History / Endecja - State Sponsored Anti Semitism 1935 - 1939. [138]

M-G, your biggest let down is your seemingly complete lack of impartiality. You almost always take the Jewish position, regardless of merit. You need to conduct a meritorious assessment and then reach a position thereof. Fine, take the Jewish side if it's indeed the right one but every time I read sth you write, it's in defence of the Jews. Your commentary is far from balanced.

Life / Who's Leaving Poland? [138]

That's important in getting set up. It's the hardest time. You seem like a forceful guy and I mean that in a good way. You have to be. I've learned that you simply must put yourself in positions in Britain and be ruthless about it.

I know what you mean, you miss that quaint feel of English countryside life. OK, I've never felt the English version but Britain hardly varies that much. In Scotland, there is Deeside that I used to cycle out to a lot. It has cool little shops and great golf options. Pub lunches are immense :) :) I always have one when I'm back. Scampi, cod and other British options :) :) People tend not to look beyond crap like black puddings but pub grub is to die for. British pints are also nice.

You are doing the right thing :)

Life / Who's Leaving Poland? [138]

You just have to go in with the right attitude. Do you have a lot of mates back home? Don't be surprised if they haven't moved forward. Poland is quickly catching up on Britain in many ways. Britain is a country where people are stagnant. They say the same things, they watch the same programmes and it's an utter bore. Sitting in a pub and drinking pints will get boring!

At least here in Poland you can be discreet and slip under the radar. Winter sport options are better here. However, you have to roll the dice and see.

Probably a good decision, WB. You reach saturation point inevitably.

News / POLAND LEAVING WHAT COUNTRY FOR A BETTER LIFE?? [73]

Here, yes :) It's good that they check but sometimes I have to point it out to them. If I can change the topic a bit, I'm surprised with the way Mars has gone. They are tiny and overpriced. In Scotland, I remember a big, chunky bar that would really keep you going for a good price.

Think Scottish, think sense! Maybe that's why I'm richer than many here :)

News / POLAND LEAVING WHAT COUNTRY FOR A BETTER LIFE?? [73]

Not out of date, no. Approaching its best before date. I mean yoghurts and all kinds of other things. I eat them on the same day as I buy them. OK, I don't earn over 6,000PLN like I used to but over 4k is fine :)

It isn't a struggle if you lead a modest life style, that's true. I try to do this. I almost never buy new clothes, preferring to go to Lumpeks :) I got 3 pairs of fine trousers for under 30PLN (together). They are like new :) Also, I buy food which is nearing its sell-by date and it's half price. It can be cheap if you look in the right places :)

WB has a point here. It's really not that easy to step into positions as even Poles struggle. It sometimes takes picking up scraps, even as a teacher. Things can change at the drop of a hat so you have to be quite selfish here.

Travel / Poland-My 9-day experience [239]

Well, there is the other side where some truths are incorporated which don't sit well with some. There should always be a balanced perspective.

Love / Are Polish Women cold and aloof? [249]

I'm sure I'll receive a barrage of abuse but it has been my experience. I get the impression that many Slavic women are this way. There are many exceptions, yes, but being rugged, aloof and hard-nosed doesn't require a lot of work for many here.

You should watch The Cleaner, it's a cool serial. They are cold and aloof til they want sth.

I'm glad that some here value Poland's image abroad. I've been helped by some really helpful folk in different offices and I think it was because I was foreign. Otherwise, I've had to roast a lot of boors here. Downright rude!! Still, it's those positive experiences that stick in my mind as it's the exception to the rule. God Bless them for trying against the grain of their culture :) :) :)

Oh, for sure. They drop you like hot cakes when it suits them. Some of the nastiest and most aloof morons around sometimes. Only really chatty when they have a drink in them.

Love / How easy is it to pick up a girl from a club/bar in Warsaw ? [65]

They will shun you most of the time. They are so far up their own butts, esp in Warsaw. Expect a night of chasing with no end result a lot of the time. That's just my guess as I never do and have never done that kind of chasing in my life.

Work / Moving for TEFL job to Poland, what can I expect? [12]

They hire people called mohair berety to inspect foreigners and actually allow castration in the event that anyone steps out of line. They are quite strict there. They are the Polish mujihadeen.

Silesian food is too calorific for sure. Drenched in oil and dripping with fat :( :( I'll stick with my tuna, thanks :) Beef rolls (rolada) are great for winter but I can't imagine eating them in summer.
