News / Polish Independence Day March in Warsaw. Is it going to be the biggest march yet? [1530]

It's apparently the same with Russians and Putin, the most fevered pro-Putinists are Russians in the US...

That's a very well known psychological phenomenon.

Many of the Turks in Germany have voted for Erdogan...but none of them packs the bags to return to the promised Sultanat. They prefer the living standard and also the freedoms Germany has to offer.

It's common that expats develop a strong nationalism and that kind of split personality. That has to do with keeping to the roots in a foreign land, to rescue something from home. That's what connects them. And the longer they are away the more rosier and blurrier the memory becomes. That fogs their political decisions too...since they often only get their infos from nationalist media outlets and don't know anymore how life really is in their home country they have left for many years.

Many of the Germans in the US were more Nazis then the Germans at home during the Thirties...

Nazis, Soviets still have allot to answer for, not just in Poland.

That's just sad....Interwar Poland sounds like an interesting place to be (to have been?)...

...even the more liberal PO party would be considered conservative or at the very least centrist in w europe usa canada etc. its all relative though.

True too...

thosr are just 4 reasons why poland TODAY is far more socially conservative and less liberal and multicultural than w europe.

These points sound rather like consequences than reasons...

most people still thought the world was flat and the center of the universe

Well...not in 1932! :)

it made homosexuality not a crime and recognized them as a group no different than poles recognizing the gypsies.

They did that too in Interwar Poland...

Liberalism AND multiculturalism in Poland much earlier than elsewhere!

Compared to your image of Poland:

Unfortunately most of the W European nations have in their push to become high priests of multiculturalism and PC.

How was their mentality different to modern Poles? And why did it change?

Liberalism? Gay rights? Didn't you imply to be against that is somewhat part of the polish mentality? Or did I get you wrong?

Because if that would be and the stereotypical Pole is anti-liberal...anti-gay rights...who were these people in Poland back then in 1932? What was their mentality?

That decision in that time is nothing but awesome...at a time where everywhere in Europe people could get jailed and murdered for having the wrong preference.

How is that not a factual image?

That:

Poland thankfully has not succumbed to such thinking.

"Such thinking" meaning between others gay rights...you had no idea that homosexuality was an officially allowed part of Poland earlier than everwhere else, hadn't you?

That Poland was much more liberal much earlier than others...that doesn't fit your image.

Gay marriage remains illegal in Poland.

So what...that is just a side dish, even not all gays are of one opinion in that regard.

Fact is that Poland was much more progressive back then as in most countries the dark ages still ruled! They were FIRST!

...Since the foundation of Poland in 966, Polish law has never defined homosexuality as a crime.[4][5] Forty years after Poland lost its independence in 1795, the sodomy laws of Russia, Prussia, and Austria came into force in the partitioned Polish territory. Poland regained its independence in 1918 and abandoned the laws of the occupying powers

Heh:) You really have no idea....

Poland was first in Europe to acknowledge gay rights!

Both male and female same-sex sexual activity are legal in Poland. This was formally codified in 1932, and Poland introduced an equal age of consent for homosexuals and heterosexuals, which was set at 15.

Poland is in NATO.

Well...so that means there is no "slavic" brotherhood at all, isn't there? It's like a "germanic brotherhood" without Germany...or a "celtic Brotherhood" without Scotland...

People there already thinks they are on wrong side and understand where is enemy.

Every country has it's nutters! :)

No...I wonder where does that "slavic brotherhood" leaves Poland. It was notably absent in these military excercises...

Hate is...unproductive.

Hate is at foremost self-destructive. Hitler was full of hate, he so wanted to get even with France! Look what it got him...

The same principle applies to countries.

So, you want to get even with Germany? For WWII? How so?

SLAVIC BROTHERHOOD 2018

Yeah...I wonder where that leaves Poland....

raped a few thousand and collected tens of billions along the way....

That is crap! Every time such an animal rapes a girl it is widely reported in the german media..and even as one is one to many I can't remember more than a handful and a loss of "ten's of billions" should be surely felt in the state budget by now!

that would've been a good idea in 2015 when merkel welcomed every low skilled third rapefugee with two left hands.

So...because Germany left it's borders open to a few thousand refugees it should be bombed?

Seriously? Are you for real???

Nah, in the age of nuclear weaponry Germans are not stupid enough to show their true face :-)

What is my true face?

Wasn't that Churchill who said that Germany should be bombed every 50 years as a matter of principle?

Would that make you feel better?

Apropos Churchill:

"I look forward to a United States of Europe, in which the barriers between the nations will be greatly minimised and unrestricted travel will be possible.'

We must build a kind of United States of Europe..The structure of the United States of Europe, if well and truly built, will be such as to make the material strength of a single state less important...

'We cannot aim at anything less than the Union of Europe as a whole, and we look forward with confidence to the day when that Union will be achieved.'"

So since we already know the finale of the game the most important part is to be prepared to play :-)

Ever heard of a "self-fulfilling prophecy"? :)

You keep expecting the worst, you act as if you are surrounded by enemies, cooperation becomes sellout, trust becomes treason, bitching and interfering becomes pride and then no wonder, people leave you alone. With only an far away ally (who couldn't care less)...

....but Poland and Germany do it better than the US in my opinion. The time of these judges is limited (in Germany 12 years and ending with the age of 68).

No drama like in the US where such a judge has to die on his seat before a change can take place.

french, british, german males fiddling through their manbags looking for a hand grenade, more likely to throw a electric stubble shaver

Yeah...well...you find that funny, but consider our violent past and the destruction these manly men back then brought...

what a joke once she gets an army she will invade anyone that disagrees with her.

Seriously dude? She is only in power for two more years...

how many Filipinos want to come to Poland and freeze their tropical @sses off for Polish wages (as opposed to German or Scandinavia....)

I wonder how many of them will use Poland as their entry gate to get jobs in Germany...here they are sought desperatedly for example as nurses in care homes.

vulgarized term `multi-culturalism` to the extreme.

Nah...we are ALL serbs, after all! :)

Austria chiefly incited by Germany

Nope...Germany incited by Austria! Germany's political error was the loyalty to Austria as Austria-Hungary declared war against Serbia....

It was after all Bismarck who said:

"Der ganze Balkan ist nicht die gesunden Knochen eines einzigen pommerschen Grenadiers wert." (The whole of the Balkans is not worth the bones of a single Pomeranian grenadier.)

The Balkan was important to Austria-Hungary, not to Germany....

Hmm...."hindsight is twenty/twenty", or so they say.

You can't put Europe's suicide on Princip's shoulders. Sure, he delivered the spark, but all powers back then where chafing at their bits to to start the fire...if not him, it would have been something/somebody else.

In the same vein he isn't responsible for Polands independence...that wasn't on his mind at all...
