News / Poland Should Beef Up Military [286]

The kraut really needs to look at basic facts

Which were?

As far as I history remember Poland got handed their independence on a platter after WWI and got even more land after WWII, both not on their own!

That makes you dependant on generous bigger powers but not really the stronger one...:)

What happens when you are on your own shows the time BEFORE allied intervention...surely you've heard of the partitions and 1939?

What is this with Poles and their history understanding?

Our potential enemies (in longer perspective) are as usual Germany and Russia, the latter already have nuclear weapons. Germany would join them quickly if they will need.

What makes you say that?
You surely have reasons, don't you...

3 nuclear countries side by side (no make that four with France) is such a splendid idea! :)

News / Poland Should Beef Up Military [286]

Poland is innocent for the most part, from day one Russians and Germans wanted to destroy us just look at the facts the list!

Crowie? Is that you?

The viability of the emerging state was assured by the early Piast leaders' persistent territorial expansion, which beginning with a very small area around Gniezno

The Polanie tribe conquered and merged with other Slavic tribes

It fought wars with the Polabian Slavs, the margraves of the Saxon Eastern March (Gero in 963-964 and Hodo in 972), and the Czechs. By around 990, when Mieszko I officially submitted his country to the authority of the Holy See (Dagome iudex), he had transformed Poland into one of the strongest powers in central-eastern Europe.

Contrary to what Mieszko had intended, his oldest son Bolesław managed to become the sole ruler of Poland. A man of high ambition and strong personality, he embarked on further territorial expansion to the west, south, and east

in 1018 also Bolesław took over the western part of Red Ruthenia

After Bolesław's death his son, King Mieszko II Lambert, tried to continue his father's politics, having his kingdom act as an interventionist great power.

in 1047 Masovia was taken back from Miecław, and in 1050 Silesia form the Czechs

In 1226 Konrad I of Masovia invited the Teutonic Knights to help him fight the Prussian people

Casimir unsuccessfully tried to recover Silesia by conducting military activities against the Luxembourgs between 1343 and 1348

During the Hussite Wars (1420-1434) Jagiełło, Vytautas and Sigismund Korybut were invoved in political and military maneuvering concerning the Czech crown,

The idea, accepted in Poland over Oleśnicki's objections, resulted in two unsuccessful Polish military expeditions to Bohemia.

Casimir declared a war on the Order and a formal incorporation of Prussia into the Polish Crown; those events led to the Thirteen Years War

In 1569 Royal Prussia had its legal autonomy largely taken away, and in 1570 Poland's supremacy over Gdańsk and the Polish King's authority over the Baltic shipping trade were regulated and received statutory recognition.

The Polish-Muscovite War (1605-1618) took place in the early-1600's as a sequence of military conflicts and eastward invasions carried out by the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth,

....just some reminders as you don't seem to know your own history very well...
You Poles are as greedy as the best of us!:)
And as I said, you only play the victim because you happen to be now be the neighbours of stronger nations, but that wasn't always the case...You call them your "arch enemies" I call that "sour grapes"! :)

oh, cut your crap krautboy.

I'm shaking!

if our neighbours were far stronger we would be speaking russian or barking shwabian.

Well you did more often than the other way around!

Well, thanks to good old Britain, France and America ;)

Exactly!

So I really doubt "beefing up your military" is the right way....your military is NOT what will give you security!
But for example being nice to "jebane niemiaszki"..

News / Poland Should Beef Up Military [286]

from the beginning Poland had to fight every fuckin century.

It takes two to tango (or to fight).
Don't present Poland as the ever oh so innocent virgin...you could never say no to a good brawl!

And look at some posters - already wishing for "beefing up" and wanting to be "prepared" again....can't wait...I remember very well how polish poster showed off proudly pics from polish troops in Iraq, feeling so "cool" about it.

Don't try to sell us that you are a peace loving people contrary to all your blood thirsty neighbours....pluuuueeeease!
Your problem is only that most of your neighbours are by far stronger than you are and that you get your ass handed to you more often than not, that's all.

I think moving to Poland or reading non-american media would moderate your views.

The Kaczinskies and the Bushies are gone...(or lost power at least).
People were fed up with their confrontation policy...a new thawing is the mood.
Bad times for warmongers on all sides!

UK, Ireland / Britain... What the Poles did for us. [444]

Germany is highly multicultural too. German, the official language of tourism.

I don't mind european multi-kulti which by fare make the majority of Germany's multi-kulti but I object to to many non-european imports!

Our current 3,6% muslims is enough I think......

Life / Why do people think that I'm Polish ? [92]

He takes pride in saying that at least one of his parents was not Aryan/Teutonic, but instead of Slavic origin, as with millions of his fellow countrymen-:)

He seemed to have forgotten about that as he joined the Waffen-SS...

Most of Germany doesn't either...we don't even know what our soldiers are doing there at all!

Well...about that...how said a BBC commentator so nice:

"The USUK seems to want from Germany some Waffen-SS Divisions but under their own command!"

Won't happen, sorry!
You made Germany a pacifist/pacified country with purpose - now don't expect crack front troops just because they would come in handy!

Don't you feel that the Brits would try to bully other armies into doing things their way? British Army folk have a lot of pride.

I too think that is the future!

The core of such a european army is already being build...the seeds are sown so to
speak, still tiny but alive and kicking nonetheless:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eurocorps

...Six countries participate in Eurocorps as "framework nations": France, Germany, Belgium(from 1993), Spain (from 1994), Luxembourg (from 1996)[2] and Poland (from 2008).

A further seven countries have pledged troops or contribute operational staff: Austria, Turkey, Greece, the United Kingdom, Finland, Italy and the Netherlands. ...

Life / Do Polish People steal a lot? [330]

I am not formillier with the joke Seanus can you tell me

With motor vehicles in particular illegal trade routes are more common than others. Cars stolen in Britain are often traced to countries in Africa while those stolen in Germany or the Czech Republic may well be sold in Poland or Russia.

New technology is critical to tracking stolen cars. A car's identity can be quickly transmitted to police forces and customs in neighbouring countries.

In the Czech Republic, the records only match current plates, and as there is no system for write-offs, number plates can be easily traded and forged.

This technological deficiency has led to many cars being stolen by placing old plates over the new and traded to clients in Poland and Russia.

So frustrated are detectives that they often joke that the Polish Tourist Board should publish a poster showing an area of beautiful countryside and the caption: "Come to Poland, your car's already here!"

bbc.co.uk/worldservice/programmes/global_crime_report/crime/theft.shtml

That's one, but there are more...just google!

News / GERMANS WANT TO GERMANIZE KOPERNIK (COPERNICUS)! OUTRAGE! [1016]

News / GERMANS WANT TO GERMANIZE KOPERNIK (COPERNICUS)! OUTRAGE! [1016]

There is supposed evidence to suggest

ROFL :):):)

Copernicus' father was a treasurer of Zwiazek Jaszczurczy (Lizard Organisation) an organisation involved in protecting Polish interests against these of Teutonic Order. Among other things they co-financed the 1466 war between Poland and the Order

Well...why do you leave out the important fact:

Lizard Union (medieval), an organization of Prussian nobles and knightsopposed to the Teutonic Knights

Now you have it! Nickis father wasn't not only not a Pole but a Prussian knight and his mama was from a wealthy German merchants family!

Bingo!!!
(Thank you Luki)

PS: Luki, you really should read more about these conflict Copernicus and others were involved in (also the Lizard union). It has nothing to do with a Polish freedom fight:

The war started as an uprising by Prussian cities and the local nobility with the goal of gaining independence from the Teutonic Knights. The Prussian Confederation asked the Polish king for help and offered to incorporate Prussia into the Kingdom of Poland. When the king agreed, war between Poland supporting one faction of the Prussians against the Prussians in support of government by the Teutonic Knights broke out. It ended with the Second Peace of Thorn (1466) in favor of the confederacy and Poland, and was followed by the War of the Priests, about independence of the Prussian priests against Poland from 1467-1479.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thirteen_Years%27_War_%281454%E2%80%9366%29

It was an inter-Prussian civil war, not a Polish-germane war!

News / GERMANS WANT TO GERMANIZE KOPERNIK (COPERNICUS)! OUTRAGE! [1016]

Another good article:

www-groups.dcs.st-and.ac.uk/~history/Biographies/Copernicus.html

...As a native German speaker he joined the "German Nation of Bologna University". Each student contributed to the "German Nation" an amount they could afford and the small contribution that Copernicus made indicates his poor financial position at that time.

What a "Pole"...:):):)

BB - Even your source doesn't come out and claim him as Pure German as well....

No they don't....it's actually a good and as I find fair source and a reason why I still think we could share him.

But if some Poles are still determined to make him a full blooded polish freedom fighter hating Germans then I claim him for Germany (and fact is most indicates that I would win at the court)

And are you going to appologize to the good people of this forum for your lie or are you going to change the subject as usual?

My source was this:

economicexpert.com/a/Copernicus:nationality.htm

Take it to them if you want one accusing of lying. And if I were prone to change a subject this thread wouldn't now contain 15 pages.

Sorry Maty...it isn't my fault if the two most famous Poles weren't real Poles (Chopin-french, Kopernikus-german)!
That you hang onto them desperately because there is not much else to show off to the world community (to the contrary to your neighbours) is understandable - ignoring facts is not!

PS: But you make good popes! (And he was a full Pole or so I've heard - you can keep him!) :)
