History / Poles and Russians -- love-hate relationship? [209]

Well, we have the SAS to do it ;) It is Scottish, see David Stirling (creator).

We will teach the Russians democracy in exchange for more Smirnoff Ice :) :)

On England? That's ok then :) They have spy issues with Russia so let them deal with it. I'd deny Blair and Brown access to Scotland, they are not Scots IMHO.

Retaliation on Scotland? It's part of GB. They haven't seen retaliation yet for flying over our airspace without permission. It's always the same with Russia on an intergovernmental level. As for Russian people, there are many in the SW of Scotland and most Scots really like them.

Life / Why many funny stories about Polish People in Europe? [38]

... there are many like this. I couldn't stop laughing as my wife's gran is just like that. Sorry, it's in Polish but this is a Polish forum.

... this is brilliant!

... these old hags love to jibber and let it all out.

Life / Small change in shops in Poland!? [95]

Evidently, for some it is. For me it's generally not but I have seen more change problems for others in almost 6 years here than 24 back in Scotland.

Frd, take the blindfold off, my friend ;) Believe your eyes :)

Small change is a problem in many shops, fact! You are just used to it so don't see it like a foreigner frd, that's all.

News / Who are you voting for in the 2010 Poland's presidential elections and why? [82]

Nobody gives a toss anyway. Whatever loser comes into power comes into power. Oh, I'm not speaking when I'm typing, Jola, so you can come down from the ceiling and behave yourself. I'm being quite silent!

Oh, I don't get to vote as I've only got a Polish wife and over 5 years in Poland. Election silence, LOL

Plus, they will rarely say 'oh, just take it'. There's seldom a problem elsewhere. When I was in Durres, Albania, the guy just gave me the beer for free as I had next to no change and huge notes. Many Poles are overly precise and don't let things go. Thankfully, your faith can be restored by some people. They are fine out front as they know I am regular and will pay the difference the next time when I have change.

UK, Ireland / Brit Polonia fighting anti-Polish stereotypes [46]

Being anti most things per se is wrong.

I just meant that we should take a rational approach and not jump on the label bandwagon too quickly. Too many people are prejudiced and have inbuilt bias, wouldn't you say? If we truly understand sth (or believe we do), then we can take a stance. Many don't, however. Then Bob Dylan got it spot on, "don't criticize what you can't understand" (The Times they are a Changin).

... we don't want to get to this position. This is a more light-hearted and comical approach to what I'm trying to say, please watch and laugh.

the film version. Good old Groucho Marx. RIP Marx Brothers, you were legends! America has a great tradition of comedy :)
