News / WHY DOES POLAND BUY GAS FROM RUSSIA? [105]

Debt settlement needs to be examined here too. Who does this moron, £ukashenko, think he is? Oh, we have a dubious and contentious debt with Russia so we will cut off the whole supply to Europe. That's contrived logic! When the tables are turned, these sharks will be on the back foot.

History / Israeli wants to wipe Poland off the map! [198]

I don't doubt that. M-G. Nevertheless, you can wipe out the credibility of any witness in that case. How about corroboration to make sure that his story checks out? Israel conducting its own investigation and making it out to be the official one is wrong too.

Proximity is the key but Poland is close enough to Scotland and Norway to make transit a viable option. Russia cannot keep playing games and flexing its muscles here. Everyone knows that the customer is right in business.

It was just how fervent she was in her denials. She vehemently opposed anything the man said and he was there. BBC really has some oddballs in their ranks!

Norway and Scotland could, Delph. I worked in the industry for a bit and am aware of capabilities. As you know, some big-hitters work in Altens and Dyce.

Plk123 is right here, Tusk is a soft touch. Yes Mr Putin, OK Mr Putin, clean your shoes, Mr Putin? :)

However, Russia had better understand the principles of independence and alternative sources.

I don't think it is a serious ultimatum as the new-found partnership needs to be seen to be working. Poland will just look for a new partner.

Check out voting in Israel and the Knesset. Check also the prominence of some Palestinian Arab writers.

They were part of the framework before Hamas got in, Joe.

I'm not saying the position is balanced but they are not completely devoid of rights or input.

News / Russia, Poland ready agreement on visa-free travel [71]

That's because many who voted were Russians themselves and not Ossetians. They voted for autonomy, Delph, not annexation. They were glad for Russian protection against Georgia.

Yes but it's what they want, Delph. You are from the same city and country as I so you should know that many Scots are doubtful about separating from England when using their heads. However, a growing number are using their hearts, maybe also gaining comfort from the good performance of Salmond's SNP. Let them decide!

Language / Can you recognise the nationality of foreign Polish speakers by their accent? [43]

It all comes down to the knowledge of the judge. Some people are so thick that they can't even tell their own accent ;) ;) I remember some Scottish guys thought I was Danish or Norwegian. OK, I don't have the most Scottish accent in the world and am certainly atypical of a NE accent. However, they clearly haven't heard any Danes or Norwegians speak.

Polish people tend not to be too cluey about accents generally.

History / Poland in the eyes of London - before WWII. [60]

Ah, nott, but without all that inbetween talking, many people would be out of a job. War brings plentiful jobs and people out of hibernation. Suddenly, everyone becomes a frickin war correspondent, political activist or political scientist overnight.

Part of it was Goering's strategy of 'bunching'. He adopted the safety in numbers logic but that was largely nullified by swooping dives by RAF pilots who knew the lay of the land better.

Well, that too, Babinich ;) ;) He just didn't know when to throw in the towel.

Love / Why are Polish women so sexy ? [390]

Don't bring the jeans into it ;) ;)

It may be that Cracovians or Varsovians are nicer because I don't see many beautiful women here in Gliwice. A few for sure.

UK, Ireland / British Equivalents to Matura Results [30]

Tests of verbal competence have sprung up quite a lot. It's all part of the learning curve and I've nothing against it.

The Matura is said to be tough but benchmarks are always needed as a yardstick.

I mean what points will they bring to the debating table? Concrete proposals for Poland without mentioning WWII.

UK, Ireland / British Equivalents to Matura Results [30]

Oh, skibum is right. A-levels is correct :)

6 is A+. Everything else is in accordance with what you said. The scale is A-E.

UK, Ireland / British Equivalents to Matura Results [30]

Yeah, the stary Matury was a bit harder and A-Grades are seen as fractionally harder then Revised Higher Grades.

That's the closest equivalent you'll get, moim zdaniem.
