UK, Ireland / Why English do not like Polish? [417]

First off there arent that many Brits that live outside the country, certainly not in the numbers that Poles live outside of Poland.

The difference between Poles and brits are that poles comes where the money is while the brits emigrate from their country cuz it sucks.

Secondly: The weather isnt an issue for those of us that live here..we're used to it.

Indeed you got used to it, you've been stuck in this island for over 1000 years.

Now to our national dish, sweety we have many dishes, just because morons think that's all we have, that's not our fault.

Ah yah i forgot your second national dish chicken tikka masala WOHOOOOO!!!

Yeah, all the women are fat and rotten..Not quite true and we both know this.

Yea srry i forgot to mention that 50% of your population are GINGERRRRRS!!!!!

GINGEEER!!!!

Are we arrogant? I'd like to think of us as being more confident than arrogant..The Spanish reckon we're too polite...so it just shows you how perceptions differ.

Confident? Haha i dont think so. NOBODY likes brits!!!!

Why do you talk about yourself and your sisters like that? Fishing for compliments?

Why do you have to start to be personal? Ain't personal attacks illegal on this forum?

News / Poland's budget problems = Polish funerals [27]

Poland's budget problems are becoming so serious that even the dead are going to have to pay their share, as the government considers spending cuts that include taking an axe to generous funeral allowances.

"The allowance will be set closer to EU norms," Ludwik Kotecki, the deputy finance minister, told reporters, adding: "Currently it is too high, which has meant that funeral costs [in Poland] are some of the highest in the world."

The current state handout is 6,487 zlotys (€1,621, £1,344, $2,100) and the government wants to cut it to 3,500 zlotys, which would save about 1bn zlotys a year.

About time they do something about it. I even saw a documentary called Necrobusiness that was about this issue where the undertakers in Lodz makes huge profit by paying ambulance drivers to get the information where the unfortunate relatives live, then they go there with contracts to get the relatives to sign over the burial funds to the undertakers.

You can find the Documentary on youtube

Part 1

Part 2

If you wanna see the other parts, just search for "_£ódzki nekrobiznes. Wątki nieujawnione. Dokument BBC zabroniony w Polsce02" and it will come in a sec.

No...there is a list...

That book were made 1851, 69 years before the battle in Poland...

But i guess your school had to save and had to teach you from 150 years old books instead of buying books up to date ;)

Real Estate / TRESPASSING ON MY LAND IN POLAND....what can i do legally...? [119]

I like Sheila's acid and dramatic style of writing.

Yes indeed it's easy to write such nonsense, when you got no clue what you're writing about. That's how most of the authors does nowadays.

Maybe she will be the next J.K.Rowling???

Life / WOULD YOU MOVE BACK TO POLAND IF.... [73]

So would you seriously think about moving back to Poland if you knew you might become a white minority in your current host country?

Gosh what is happening to this world?

Seriously i find this racism everywhere nowadays... Everyone is crying buhuhu look at all those black people, asian people, arabian people bla bla bla cry me a river...

If they were so bad why did you bring them in and gave them the same benefits like you have? Do like they do in Dubai instead of just standing there and point your fingers...

Step 1. Make an Arab "international" area where Rich arabs can come and visit and make different kind of Business.

Step 2. The ones who actually want to live in your country needs to show atleast 100.000 Dollars in his bank account to even be able to apply for an visa.

PROBLEM SOLVED!!!

History / United States of America Vs Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth [74]

there were a LOT of aristocratic titles that were coupled with administrative power.

You didn't need to have a aristocratic title to be a Voivod, starost etc etc...

Well they're recognized among the noble families of Europe though.

Maybe so... But a title dosen't make you more noble. Having got your title from some foreign court is really shamefull...

A true szlachta don't need a title. All he needs is his Latifunda and ukrainian serfs ;)

My father is from the sideline of Rzewuscy

Rzewuski family betrayed their own country, one of them even got hanged for it :)

So when you say sideline do you mean that you're family were adopted by the Rzewuski family or just another branch? since Rzewuski didn't have another branch ;)

my mother is a daughter of a poor profesor and a housewife, both from a long line of dirt jockey peasants, both families are friends and mingle on holidays hows that for rigid structure you ignorant troll?

Some times the szlachta mixed with the poor to make sure not to get retarded children. You don't want to get Incest in your family now do you?

My best friend is a viscount who worked as a bartender for 2 years, his wife is a receptionist in a hotel as common as you can get, rigid my arse.

The title didn't mean **** in Poland. it was actually more of a family shame. Aloot of families in Poland without titles were richer then those with titles.

Ps.
just don't insult me in your reply cuz i feel i will see aloot of f******* in it :)

News / Heavy storm / tornados cause chaos and flooding in Poland [23]

WARSAW, Poland (AP) -- A heavy storm has struck Poland and flooded homes, hospitals and roads and forced the closure of several subway stations in Warsaw.

The heavy rains Friday evening forced emergency officials to evacuate people caught in the floods. Among those evacuated were passengers of a bus that got stuck on a flooded highway in Warsaw.

Poland is still recovering from massive flooding in late spring that killed more than 20 people.

Could anyone here in Pf that lives in Warsaw confirm this and tell us what is going on!?!?!?

History / Poland - Scotland, the untold story... [75]

The brits feared for their lifes!!

On 31 August George returned to London from Hanover. On 4 September the Duke of Newcastle wrote to the Duke of Cumberland, requesting ten battalions of British soldiers:
Though I have constantly seen the reality and danger of this attempt to invade His Majesty's dominions, I did not imagine that, in so short a time, the Pretender's son, with an army of 3,000 men, would have got between the King's troops and England, and be within a few days' march of Edinburgh, where, some think, we shall soon hear that he is; and that he may attempt to call a Parliament there. Others rather suppose that he will proceed with his army through England, where there no regular troops to oppose him, 'till he comes towards London

Seems like this Charles was a little William Wallace of his own ;)

Braveheart for the win!!!!!

History / Poland - Scotland, the untold story... [75]

Nothing new to me ;)

They almost got the french to invade Britain!!!

His father managed to obtain the support of the French government in 1744, and Charles Edward traveled to France with the sole purpose of commanding a French army, which he would lead in an invasion of England. The invasion never materialized, principally due to the fact that the French were afraid of the much stronger British army and, to a lesser extent, because of poor weather that prohibited sailing. Undeterred, Charles Edward was determined to carry on in his quest for reinstatement of the Stuarts regardless.

/wiki/Charles_Edward_Stuart

On 8 February 1744 Charles arrived at Paris and during February and March he was with the French invasion force. Maurice of Saxony had between 12,000 and 15,000 French troops at Dunkirk ready for a landing in Essex

History / United States of America Vs Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth [74]

how government control was the main reason America rebelled

Talking about the civil war? well the poles also rebelled many times.

you make up stuff based on your own ideology and your own leanings and call it "the truth"

Ok i take it back about the "truth" thingy... But i still think America is about to collapse of various reasons that i see were very similar reasons to Plc's collapse.

you throw out those crazy statements such as our taxes are too low

So who does the taxes benefit if not the rich?

@Jurgis
Welcome to the forum my Lithuanian brother :)

The szlachta in Commonwealth were divided and weren't patriots anymore. Everybody was on their own. Creating their own confederations and always asking help from Russia, Prussia, Austria, Sweden and so on.

Some did... Some did not.

In my opinion most of americans (oligarchy or not) are patriots of their country.

Not really... Ever seen Bill gates fighting in a war?

And also I think if the commonwealth was degarding economically, loosing it's teritories and becoming less powerful BUT szlachta would have been patriots it wouldn't have been divided (or at least divided later)

Well they just had different point of view. Some of them wanted to keep the Golden freedom and some wanted to reform.

One of the founders of the Targowica Confederation, Stanisław Szczęsny Potocki:
"Each true Pole, not blinded by the Prussian and royalist cabal, is convinced, that our Fatherland can only be saved by Russia, otherwise our nation will be enslaved".

After Stanisław Poniatowski's abdication and the destruction of the Commonwealth, he said:
"About past Poland and Poles [I don't want to talk anymore]. Gone is this country, and this name, as many others have perished in the world's history. I am now a Russian forever."

The American taxes are embarrassing low LOL. I thought for a while you were talking about your IQ? Your Mockba influenced knowledge of economics and history hardly makes any sense. Keep spewing your hate into your wishes of America's demise if it makes you feel better.

Ow srry Mr American, seems like you can't handle the truth...

Instead of insulting my IQ maybe you can discuss with me like a normal person.

History / United States of America Vs Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth [74]

This is to me very fascinating, how much alike Usa and Plc are. And this will also be the reason why Usa will collapse just like Plc did.

If we look from a historical point of view, both nations were big and prosperous. After several decades of power and greatness, the Plc entered a period of protracted political, military and economic decline. Its growing weakness led to its partitioning among its more powerful neighbors, Austria, Prussia and Russia, during the late 18th century. This is what is happening to Usa at the moment. I don't think usa will get partitioned but it will collapse politically, militarily and economically.

So why would Usa collapse on the same grounds as the Plc?

If you look at the Plc economy at that time, so somewhere between the 16th and 17th centuries, the Commonwealth's trade balance shifted from positive to negative. Same thing is happening to Usa. The Exports are $1.057 trillion while the imports are $1.558 trillion, that's a 500 billion Gap.

What about the people then?

Well in Plc only the szlachta around 15% of the population had political rights and lets say about 5% of them held 70% of the money. You can see the same thing in the Usa. Plc had serfs, indirectly Usa also got serfs. If you think working for 4$/h is fair then be my guest...

The American taxes are embarisingly low and only benefits the oligarchy in Usa. Plc had the same problem and made tax reforms to late.

Plc never had peace for more then 5 years they say I can't see a big difference in the american war politics...

So maybe Usa got something to learn here?
