UK, Ireland / I'm going to a Polish New Years Eve Party in England, help?! [12]

Also, everyone will be talking Polish and I will feel like I'm annoying everyone because they will have to talk to me in English.

Don't worry, Polish people dance at the parties. Even if you can't talk to anyone you always can dance. I was once at a party with all Mexicans without knowing a world of Spanish, but they danced like crazy, so I still had a ball there.

Enjoy the party! And Happy New Year.

News / Polish twins have different fathers [67]

Honest responses, or lack of them like yours just add to the growing mistrust men have when it comes to relationships with women.

Start a relationship with a man then.

The 'sisterhood' hangs itself by it's own misandrist petard.

I like men. I just can't stand when some of them keep their brains constantly in the OFF mode.

Would you not agree that the conditions of our marriages (i.e. when they actually happen in Europe mostly) are increasingly becoming very sad?

I meant to address this earlier. What do you mean Lodz, can you specify?

Here is a typical westernized female who has no shame; and feels no responsibility.

A clip from Maury? Seriously? Are females who appear on this show typical for you?
If so, yes, request paternity testing by all means.

Not mentioned thus far is the fact that a DNA test can help determine what possible health needs the child may have.

That's the first and only rational argument in the whole discussion.

a $40 test (i looked it up for this thread)

$40 covers the swab. Then you need to add the lab work that is somewhere between 400 and 1000 dollars. So please do read more carefully next time. I also checked it for the thread.

And jet it's ok for you to imply I'm a cheater. Yes mandatory testing implies to me that I can't be trusted.

So do you suggest I start looking at the world from the perspective of your penis?

You love the status quo because if you were to cheat on your husband and get pregnant with another man you could keep that a lie for a long time, possibly for ever.

There is no such decision for me to make. I said "I do" several years ago and I meant it.

And this time the wrong you addressed was the screaming FemLib hypocrisy by Marynka11.

Hey, tea party fan, do you expect the government to make sure you get your paternity test? Who is a hypocrite here?

The only thing that a man (or I think also a proper respectable feminine woman) needs in a relationship as important as a marriage would be to rely completely on his partner, to trust, to have faith ... to be hers and to know she is his.

And jet you need a test to make sure you are the father? Don't you trust your lovely bride? I was hoping you would after reading all the nice things you said about her on this forum.

News / Polish twins have different fathers [67]

I really don't have time today to answer all the nonsense and offensive phrases directed at me or discuss this train wreck of a thread, so here are my main points just in case:

1. Mandatory paternity tests are nonsense. People who have doubts should request them on case to case basis and pay for them out of own pocket. I don't want my insurance rate to raise because some people will not take responsibility for their actions. I don't know the law, if they require woman's consent or not, but I believe men should be able to request the test without woman's consent but only if it's in the best interest of the child.

2. People should take their vows seriously, and even if they are not married they should stick to one partner. Not only it solves the problem of paternity conflicts, but also excludes the risk of spreading the STDs and HIV.

3. However people cheat, men and women. But the society looks more sternly at a cheating woman. It should be regarded as equal offense.

4. People look at others through the prism of their own values and character traits. The ones who are cheaters themselves will project that trait on others. Therefore I believe those who scream the loudest that the paternity tests should be mandatory are most likely cheaters themselves (e.g. they are banging some married woman on the side) and therefore have serious trust issues.

Any chick that sleeps with with two (more?) different men during the brief window that she's ovulating is a serious skank.

What about a man who is doing the same thing (except for the ovulation part of course). How do you describe him?

You call that "logic"? My gawd, our society is in trouble. There might be one baby switched at birth to thousands who are conceived by the 'wrong' father.

I'm sorry you don't get sarcasm you moron.

And really, if your girlfriend (if you have one, but I doubt) cheats on you you need to remember:
1. Not all women are the same
2. She cheats on you because you are such an pathetic excuse for a man.

And by all means if she gets knocked up do get a paternity test. In your case it's a must.

Or why don't we just return to Chastity Belts...? I hear Gucci make them now. ;P

And the low end ones you would get at Home Depot.

News / Polish twins have different fathers [67]

He had no suspicion whatsoever and paid child support all those years because she lied. Her lover was unemployed and she simply kept the facts to herself because she wanted the highest amount of money for the child support despite the fact her husband at the time wasn't the father. He had no idea she was cheating on him.

I really don't need any more details about your friend. I still think he had bad luck and probably his own fair share in causing the marriage fail.

And it's not selective sense of fairness. I also think the women whose husbands ditch them for younger women have bad luck, even though one could think it's some sort of age discrimination.

(not that is has anything to do with the twins fathered by two different men).

Of course you're ok with it because if you were a man you'd be called a sexist pig. Now you're just a selfish woman. ...and you're wrong about my friend.

Your friend just had a bad luck. I don't see a reason to go into general mistrust over isolated cases like that. Plus if a marriage does not work, usually both sides are guilty.

I think you definitely should get a paternity test whenever some is claiming they carry your child, if this gives you some piece of mind. But you should cover the expenses yourself. Some people actually trust their spouses and partners. That's really worth more than some piece of paper.

The situation is very one sided and it's discriminatory; you fail to see that because the current unfairness would benefit you if you decided to cheat on your husband.

No, it's not discriminatory. Everyone has the right to request a test.

Food / Turkey for New Year's dinner in Poland? [29]

Sheppard pie
Turkey Curry
Turkey enchiladas
Turkey quesadillas
Turkey soup
turkey tacos
turkey and veggie casserole
turkey and veggie stir-fry
turkey meat and buckwheat pierogi
turkey pate (you can use up the liver)

That way you can torture yourself and your family for days and days...

One year I went to NYC the day after Thanksgiving and I saw a half of a roasted turkey on the sidewalk. I thought what a good idea to use up the leftovers. Whenever I look at the leftover turkey now, my first instinct is to throw it out the window, but then I think of all the starving children...

News / Polish twins have different fathers [67]

So I assume you're ok with my friend having been paying for another man's child all those years?

Yes, I'm ok. He has a child after all that he loves. I'm sure he is not as upset about paying for that child for all those years as you are.

Why don't we also test newborns' DNA to make sure they were not switched after birth? It follows the same logic.

Personally I believe a paternity test should be mandatory for each and every child born, just in case.

That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. What good would it do, other than creating unnecessary expenses?

Travel / Has anyone seen Mazowsze (established in 1948) [9]

I've seen Mazowsze a couple years ago in the States. I have to say they gave a really beautiful show. Czar, I'm not a specialist, but I would say the music would be pretty authentic. The dancing, I'm not sure. It was very choreographed, on some occasions it almost looked like ballet. I doubt simple village folks danced like that.

Zapewne będzie się to wiązać z galopem, gwałtownością, nieopanowaniem, impulsywnością i spontanicznością

A mi wystarczy tylko kino, cukiernia i spacer żeby bylo romantycznie...

Ever add a bit of diced apple to the herring? It mellows the dish's harsh edge and rounds out its flavour.

No, herring and onion is a perfect marriage to me.

I add apple to the Śledź w śmietanie (herring in sour cream).

Love / Getting to know a Polish Man who's first time he'e ever been in the USA [12]

u could try getting him out of the office at lunch break.

I would go for that option as well. It's casual enough not to have the going on date feeling and you can get to know each other better. And if he is traditional it still leaves him the option to ask you on a real date first.

USA, Canada / Expat Poles swearing allegiance to the US - how did you feel? [157]

Lol. Spoken like an unattractive woman.

Spoken like a thinking woman. And pretty too.

Does it matter what color he was, Lib?

It doesn't, Redneck.

Ugly Liberals sure like their labels.

Yes, and I will keep and treasure the two you gave me today:
1. Ugly
2. Liberal
Those are two things I found out about myself today.

BTW, I forgot to add to my "What I like about America" list:
I like stupid American males. They never fail to entertain.

Now I'm out of here. Sweet dreams to you. About greatness :)

OK, tell us what you like here for a change.

I like the education. I like how the schools are problem solving oriented.
I like how the people are optimistic. How they can switch careers even in their 40ties and 50ties they don't blame anyone for their misfortunes.

I like how women are independent. How they can be themselves and not feel the need to be charming and flirtatious all the time.
I like how easy it is here to start a business.
I like how people volunteer for their communities.
I like how young people get a job and try to be in charge of their life.
I love how Americans respect talent.
I love how people look with glassy eyes at succes stories and they don't feel jelousy, just admiration.
I love hoe people are tolerant and non-judgemental (at least the majority)
I love how Americans are patient with the accents.
I loved going to college here (and I did pay out-of state rates, no worries).
Felt soft around my heart for America last summer when I flew in from Poland and when through passport control with my two kids one speaking German, one speaking English and me speaking Polish to them and a black officer said "welcome home".

Enough? Or should I keep going?

Oh, looks who is here, ready and eager to defend fellow campers:)

Why can't you people get it. If one doesn't agree with certain things in America it doesn't mean they hate America. There is good things and bad things everywhere and if one dares to mention the negative things they notice here you people feel offended on personal level. Isn't free speech for everyone what America stands for?
