USA, Canada / Who is better informed, the expat or the Polonia crowd? [144]

of course somebody living in the country would KNOW more about Poland.
But, they'd also be more surprised at things they see and hear, while somebody born and raised in Poland, even though not living there, innately understands.

Inherent characteristics, like, I don't know, Polish skepticism, certain reserve with strangers, damn, even the certainty that an apocalypse is coming.. I attribute those to my Polishness.

So, you guys living in Poland might know more about her, but that does not mean that you understand her better.

News / Czech drug legalisation threatens Poland [111]

Polish drug experts on TV regularly emphasise that there is no such things as soft, harmless or recreational drugs.

Do these experts include alcohol as one of those drugs?

Life / Let`s compare prices of services and products in Poland [359]

I'm assuming that the obvious has been stated already, that the average salary in UK is twice of that in Poland, so if the item is priced the same in both countries, Poles are effectively paying twice as much for it.

I stay away from all things corn.

That must be very hard to do. Corn syrup and corn starch is in everything!

Off-Topic / I am a Pariah: My Horror Story [44]

Well you definitely haven't run into any southern baptists then haha jk.

I think the problem might be that you tend to generalize. Even southern baptists are not all the same. Take time to meet people and judge them individually.

Maybe it's not the fact that you are Polish, or blond, that rubs people around you the wrong way.
For example, not ALL hip-hop is crap, I have enough Indian friends to develop an affinity for Indian food, I love to dance at Latin clubs, and definitely have been known to have some great times with bohemians and hipsters.

Finding open-minded, tolerant, unbiased people would do you much good. Maybe you should try talking to some of those "bohemians and hipsters" and shed some of your predjudices.

Off-Topic / I am a Pariah: My Horror Story [44]

I never run into any biggotry due to the fact that I'm Polish. Maybe some envy... definitely awe ;)
Same thing here: name, accent, no escaping my Polishness.
Be proud!
Earned me a nickname of Polish Princess.

Law / how does the legal system work in poland? [25]

I was pulled over and quickly blocked by 3 interceptors because some "good citizen" reported suspicious activity when I was returning lost cell phone for which the owner handed me $20 on a parking lot.

what? Some stranger, on the parking lot, hands you a cell phone and $20 and asks you to return it?
Anyone else believed it?

Wait, and you were tailgating a cop? LOL Everyone's just out to get you!

In US it is called 'dropping a dime'.
Crime Stoppers is an organization that promotes the community involvement in reporting crimes.
It is invaluable in helping police solve crimes.
