Love / How could I change her opinion about me? [60]

how many of these creatures can act the same way.

Does the same thing happen for you only with Polish girls?

Maybe you seem to be too interested, so the whole situation feels exaggerated. A big common mistake. There must be a balance.

Even when I called her he just said me: Pierdol się! (F*ck off!).

There is nothing more you can do.

If someone really says she doesn't want any contact with you, it must be accepted. Or else it's a pathological behavior.

Language / Learning Polish, good for beginners? [29]

I do not understand where from comes this resistance to Polish teachers.

Taking some lessons is a good idea. I recommend that. A few lessons to get started on pronunciation and basic grammatical structures.

But many people would be surprised if they know how much you can learn on your own. If you have basic knowledge about the language and its structures.

Language / Learning Polish, good for beginners? [29]

If Polish is for you the first foreign language and your naitve language is not an infected language (has no endings and caces)
your chances to learn Polish succesfully are close to 0.

Not true. If you have good basic knowledge of general linguistics and get a good course book you can be fine.

But you need some Poles to practice conversation skills with.

Language / Learning Polish, good for beginners? [29]

I recommend

Polish in 4 weeks Level 1 (Kowalska) and 301 Polish Verbs (with conjugation tables).

There are so many other books that have really bad structure. And they will just confuse you.

Language / Learning Polish, good for beginners? [29]

Polish is very difficult in the beginning. You must learn completely new linguistic structures. When you know them it's much easier to learn the rest.

Life / Do expats living in Poland speak Polish? [233]

I don't know what all this has to do with the topic of this thread.

But if you move to a country you should learn the language, at least so you can have basic conversations.

That is how you thank me for helping you? I'm shocked!!! Your parents didn't tell you how to behave at all?

Why do you think almost no other people answer your questions here? Think about that.

so would you understand me if i said
' jak czy pan pytać'

No. As I said, Polish never has questions with the structure "How Do you...?" translated as "jak czy pan".

"How do you...?" in the form you are asking about are always impersonal in Polish. It means you never use Pan, Pani, Ty. You only use them if you ask a specific person what he is doing. Now you are asking in general how people are doing/saying/asking something. It's 2 completely different things.

We already told you how to say the sentences we asked us about. Forget about "Jak czy Pan".
You make things more difficult than they are.

Summary

Jak powiedzieć X?

Jak to się mowi?

Jak jest po polsku X?

Jak zapytać o X?

History / Why did Hitler kill so many Jews in Poland? [261]

There were so many Jews killed here in Poland because there were so many Jews here.

Yes. And the location of Poland was strategically important for Germany. Between Soviet and Germany.

the czy pan is the ' do you' question

Yes. Sometimes you can use that.

For example:
Czy Pan lubi piwo? (Do you like beer?) Formal expression.

czy pan jak pytasz.

No. This construction is not used in Polish. In English it would be like: "Do you how ask". It doesn't make any sense at all.

In this case you use a so called impersonal expression. For example: "Jak zapytać (o)..." = How do you ask (about)...".

Language / is it stll jeden [33]

There are different structure of questions in PL and ENG.

In ENG you very often use Do+verb in all kind of questions. E.g. Do you like coffe? It has nothing to do with doing/making something.

In PL you almost always omit this. You (almost) only use robić when it's about making/creating something.

So it's a very big difference between the English use of Do and the Polish use of (z)robić.

i would have written ' jak robi pytasz' what am i not getting.

To make it even more clear. You can never write robi in this kind of construction.

frd is correct

how do you say : "jak powiedzieć"
how do you ask : "jak spytać"

Or you can also say:

Jak to się mowi? (how do you say it?)

Jak jest po polsku "the word/sentence in English"? (How is in Polish "XXXXX"?)

Love / What are the most popular ethnicities for Polish women [90]

I would estimate more than 95%, at least.

I would also say that > 95% of Polish women are married to Polish men.

But we should notice that there are almost only Polish men in Poland.

Language / is it stll jeden [33]

chciąłąbym lubię jedno.

Literary it means "I would like I like one". No one would understand.

In Polish you usually use the noun also in these constructions. Not only "one".

Poproszę jedną kawę. (fem)
Poproszę jedno piwo. (neutr)
Poproszę jeden tort. (masc)

It's normal accusative case, and jeden/jedno/jedna is declined as an adjective.

Love / How to turn a No into a Yes (she invited me to Poland to meet her) [30]

The only thing you can do is to be passive and let her make the next move.

It takes 2 to tango you know. And you have showed much more interest in a relationship than she has. It must be a balance, or else you don't have a chance.

Language / Czego, Czemu, Co, Kto, Jak, Dlaczego? [64]

You can say that. There are many non-living nouns ending in -a. So there are many exceptions. For example, non-living things you can eat often end in -a.

Language / Czego, Czemu, Co, Kto, Jak, Dlaczego? [64]

Szukam gościU (or: gościA), pana Kowalskiego.

gościa

I assume then it's the same as 'a' for other masculine non-living vs. 'u' for living nouns, yes?'-:)

It's the opposite I'd say. Most living masculine nouns (gen. sing.) end in -a. I'd guess it's > 80%. (chłopaka, studenta, psa, kota, gościa etc.)

When it comes to non-living nouns (a much bigger group) it's more difficult. But the majority of words here end in -u.
