News / What is the population of Poland's non-european minority? [142]

We are discussing problems with migration and social evolution not hard science, all terms used by you here are non quantifiable, what was your point?

When discussing such matters, it is wise to not speak in absolutes as many have done here. When someone writes of "over-willing" immigrants and "under-willing" hosts, they've left everything up to interpretation and basically muddied the waters of clear discourse through their introduction of such terms.

You said the US is the only nation that do not have specific race. Have you ever heard about Brazil?

No sh*t, most people don't realize to what extent some ethnic "issues" in North and South America mirror each other.

News / What is the population of Poland's non-european minority? [142]

What's your problem, there have been legitimate criticisms of some effects of multiculturalism by at least one academic which were brought up in this thread. You simply ignored it. You aren't happy with the definition of multiculutralism that people on this topci have agreed upon but haven't nominated a different definition. You speak in absolutes and insult anyone who doesn't. Take a time out.

If you honestly can't think of a single negative effect that has ever come out of multiculturalism then I guess that's how you see things, but with all things, there are advantages and drawbacks, so your assertions on this matter can simply, by way of reasoning, be disregarded. Sorry.

You can point and namecall all you want but you're the one who made the ridiculous statement to begin with and haven't accepted the given definition of multi-culturalism- you're thowing up smokescreens while offering no substance and baseless accussations. What gives?

And the level of debate for the wikipedia page you cite isn't much better than some of RN's posts here.

So bring your own definition of multiculturalism into this and we can see where that takes things.

The key thing here is that multiculturalism isn't the same as immigration by a long chalk.

You still haven't met my request. If you cannot do so then my answer will have to be: No, I am not confusing multiculturalism with anything else- it infact can diminish quality of life, safety, community cohesion, understanding and can have disastrous effects on education systems as well- you can do a quick internet search.

Examples of said enrichment, s'il vous plaît ?

^Actually you've made his task too easy:

If multiculturalism "always enriches" you simply have to find one example in which multiculturalism has worsened a relationship, neighborhood, community or nation. History and the present day is rife with instances of multiculturalism damaging, his statement on this matter is worthless in that it is completely and inarguably false.

Work / English native speaker without a teaching experience moved to Poland and got a job [66]

harryashi

Dude, I don't know how old you are but it seems you're young and inexperienced, you'd do well to heed the advice/warnings of the members whom you view as being "negative." While the message may be unpalpatable (not what you want to hear), those members have largely written you the truth.

Being an entertaining jacka$$ will take you as far as the first person who sees that you have no experience nor qualifications to do the job. When that happens, and it will happen, you'll need a plan b. If it's an owner/employer then say hello to living hand to mouth in Poland. Students won't tolerate paying good money for someone attempting to be a talk show host- I know of many students who have left their old teachers for that reason.

Your decisions are your decisions but if I were in your shoes and determined to come here then it'd be best to seek out methodology teaching- that's the level you might be ready for, certainly nothing more.

UK, Ireland / WHAT IS IT ABOUT POLISH PEOPLE THAT MAKES THEM THINK THAT UK WANTS THEM? [309]

If I were Polish I would stay and fight for my right to live a decent life and start to reclaim a sense of pride which is sorely lacking in Poles, along with their backbone.

That's a big "if" and you've made a lot of assumptions off of that. The difficulty is that Poles here have to fight other Poles for their right to live a decent life here. You'd best let Poles decide what's best for Poles.

News / What is the population of Poland's non-european minority? [142]

It's not big enough. Poland definitely needs more multiculturalism from non-European nations.

ABSOLUTELY RUBBISH!
Please take your anti-Polish sentiments elsewhere. It's awesome that Poland is so Polish!

Sociologically speaking, there's more "harm" to come from an unwilling host than from an over-willing immigrant.

Define "over-willing." Define "under-willing"
This is the problem with the humanities- their terms are non-quantifiable or are simply never fully defined when people want to "measure" or compare different social phenomenon. Nothing is defined and everything is interpretation and it's mostly all a load of horse-sh*t.

News / More anti Polish sentiment in western media ("Apple is worth more than Poland") [110]

Funny that out of those countries he just so happened to pick Poland as an example, degrading one, pointing out that a some company is worth more than a country. And funny that the author is a David Goldman. Zionist prick.

???
I'm starting to wonder if this is just a giant troll thread that some members are in on. What in the world would give anyone the idea Poland was being degraded- the numbers seem rather impassionate. If you can debate the numbers then do so but emotional outbursts serve no real purpose here, do they?

Polish jokes, you can even see them on the comments

So are you whining about the article and the light in which you think Poland was cast or about the comments?
Having read the article I can see that the writer simply used numbers in choosing the countries he did. We went down a list of countries' gdps or gnps and chose a variety-whoopdeedoo!

The comments? Looks like mostly Polish people who got offended that someone didn't praise Poland and by proxy them for being Polish and very loosely related to something some other Polish person accomplished in the past- a f'n virus with a lot of people lately.

History / A little reminder for those Brits that ***** about Poles [143]

Since I cant find the answer..I will leave it up to some one smarter than myself.

I don't know if there is an "answer" I just wondered what your opinion is.
It's odd that you're so quick to acquiesce on the position you set out in the original post....wait a minute...(sigh) shame on me...*leaves thread*

Travel / Driving in Poland, are there any rules at all? [149]

What I'm becoming increasingly sure of in Poles is that they're, generally speaking, poor assessors of risk, at least when driving. I'm not even sure if it's assessing risk vs. reward or simply an inability to recognize it at all.

Travel / Is Poland's Wroclaw zoo worth visiting? [17]

I love zoos.
The Wrocław zoo gave me and my missus a sad face. Some of the enclosures were tortorously small. One larger cat paced back and forth 4 steps one way and four steps the other way-NON STOP: ( This was over 4 years ago, some say it's been improved- I hope so.

History / A little reminder for those Brits that ***** about Poles [143]

My complaint is that the Poles earned their way by contributing their service in a time of need

so in other words, all following generations get to ride the coat tails of their ancestors or, conversly, apologize for the sins of their parents, and grand-parents, and great-grandparents and so on?

That just doesn't sound like a very good recipe for moving forward.

UK, Ireland / Why can't unemployed Polish people on benefits just leave UK and go home please? [240]

What I've learned on PF is that any Brit who airs grievances with foreigners abusing the UK benefits system is a BNP supporter. The fact that they're not only focusing on Brits abusing the British system is the proof of this. It can only be one or the other with no middle ground.

No wonder nothing gets solved, with so many of you spineless cnuts ready to be so flippant with anyone who voices their desire for a change.

News / Should countries be boycotted for offending Poles? [60]

Both small and big business suffered and the local economy was badly hit with for example crops left rotting in fields as the labour who had previously harvested them were gone.

Do you realize how much of European agriculture is heavily subsidized and a big make work project anyhow? Do you realize to what degree 3rd world farmers are restricted from entering the global agriculture market as a another artificial mechanism to protect/allow European production? If we're going to advocate equality then let's not play favourites.

I don't agree with you with regards the Chinese comment. Poland has signed up to the EU with all that entails (free movement etc) and is receiving hundreds of millions of EUR in EU subsidies as a result, money which is creating jobs for Poles in a variety of areas, not least construction as the infrastructure is improved.

Okay, I can see where you're coming from regarding Polish people's place in the EU vs the Chinese being outsiders
but I don't see what consequence I am to draw from your illustration.

Social Welfare rates are very low in Poland as well, so it's unlikely to suffer from the 'welfare tourism' that some countries have to deal with.

I really don't know what you're driving at with this either.

it would be difficult for the Poles to complain about immigration when so many have emigrated themselves.

I thought you had stated it's within a Pole's right to work freely in Europe as that's what they're signed up for (whether they really voted for it or not)? Were you trying to say you thought the China example was a bad comparison? My point is that not all people benefit or have benefited equally or have taken advantage of all the range of what is legal equally- ome simply can't. It is within their right to say they don't like the equality if it affects them negatively, imo.

News / Should countries be boycotted for offending Poles? [60]

Considering Englands tendency to go around invading countries where they weren't wanted, I'm constantly surprised by their unhappiness at people from these self same countries coming to England...

Yeah it's really been the rank and file Englander that went about making these decisions and setting up shop all over the globe.

OK that's somewhat tongue in cheek, and not applicable to Poland but it's an attitude that's always puzzled me.

Be puzzled no more: You cannot logically hold children responsible for the crimes of their parents. I.E. You cannot logically hold descendants accountable for the crimes of their ancestral countrymen and women.

If a bunch of Chinese workers were to come into Poland, the Poles here would have every right to complain- they're here in Poland, where they're supposed to be following your logic.

To put this Wilders stance into context, quantified research from the University of Rotterdamn have found his claims that mass immigration from Eastern Europe has hit the economy to be completely false.

We should question how the term "economy" is being used. It's perfectly plausible that the "economy" of a country can increase while the standard of living can decrease for the majority of people. All you need is greater net gains in the hands of a few to offset large net losses spread out over the majority. I don't know how the data was gathered but misrepresenting/misinterpreting economic data is nothing new.

Business leaders in Holland have also expressed concerns...

And wouldn't ya know it, it's the richest who stand to lose if he's right...or so it seems...

Love / Do some Polish women prefer older men for money? [57]

We have seen here on the forum people (mostly males) saying negative things about poorer people like Africans, etc. They have done similar complain about the rich men when the women go to them. So, what do you understand from this?

Preach on brother, preach on!

Some gals think more "hey, there are richer men than you" and they go with them who are usually older people and, we see guys like andrewwright with complains.

Amen to that.
The OP's question could hardly be any more redundant- edit , some Polish women are like that - so what?

News / Should countries be boycotted for offending Poles? [60]

And you teach Polish children? For fck's sake, ask yourself a question "How is that possible that Poles are semi slaves in Holland instead of working OUR POLISH soil, doing exactly the same thing but getting ALL the profits"?Maybe not conciously (I am trying to excuse you now) but you are part of the problem we have here in Poland.

And who do you think is to blame for this?
Are you aware that many Polish employers pay their employees so little that the employees prefer the crappy conditions in Holland to the craptacular wages and treatment they receive in Poland from their Polish employers?

Dishonesty isn't restricted to nationality and it is puzzling to me that you wouldn't have taken this into consideration.

Travel / Driving in Poland, are there any rules at all? [149]

as I was attacked by a berk when I did it last time

Untrue if you're referring to our exchange. I did debate you on the method which those numbers were arrived at and whether or not that really amounted to your assessment that driving here is just as safe as anywhere in Europe. I agreed then as I do now that things have drastically improved here in terms of roads and manners. That being said, it's simply foolish to ignore the reality that blind overtaking and the variety of interpretations of what is safe, still leaves much to be desired.
