (usually) control their sexual urges.

psychologytoday.com/blog/the-human-beast/200907/ladies-in-heat

From the link: "This is something of a revelation given that the received wisdom of sex researchers was that women had lost estrus entirely, or had "concealed" it so as to permit continuous sexual receptivity. Being sexually receptive all of the time kept men in the dark as to when ovulation was actually taking place. This meant that if a man was to impregnate a woman, his chances were improved by staying around rather than just showing up during the few days of the month when a woman is most likely to conceive."

Can 'we' imagine what the world would be like if women (still) had estrus? ....boggles the mind.
