News / Poland Parliament elections in October 2011 [944]

=Seanus]in any given ward,

Psychiatric wards will go first.... :):):) Most politicians should be there. So you are right in a way, yes. :):)

But remember - w*****s, as you said, are flesh and bone representatives of the nation that elects them. I can say - we have such w*****s that we truly deserve.

It seems you have already lost your ideals.

I haven`t lost mine!! I believe in the righteousness of my favourite candidates. People like Gowin can`t be tricksters.

=gumishu]if you vote for Gowin it's almost like you vote for PiS

Not exactly. PiS is like fire, Gowin is like water. :):):)

Don`t worry, I know what I am doing. :):):)

BTW, wasn`t Gowin in PiS before? I believe he was but couldn`t google it anywhere.....

=gumishu]had Gowin not Tusk been the head of PO in 2005 we would have had a PO-PiS coalition

Who knows?

Probably that is why I also like Tusk. He didn`t allow Kaczyński to take him for a ride. :):):):) The Duck is a master in it. He screwed Lepper and Giertych and a few others.

Language / Chcę and chce [21]

=Zazulka]Fur sure it shouldn't be pronounced like Robie to co chce.

Maybe it shouldn`t but it is. And in result it becomes normal.

=hague1cmaeron]Yes he seems like a really placid genuine guy, what about the rest of the ticket/list?

hague1cmaeron]This would be my top 10 in your district:

1. Jerzy Fedorowicz
2. Jarosław Gowin

I agree with 2 first positions. I presume or know they are reliable intelligent guys.

However, I don`t know much about the rest. Should I? I am going to vote Gowin only.

PiS put forward a lot of famous candidates. One of them is a special undercover policeman called Agent Tom. With PiS in power, his task was to seduce influential female celebrities with his glamourous lifestyle and con them into corruption schemes.

Suggested appearance when he remained undercover

He drives a Porsche Cayenne, rides a Harley-Davidson, wears Armani suits, flaunts platinum credit cards, flashes expensive dental work and seduces women in the line of duty - and has just had his cover blown by Polish newspapers. The 33-year-old agent, who uses multiple pseudonyms, is the most energetic operative for the country's controversial Anti-Corruption Agency (CBA).

Yes, that is the case. Thanks.

That is Polish law. Messy. No excuse for that, even if the party scores around 1% support in polls, much below minimum. They are losers (the last time they got into Sejm was 20 years ago), but democracy should be respected.

News / Poland Parliament elections in October 2011 [944]

=MyMom]Looks like the elections will be invalidated and repeated and no one can do anything about it :D :D :D

There was a problem with registering some candidates of a minute right-wing party which is taking part in elections. I am not sure what it is all about. It seems they delayed registering their candidates and the law is not clear about it.

So do you know who your candidate is or in what order you will vote PAWIAN?

Yes.
I have been thinking of posting my choice here for some time now.

he doesn't need to - he only votes for PO so that PiS can't govern

That is an unfair supposition.

In Krakow I support Jarosław Gowin, No 3 on the list of PO candidates. As a devout Catholic, he belongs to the conservative wing in PO, is very independent and able to formulate wise objection to PO`s too liberal propositions. Wise, because he is tolerant and shows readiness to accept others` different point of view.

Additionally, he is an extremely placid person - I have never heard/seen him lose temper, raise his voce etc. He doesn`t abuse his opponents. When he argues, he uses reason.

I must say that his activity and character is impressive, IMHO.

In the latest Journalists` Favourite Parliament Member poll he won a place in the top 10. :):):):)

Life / My impressions on Poland I: The People, Politics, The Countryside and Infrastructure [39]

hahahahahahaha. what a heap of steaming bull sh!t..............." I used my 1930s guidebook"............

Well, just a provocation which contains a grain of truth but also a lot of BS, indeed.

But it is humorous at least. :):):):)

E.g.,

The Public Transportation system is brilliant.

:):):):):):):)

I wonder where the guy comes from that he/she thinks so. The Antarctic where he/she uses dog sleds only? ):):):):)

News / 4th Polish Republic may re-emerge [244]

Ooops, yes, of course you are right. I made a mistake - somehow I thought we were talking about Polish GNP, not a budget. .

Really sorry for that, you were professional with your figures after all while I was too hasty. Forgive me, please.

Good job, Gumishu. :):):):)

BTW, Poland has done a good job too. 21 years ago the budget was 20 billion, today it is about 120.

I certainly will. And I am taking my wife who shares my views and we are taking our grandparents who will vote PO too because they say: We will vote whoever you do as you know better.

Not bad. :):):)

News / 4th Polish Republic may re-emerge [244]

It is very unprofessional of you. If you throw figures that you liked....... What should we think about you and everything you say here, tell me?

It took me 30 seconds to find the figures.

I encourage you to do the same, even if it will take you longer.

But if you do, it will mean you are a serious participant in our discussion.

So far, you haven`t proven it. You seem to have dropped from the moon with your theories.

I am giving you a chance. If you are Polish, not Plastic Polish, you will be able to find it.

News / 4th Polish Republic may re-emerge [244]

=gumishu]and back then it was perhaps more like 1/3 of the whole Polish budget I guess (not even from the top of my head)

Please, can you check sources before you post such BS?

=gumishu]someone who believes Polish industries were sold for a fraction of their actual worth will be an 'idealogue from the moon'

Exactly. Do you know anything about the condition of Polish industry in 1990? I don`t think so.

Work / Jobs for expats in Warsaw...? [6]

=ComingSoon]My wife and I are considering moving to Warsaw in the near future and my wife who is a Turkish citizen wonders what sort of jobs might be available in the city to someone who doesn't speak Polish.

I am really interested in the opposite direction.

I speak Polish and English. Suppose I move to Turkey. What jobs could I do without speaking Turkish?

News / 4th Polish Republic may re-emerge [244]

=gumishu]3rd Republic (Trzecia Rzeczpospolita) is an political entity that is corrupt to the core and corruption is at its roots (corruption was and mainly remains the essence of the system) -

That is a typical PiS-like mania. You are sick. :):):):):

=gumishu] hence some people in Poland wanted 4th Republic - a new beginning - the term was coined by Paweł Śpiewak -

And why did the concept of 4th Republic collapse?

I will tell you why: because PiS used bolshevik and fascist methods to introduce it. The main symbol of PiS rule in Poland was witch hunts.

Sorry, as an intelligent person you surely realise it wasn`t the right way. :):):):)

Travel / Is panhandling a common sight in Poland? [24]

It's good to know the majority of handhandlers in Poland, are as not obnoxious as others seen elsewhere

It just occured to me that women are more often accosted by strangers than men. E.g., I have never been asked for money at the filling station. The last time a lost couple got 5 zlotys from me for their train trip home was about 13 years ago. I still remember it because I was in the Market Square with my girlfriend who became my wife later on. I gave them 5 zlotys though I strongly suspected they made up the whole story to get dough for drugs. Let them be so.

Then nothing like that happened to me.

I think he burnt all the bridges - he has just published a book about his PO experiences. He describes what PO leaders do when drunk etc.

Delicious! :):):)

But he is a loser anyway. No book will help him to get to the Parliament. He is too antireligious for most Poles.

Work / Advice on Teaching English in Poland [709]

=milky]I Think it was a book by Antony Burgess(Mouth Full Of Air) that I read about 10 years ago. It stated that the Posh English accent (that Thatcher and others speak)

My mother who started learning English at the age of 40 or so claimed that Thatcher and the Queen are the best English speakers ever - she could understand everything what they say.

News / 4th Polish Republic may re-emerge [244]

=Grzegorz_]You basically admitted that PiS gov was not that bad but media made it look like s*it.

I agreed that in terms of finance and economy it was all right. Nothing special, though. The crisis hadn`t started yet, so it was enough to let the market go its own way and have excellent indexes in result.

As for media, don`t you think it is time for you to accept their role as the 4th power in the state? Did the media make up conflicts created by PiS?

No!

So? What is your problem with media?

Beer party is gone. Polish politics is dead serious nowadays. Well, except for PiS` pranks. :):):): Even the clown Palikot has become very formal.
