Genealogy / Looking for Paczosa / Tomkowicz Krosno info [4]

baza.archiwa.gov.pl/sezam/pradziad.php?l=en&miejscowosc=&gmina=korczyna&wojewodztwo_id=0&wyznanie_id=0&rodzajaktu_id=0&search=search

If your ancestors were Roman Catholic, the only records found in the state archives from Korczyna (according to Pradziad) are death records from 1868-1898. Click on Korczyna, rzymskokatolickie, zgony. The records are in the Rzeszów branch - the address and the email address are given there. You can email them to ask if they have any other records from Korczyna.

Usually all records that are over 100 years old (counting from the last entry in the church books) are sent to state archives. Sometimes it took decades to fill in a church book so they might be still in the church archives. They might have been lost as well (two war worlds ...).

What kind of information/records are you looking for?
Have you checked the pradziad database?
Now that you have sent the letter and money, you can just wait and hope you had the right address and the recipient of the letter is honest and understands English. If they don't, they may just assume it was some sort of donation.

Next time just do it officially. If there's a fee, they'll tell you how much it is and the bank details.

News / Polish-German Reconcilliation Seminar [491]

Still it's hard to believe it was only German Muslims who are antisemitic.

Can you send me a link to that article in German?

Well, according to that article Muslims were responsible for considerably few antisemitic acts in Germany

UK, Ireland / 31 year old Polish man causes accident under influence of alcohol and kills 8 [198]

@jon357
No one denied the post is about a drunk lorry driver. No one defended him.
Still 'quoting' someone in that way makes you lose your credibility.

As for driving licences, I think there should be some tests both for British drivers entering Europe and the other way round. Right/left hand traffic may cause some confusion. Even for pedestrians.

As for drunk driving, if someone is irresponsible enough to drink and drive, taking another driving test won't change a thing. If they're good at driving and sane enough to be sober during the test, they'll pass it. Still there are people who would try to take it drunk, like that German last month.

UK, Ireland / 31 year old Polish man causes accident under influence of alcohol and kills 8 [198]

@jon357
Why so much drama, sir?
When did I say you're not allowed to post anything you want to? Have I tried to 'censor' you? Who denies your right to free speech?

Will I get answers to these questions or will you shun them just as usually.

But it works both ways. I'm also free to point out how inconsistent and petty you are. And the things you post just prove it.

I'm also free to question your opinions. And I do. That's what free speech is about.
I also believe it's absolutely immoral to take a part of somebody's opinion out of context and use it as a 'quote'. But I'm not surprised you did it. Yet another thing that proves your petty.

I'm laughing at how predictable you are (read #151 in the thread about the gas explosion) not at the accident. Nothing funny about it. I can't think of anyone who would justify driving drunk.

As for another Poles-are-terrible-post, it's really sad how petty and bitter you are. I guess I shouldn't have laughed at you.

Look! Jon's regular positive post about Poland. Lmao!
But we need to admit he does his best to prove we're right about him. Thank you, Jon :)

To make it clear, whoever drinks and drives, Polish or not, should be given serious sentences. If anyone gets killed in an accident caused by a drunk driver, the driver should be accused of murder.

News / Polish-German Reconcilliation Seminar [491]

Big deal, Christian churches were often built where the ancient rites had been held. Pagan rites were incorporated in Christian customs. Same here, pfff.
But pagan idols here were destroyed as part of christianisation.
Crow's an expert on Slavic deities. Crow, teach the Greek. ;)

Please back on topic everyone

News / Polish-German Reconcilliation Seminar [491]

@Marino_Kat
Mr Educated, when was the UN founded?

And these lands were occupied by Germans for far far shorter time than Slavs have been living in Macedonia. Mwah! So if you claim 1500 is not long enough, then how come Prussian occupation of Polish territories master?

Can't you see any inconsistency? Well, syphilis causes some brain damage. Get yourself examined.

These lands had been Polish before with cities like Gdańsk and Wrocław founded by Poles. But we already know you're not very educated so we forgive your ignorance.

Now go take another selfie ;)
I wonder how long it'll take the mods to ban him.

Now what's the right thing to do?

History / De-communisation in Poland? [38]

Well, when you saw ul. XX-lecia PRL or ul. Gomułki, it was staggering they hadn't changed that before.
As for the new names, I'm pretty sure at least one of the new patrons in my town is pretty questionable ;)

History / De-communisation in Poland? [38]

[moved from]

Talking about 'dekomunizacja ulic', I really don't get it why they didn't change all the 'tricky' names back in the 90s when they got rid of Dzierzynski etc from the names of the streets.

They changed quite a few names where I live and I probably don't know half of the new names. I finally understand my parents who keep calling one of the main streets here Dzierzynskiego even though it's been years since the name was changed.

Language / Why 'walczy' and not 'walczą' - Polish language question [20]

@Ziemowit
Still for a beginner, whenever possible, it may be 'safer' or more natural to use a plural masculine noun in the nominative form and the plural verb (dwaj przyjaciele mają) than a masculine noun in the genitive form and the singular verb ( dwóch przyjaciół ma).

Language / Why 'walczy' and not 'walczą' - Polish language question [20]

You can either say:

Dwaj mężczyźni walczą (dwaj+plural masculine noun in the nominative form +verb in the 3rd person plural form)
Or
Dwóch mężczyzn walczy (dwóch+plural masculine noun in the genitive form+verb in the 3rd person singular form)

Similarly
dwaj chłopcy siedzą/dwóch chłopców siedzi
dwaj koledzy grają/dwóch kolegów gra
Trzej artyści mieszkają/trzech artystów mieszka

Love / Marriage problems in Poland [50]

One more thing, if, I hope not, the whole thing ends up with divorce and she will be able to prove your infidelity, you may end up making payments to her.

Love / Marriage problems in Poland [50]

@Dirk diggler
Nah, sometimes people just need some time alone. It's not an euphemism for breaking up like in American films. If she wants a divorce, she'll tell him. If she's found someone, she'll tell. And he is looking for solution. That's what grow ups do. She's texting him back. There's hope.

Good luck whatever happens, nope.
