Life / People living in Warsaw are rootless peasants! [41]

If posting an answer to this thread, please say whether you live in a big city - as you too might have a rootless peasant "compleks".

I don`t have any complexes though my grandmother was born in a village near Krakow. Why should I? Most Poles have peasant origin and it is normal.

News / Poland Parliament elections in October 2011 [944]

=WielkiPolak]I think we had this debate previously.

95% of topics in the forum have been debated previously. :):):):)

=WielkiPolak]I really hope PO do not win again but I fear they will. People in Poland are too stupid.

No, people who think so are stupid. :):):):):)

=WielkiPolak]They think PO is the modern way to go and PiS is old fashioned and backwards.

Exactly. PiS belongs to 19 century, while PO to 20 century. There isn`t a party yet which belongs to 21 century. :):):):)

=WielkiPolak]'modernisation spiel'

Spiel? Are you fekking German? :):):):)

=WielkiPolak]PiS goes for the patriotic arguments that a lot of people seem not to care too much about,

PiS` patriotism is one giant humbug. They don`t even know the words of the Polish national anthem. :):):):) Wise patriots of Poland realise this and don`t vote PiS.

=WielkiPolak][although I have doubts about the fairness of the last elections. I heard about 1.4 millions votes were void].

My humble advice - don`t be silly. :):):):)
Also, come to Poland, live here for a few years, and then formulate your opinions. I guarantee they will be much wiser than now. :):):):)

Don't they realise that by banning GW/TVN/etc, they'll just get mocked even more in the media?

In 2008, Kaczyński announced a boycott of TVN station. PiS members were prohibited to appear there.
After some time, the ban was lifted when he realised it brought more harm than good.
Complete crazies, behave like they lived in 19 century.

Do other countries also have such political parties who are voted for mostly by simple-minded people?

=hague1cmaeron]Come of it, your less than subtle use of PIS propaganda proves it.

That is the problem with some conservative American Poles who left in 1990s and deem themselves great experts who know much better than Poles residing in Poland what is good for us.

God, protect us from such "patriots."

Voting rights should be lifted for all Poles who stay abroad longer than one year - their perspective is blurred seriously and they lose touch with the Polish reality. Their voting is simply out of place, out of time.

For example:

=Ironside]simple,I believe them less harmful to Poland than PO.

Nope. PiS is much more harmful because they are able to start a civil war in order to get power. Dead bodies and destruction - that is what doesn`t scare PiS.

And it scares all other parties, what makes them normal in result.

I counted on some intelligent debate with you but you failed me. :):):):)

Well, I love only my wife and family. :):):):)

As for Tusk, I think he is an intelligent politician who wants and is able to contain rabid dogs from PiS. That is why he is going to get my vote. And millions of other Poles` too.

opinion polls in Poland are no to be trusted, everybody knows it, they are run by ex-political-police|(commies)types......

Don`t be unwise. Do you know at all that there are at least 5 independent polling agencies in Poland?

Let me repeat the question - when was the last time you visited Poland after leaving it in early 1990s as a child, with parents who won the Green Card in the lottery?

People in Poland do not support PO anymore,

:):):)
How often you do visit Poland? When did you last do it? 10 years ago? :):):)

Screaming about "falsified results" is the kind of thing that bitter, sore losers do.

Exactly. Rabid dogs:

News / Poland Parliament elections in October 2011 [944]

This is the funny thing - PiS suddenly changed their tune in recent months when they realised that even if they win the election, they'll have to rely on the SLD to get a majority in the Sejm - but the SLD have been...hmm..rather cool, shall we say?

These two parties are like fire and water - completely opposite. But to get power, they are able to forget about differences. Hopefully, they won`t win the majority.

Insulting PSL voters recently won't have helped them either - seriously, Mr Kaczynski, get a grip on your party!

:):):):) The thing has been discussed vehemently for a few days......

thenews.pl/1/9/Artykul/54144,Election-2011-%E2%80%93-Opposition-in-peasant-jibe-gaffe
With five weeks to go before Poland's general election, leading opposition party, Law and Justice (PiS) has been accused of insulting part of its electoral base after its chief spin-doctor made some disparaging remarks about "peasants."

Adam Hofman, chief spokesman for the conservative Law and Justice party, made the comments concerning a promotional video of the current junior coalition partner, the Polish Peasant's Party (PSL).

The PSL video shows party members dancing, in what appears to be a bid to attract a more youthful electorate ahead of the 9 October elections.

"With PSL, the situation is that these peasants left their little towns and the countryside, and made it to Warsaw," Law and Justice's Hofman reflected in an interview with television station TVN 24.

"They became savage, and got dumb-founded, then they dance, sing and vote for such laws... as civil partnerships," mused the conservative MP.
"The peasants left the countryside and went bonkers," he concluded.

:):):):):):):):):)

PSL peasants offered Hoffman a sugar beetroot:

d

BTW, calling someone a beetroot in Poland is an abuse.

(it's my feeling that people are destroying PiS intentionally in order to remove Kaczynski after this election)

Reminds me of Nero Befehl - Hitler ordered a self-destruction of Germany when he realised the war was lost.

Language / More than one type of love (linguistically speaking) [11]

.c'mon Pawian, you know what I mean,,help me out here!

I already helped you. :):):)

Are there words for other kinds of love, for example, maternal, fraternal, friendship etc?

Nope. In Polish it is almost always miłość and its nature is defined by proper modifying adjectives:

maternal - miłość macierzyńska

wysokieobcasy.pl/wysokie-obcasy/1,103260,82895.html

fraternal - miłość ojcowska

naobcasach.pl/a.202.Ojcowska_milosc.html

French love - miłość francuska

Delphian - You know, the biggest question in this election is - who will PO form a coalition with? Will it be the SLD, or PSL?
(personally - the SLD would be better - they have no interest in maintaining KRUS, nor do they have any interest in subsidising Solidarność controlled industries)

SLD, as former communists, are abominable to me.

However, I won`t object to PO forming a coalition with them. Anything goes to stop rabied dogs from getting power in Poland.

you are an idiot pawian, you are an unbelievably moronic individual

Thank you. Your name calling only proves that PiS and his supporters must be isolated like rabied dogs which pose danger to people. :):):):)

being in their boots I would not debate with PO, what would be the point, they will lie anyway, and their are trash anyway ....

Very good. )::):): In this way, PiS is going to lose and that will be a great success of Poland.

You seemed like dude with brain, but its only porridge:(

It is not nice to say so about Grubas. I don`t agree with his opinion but I respect his political preferences. At the same time, I don`t respect you because you are so frustrated. :):):):):) I pity you, though. I hope you will find proper balance in life sooner or later.

and I encorage you guys to vote Palikot or KNP too!We need a change in this country!

I am sorry, grubas, I can`t vote Palikot because he is too anticlerical. Apart from dispersing the existing political system, he also wants to abolish the Church. Come on, Catholic religion is a long lasting Polish tradition, generations of Poles depended on it in times of trouble.

Sorry, but Palikot is going to lose. I admit he is a honourable politician, though, because he resigned from his PM office when he left PO.

They dare not debate anybody from PO on neutral ground

Yes, it is really unbelievable. PiS, the major opposition party, refuses to run debates with the ruling party!

Have you ever heard or seen anything like that in your countries?

And by the way how irritating is that professional pieniarsz Hoffman-PIS spokesman?

Yes, this cheeky guy can be described as slick a....e. :):):):

History / Has Poland ever participated in any big wars (except WW2)? [73]

Yes, it is true.
What a pity Polish leaders at the time were so intent on retaliation and so blind! Together with Czechs we could create a strong defence against Germans. The Czech army had great equipment (which was later on successfully exploited by Germans, also during the invasion of Poland) - combined with Polish excellent infantry and cavalry, allied Poles and Czechs would be a hard nut to crack for Hitler.

History / Chance of Lwów once again became coming part of Poland [344]

1. It's not my claim but the claim of Wikipedia.

As a man of historic knowledge and education, you should know how to use Wikipedia wisely, instead of blindly copying and pasting information which is incomplete or simply false in case of Poland.

You wrote

Poland: 3

By those 3 Polish universities you probably meant:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jagiellonian_University
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Akademia_Zamojska
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Collegium_Hosianum

You cleverly omitted the one in Breslau, which was founded in 1700s and is described by your Wiki source as located in Poland. However, you knew that it was founded by Germans so it is unjust to ascribe it to Poles.

However, if you were so clever with Breslau, why didn`t you count universities which were founded and run by Poles for centuries but according to your Wiki link, are located in different countries today, Lithuania and Ukraine?

I mean these:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lw%C3%B3w_University
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilno_University

Don`t you agree it makes 5 and not 3 as you said? I claim you provided false info that is why I called you a liar.

Well, yes, it is still a small number compared with Italy, France, Germany or Spain, but it is not so bad, after all.

=Palivec]2. Academies are no universities. Looks like stupidity rules in this forum.
3. the university of Warsaw was established after the Polish partitions.

OK, I am not going to defend these points. :):):)

OK, if that was your real intention, then forgive me calling your activity here trolling, please. :):):):):)

However, if you want to avoid misunderstandings, next time don`t point out 1938/68 solely, but go back to 1919 too.

History / Has Poland ever participated in any big wars (except WW2)? [73]

=isthatu2]because as a brit' Im held responsible on here for the most bizzare actions of British governments from decades and centuries before my birth

Rightly so. It was Brits who invented concentration camps and massacred local societies in their colonies.
Did Brits have any right to do it?
Nope.

Did Poles have any right to be involved in Cieszyn Silesia matters?
Yes.

So? :):):)

=isthatu2]It just puzzles me that there are two reactions from Poles when it is mentioned;

Don`t be unwise. What two reactions are you talking about? :):):):)

You don`t know what an annoyed Pole`s reaction can be?

It is not a problem for me to discuss Polish hideous actions like 1938 or 1968.

I thought it is just stupid to provide them as examples of major wars and Sokrates agrees with me on that.

Ive never seen the reverse implications yet some primal reaction takes over in Poles to deny everything yet expect others to confess all real or imagined sins..........ah well,..

Again, don`t write silly things. Or, try to work on your memory because it is bad. Have you forgotten reading and participating in threads like this one?:

Don`t be silly. Polish relations with Chechs in 20 century are not a big war as was required by the OP! Compared to other Polish real wars, it was just a local conflict which engaged 5000 men.

What the **** are you trying to troll here?

History / Chance of Lwów once again became coming part of Poland [344]

And? It wasn't my argument that the culture of a nation can be judged by the number of universities. And even without shortlived universities the number in Western countries is way higher than in Poland. In case France only had 15 continuously operating universities, the ratio would still be 5:1.

Why are you lying about Polish historic universities? There were more than three as you claim:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Akademia_Zamojska

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lubra%C5%84ski_Academy

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilno_University

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Politechnika_Lwowska

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lw%C3%B3w_University

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warsaw_University

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Collegium_Hosianum

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Szko%C5%82a_Rycersk

And even without shortlived universities the number in Western countries is way higher than in Poland.

Check the population numbers, moron.
