Life / Talking over people in conversations; is it a Polish trait? [41]

British politicians do it too but there is a political show here where 5 politicians sit around a table and discuss different issues. I kid you not, 5 of them talking at the same time. It's a bloody joke! It's not Teraz My, I can't remember the name of it. Nobody gives a toss what those selfish idiots want to say anyway, only their mothers maybe ;)

That defensive account aside, I have to agree with rich. They have their piece and they must let it out. I've often felt that way here so I just stay silent. Why talk to people who have no interest in talking back?

UK, Ireland / What do you hate about England and English people? [142]

Some of their soldier documentaries on different online stations. They have no idea of the phony geopolitics and business that underpin decisions to go to war and yet they think they are heroes. They can bask in their glory all they wish but they are helping evil men obtain evil objectives. This I cannot condone!

Life / Talking over people in conversations; is it a Polish trait? [41]

It's not solely Polish, no, but it is quite prevalent here. I've seen it countless numbers of times. You can see now why I call a lot of them 'gibberers' :) There are so many people that are not that interested in what you have to say. I had one student do it to me and she knew it. So, when she asked for a correction, I just blanked her as if I hadn't heard her. I wouldn't do that 99% of the time but it was just rude on her part and it infuriated me.

It's worse amongst older people. I remember once one harping on about her back and the other was talking about her daughter's achievements, both looking at each other but neither listening. It was comical.

Food / What's your favorite Polish beer? [870]

It's pretty good :) :) Many so-called lesser beers in Poland are better than the big guns like Tyskie and Lech.

Love / Are there Polish women who date black guys? [281]

Wash that stuff he has on his body off and you have a very white man. He even looks like a white man through all that gunk he has put on himself.

Love / Are there Polish women who date black guys? [281]

Good question, MC. There are many puritan types that will reject anything foreign but blacks are not seen in a good light by many. This is largely in conservative parts, though.

Pgtx is right. Many Poles are not in GB for life and are not looking for marriage, more for money. Polish girls who date black men are frowned upon here in conservative Gliwice. I've seen it with my own eyes.

Food / chef student would like to know about polish food [14]

Well, this thread has potential to wheel out a few recipes related to known chefs. Here's an English one,
youtube.com/watch?v=hleJ8Wx62Uc
He died last Sep so RIP, Keith Floyd. Always one for his wine. In every programme, regardless of the dish he was making :) :)

Please feel free to show some of Pascal or that middle-aged Polish chef whose name eludes me now. Poland has some really good chefs so let's see them.

Perła and £omźa are great but Goolman Premium is a class act for me. The way a beer/lager should be. You can buy it in Żabka.

Love / Why are Polish women so sexy ? [390]

I've seen some that look like a female Worzel Gummidge here. They have the noses for it :)

Love / Why are Polish women so sexy ? [390]

That sounds about right for some women I have seen here. My wife and I were commenting on that today, that Poles generally are getting fatter with all this garbage they are eating. The attitudes of quite a few are FAR from sexy.

Life / Does anybody care about the elections in Poland? [26]

No, it's all about slogans. Polish political discussions are a grim affair. BK will need to increase his internet propaganda barrage as he is going downhill fast.

Take sth that could be interesting and dull it down, then you have Polish politics.

Southern, why do you generalise so much? You need to come to Gliwice. You will see many plain-looking women that really won't move you at all.

News / 10,000 ISRAELIS READY TO CLAIM FOR POLISH CITIZENSHIP AND POLISH LAND! [628]

How about those 10,000 Israelis? We all know that they forcibly take the land papers from Palestinians. They demolish their houses and make improvements befitting of Jews (they think). I'd love to see how PO would react. I think Tusk would be pleading with Netanyahu to stop.

News / Decoded talks inside Poland's president's plane are released in Internet [337]

I could ;) ;) ;)

Just kidding! There was a link here about German aviation experts lending their expert opinions to the investigative efforts. Also, read Time magazine which ran an article on the holes in the Russian line. It focussed primarily on inaccurate altitude readings and the lack of guidance, a crucial point given the lack of an ILS. I also put some info up somewhere back about MLS and how technology has improved for fog landings. Russia was just behind the times but their personnel could have acted more effectively.

History / Should HMG compensate Poland and/or Polish veterans? [90]

Hmm...I find it odd that Sokrates was suspended as it couldn't have been for his comments here.

Anyway Sok, what you said made sense to me. Putin is a crafty little bugger and I was not making character references before. I'm in the Kasparov camp.

Britain seemed to know, more or less, when the first strikes were going to happen and there was information sharing. You said so yourself. Yes, the mobilisation process takes some time but much comes through anticipation and preparedness. Many historians would agree with me that those initial raids were reasonably foreseeable.

Force France to act? You've got to be joking! They were the most insipid bunch of cowards out there. Britain benefited from an effective and informed Foreign Secretary and raised our level of preparedness.

He sometimes is decent and that's why many are entering into dialogues with him. Tusk very much included.

You do it by keeping them in regular training and focussed for the task ahead.

So Poland made a mistake by not mobilising? You listened to 'allies'?

History / Should HMG compensate Poland and/or Polish veterans? [90]

Hey, we lost a strong trading partner in Germany. Trade in the early to mid 1930s was very strong.

That's what contingency plans are for, Sok! Standby, readiness and all that.
