Britain is so MC and seeing coloured people walking around has become part of the set-up/the national fabric. Poland is very homogeneous and the common sentiment is that it wants to stay that way. However, I agree that some Poles could be a little more open when they travel but we deal with people as we meet them. Just beware of false ambassadors ;)

Well, it shows relative technological development. MLS, I think, was first introduced in 2006. Heathrow airport used that tech because, as we know, it gets foggy there quite often. Not having ILS, Delph? Are you sure? What of Azimuth, Delph?

Trust me, that would have been the first thing that Putin did to show that all reasonable steps had been taken. I couldn't understand the Russian exchange when Tusk was there but snippets I got. Nobody has been fired on the Russian side and, trust me, the penalty would have been severe for any breach of protocol of this magnitude. I imagine Russian ground control did their job admirably but......no documented evidence.

What other details don't you know? Are those other details relevant to it being pilot error or not? Are those as of yet unknown details evidence? ;) ;) You want that evidence to corroborate your hypothesis?

I was saying that he could have tried to navigate them in as best possible. There is no evidence that they did. Yes, he gave the order to divert but there needed to be some follow through.

No, it's just the image you conjur up of a plane on autopilot at a time when it needed a pilot, given that he was looking frantically for the runway. Tell me, where was the guidance from ground control?

It's the principle of lying that I take issue with. It was to be too sensitive to publish apparently. I see nothing of that nature in print which makes me feel that they edited a lot.

I didn't say it was important at all in the sense of what word it was. What else in my analysis doesn't add up? I even put forward a technological justification above for the official line.

I have never advanced a highly plausible conspiracy theory as I believe in the official line. However, some things just don't add up but you choose to ignore them.

I think a big problem here was landing technology. An ILS was in operation but, to my knowledge, Russia doesn't have MLS's. A Microwave Landing System ensures a higher degree of certainty through having a greater signal range than an ILS. It allows the pilot to know more quickly the azimuth and elevation data needed.

Smolensk appears to be a makeshift, scabby airport. Protasiuk was really up against it.

Surely the pilot would have mentioned sth or even given a hint as to how he deliberately ignored protocol and warnings. Not flying the plane? I'd understand a quick emergency session but why didn't he pull up and cut his losses? No pilot could seriously think that they could negotiate a whole set of trees. Just incidentally, what were those shooters doing on the ground?

I've said it all before, plk123. The questions of doubt. How can you be so clear-cut about it when they have changed their story many times? Even the experts say the data is, as of yet, inconclusive.

I believe in the official version as no conspiracy theory is cogent enough. Nonetheless, I want to explore all the angles.

I merely examine the evidence which leads me to conclusions. Unlike fans of official versions, I don't like being spoonfed the answer. I am just questioning the evidence. I can't remember the news station but he was dissatisfied with not getting the transcripts by the 22/04 promised time.

Well, where there is a will, there is a way and I can't believed they lacked the will.

Time will tell if it was pure negligence or if a novus actus interveniens was involved. It does seem like he was the proximate cause but I'd like to see a debate with aviation experts coming together to find anomalies or consistencies.

Another area that I feel has only been partially covered was the use of mobile phones. There was a debate on this between Popular Mechanics and Loose Change in relation to 9/11. Convex, to what extent can overuse of such cellphones impact on the electronic equipment in use?

There are idiots who try and say it was an assassination attempt. How could they have known where the plane was going to crash? Also, that anyone would survive the impact? It is those conspiracy theorists that get my goat.

Did they or did they not have time for evasive maneuvers? I can tell you that Protasiuk's family were utterly devasted. He left children behind.
