Life / Differences in Polish, American and British mentality [237]

ok Marynka11, I had a stigma of being "Polish" too way back when, I've realized it was stupid.

I've gone through some life experiences that made me realize that even though people were thinking they had hard in PL they were sheltered from the real "jungle life", (as I call it).

We live in a free market society where the strongest survives, (everything goes) and there are no nice social protections offered here like back in Europe. Some people love it and others hate it.

After a few decades, we look at ourselves from the opposite sides of the mirror, those who survived the shitstorm and adjusted and those who remained back in Poland (mentally or physically). We try to communicate but it's not working out as you see. Try to meet us half way.

collaborating scum had nearly destroyed.

don't blame that kid for his father's mistakes.

It's about the bigger picture. We share a lot of common traits that were developed by experiencing the harsh realities of Poland in 70's 80's and 90's. What I'm trying to do is to help you guys to get over it. (and myself too) Call me self-righteous in my quest if you want.

You know Havok, your and PennBoy's problem is that you keep the picture of Poland and Polish people in some 1989

I hate to wake you up from your dream about alternate reality you are in, but here it is again: Poland moved on.

I was there last year. anything new happened? Besides I'm not dissing Poland you silly goose, I'm talking about the Polish MENTALITY that remains embedded in us, no matter what has changed around us. Do you guys want me write in caps? Just say it.

Aren't some of you supposed to be millionaires?

yeah i remember that. I was going to tell you.. 6 figure salary means over 100k you douche, learn your math :)

Off-Topic / Penn and all I owe you an explanation... ref to Polish vs. British vs. American [38]

I didn't participate with all that rage. But he crossed the borders with me and I feel that he should be suspended for that for good.

Having a guilty mind? Well done Mrs. instigator.

What is it with trolls on this forum threatening violence towards people?

you drive people nuts dude. Come down a little. Say something that makes sense once a while and you're going to be alright.

Pretty damn obvious from your use of Polack that you're not who you say you are, but rather some rather bored college student who had to sit by as his girlfriend got nailed by some Polish guy.

Well dope, yes obviously I'm bored, I just got back from work, and here i am writing crap on PF again.
See, me and you are not really that different. You're a confused Russian living in Poland scraping by, and I'm confused as well, living in US wondering why I'm being drawn this stupid site.

I guess I'm fascinated by the mirror image of myself that I see in you guys, (except for Iron because his calming to be a Polack-Chink from north Korea, btw are you hiding out, or something? sorry none of my business).

Dope, I'm you in a different reality, I'm not a student, and I was the guy nailing other people's girlfriends and a few moms, which I'm ashamed off. If that happens to me, I would say it's a payback for all the wrong I've done.

Ha? :D Cannot take the truth ? Sayonnara !

i'm back i had to drive home. So what do you have to say?

You shouldn't make spurious generalizations about millions of people based on the remarks of some of the few Polish-Americans that post on this forum.

You can't deny there are a lot of similarities. I'm sure you're one of those nicest and righteous Polish-Americans. Good for you for being different (i mean Better) than the rest of us arrogant ones

For all we know, it could be the same person!

You're absolutely right, i was just thinking that. I AM YOU HERE. I hope this is not too confusing for you.

You gave it to me by asking such question as in the thread subject

Fair game, you're vicious, mean, competitive and persistent... must be Polish-American than.

See PGTX that's why I don't seek out Polish here. We would rip each other apart.

oh, so you started picking on me? I thought you want to discuss and explain things...

wow, you're so swift, you're attempts at trying to provoke me are pathetic.

You remind me those women back in Poland that would stare out at the window all day and than gossip to the rest of the day about what they've seen. I'm not sure why I have that image in my head, I just do.

What gives you the right to judge me lady?

How do you know she has no life?
You can hardly accuse other people of making generalisations when you're making one about her.

She likes stereotypes so do I. Please refer to the above - an old lady staring out the window and gossiping all day - an image in my head.

well, do you exept congratulations or a medal? you're not the only one, you know...

nah, i'm just saying. It pains me when you say something to make a point and people like puella try to use it to make a point about arrogant Polish-Americans.

So yes it's Polish thing. Don't you look down on Poles in the Old Country right now?

no i'm looking down on you, because you got no life lady.

No but it's Polish reality.
I don't want to go back to this discussion again but I just wanna say that you showed then your true colors. You started to boast about yourself and called other people losers.

my true colors are that I’ve been kicked out of my home at age 17 and I made it in a foreign country on my focking own.

This can't be as hard as finding an apartment in Poland and live separately from your parents a few miles down the road. This is where I’m coming from if you get my drift.

and i'm a just another kid, nothing special.

sorry to say that but sounds like Havok I remember when he started to post here and laugh out that young people in Poland leave home so late

Do you really think it’s ok for kids to live with their mommy and daddy forever? Is that a part of the Polish mentality?

Off-Topic / Penn and all I owe you an explanation... ref to Polish vs. British vs. American [38]

What on earth did you (and Torq) do to him?

I've read the whole thing and it was clear to me that you guys cornered him, pushed and pushed and he finally snapped. What did you think I was trying to explain?

I've realized that it's really difficult to say something just once for people here to understand it . So I was trying to lead you guys to the correct conclusions.

I think if dope gets it, we're on the right track now.

I was hoping that you guys would understand where Penn and I are coming from. I wanted to have nice logical conversation with you all to help us understand each other better but I failed miserably.

To be honest in order to survive here as a Polish person and not having to scrape the bottom of the barrel you need to learn how be vicious, cunning and competitive. I've met a lot of successful Polish-Americans over the years and most of them would share the same mentality. Polish hate us and Americans fear us, but why? I guess you can’t have your cake and eat it too.

Penn, don’t let them corner you, they get off on that.
Take care.

arogance, see?

This is what happens to Polish mentality when it collides with American reality and merge in to one. Very explosive mix. I can really easily associate with PennBoy. I used have the same perception; I had similar experiences and outlook at life.

Boso ale w ostrogach…

Seems wierd that you guys don't see it being Polish and all.

Life / Differences in Polish, American and British mentality [237]

Didn't see the context, but for those who mightn't realise, this was almost certainly a joke.

It just feels like this is something that a British person would say.

Here is my reasoning:

Polish person would say, sure, but your neighborhood sucked, and wszystkie dzieciaki mialy ciasne bereciki.

American would say, ok but who gives a crap?

Life / Differences in Polish, American and British mentality [237]

btw Havok, do you know any Poles in Houston? are there many of them?

I know a lot of people and some could be Polish. What I'm trying to say is that I don't really reach out and look for Polish living here.

Polish people tend be really paranoid, and it pisses me off, so I gave up.

Here is an example of Polish mentality:
Some lady: Looking to meet some Polish in a casual setting.
Me: We live near Houston, if you want we can meet at poloniarestaurant.com.
Take care.

Some lady: sure thing - tell me something about yourself.

I'm thinking: seriously? Do you interview everyone before you meet them at the bar? Somehow this kind of paranoia just turns me off. I'm sure it's perfectly normal to ask that question in Poland though.

In your opinion what are the most obvious differences between Polish, British and American mentalities? How do you spot Polish way of thinking? How can you tell when someone “reeks” of being British or American?

It seems very intriguing how noticeable this really is. Is it only me who thinks that?

Examples:

Polish-American: i nie jeden poszedł na studia.

British: Very good of you not to let the neighborhood down.

---

Polish person who travels: A co robił twój tatuś po przyjeździe do "Staniu"? Był taksówkarzem czy zbierał azbest?
American-Polish: *dziesięć głębokich wdechów.... zignorować debila...*

----

Polish: If you are Muslim an embarrassed you should convert to Christianity before coming to Poland.
American: Why would she be embarrassed?

----

Polish-American: The VD Baby Jesus clinic made my day though.
Polish: Why?
Polish-American: Oh nothing, my buddy owns a funeral home with the same name

---

Let me hear your input.

Thx.

UK, Ireland / UK: How to create a perfect scapegoat? [54]

I feel like I'm being torn apart by this inside.

Polish people living in the UK should organize and boycott the handout. Right... and that's going to happen..

Maybe some kind of campaign of PR would help. Well, Polish British of PF now is your chance to help by speaking out loudly and clearly against this. Not here, out there to your friends, coworkers at churches.

British government has made a very bad decision, this is going to have a ripple effect on how other nationalities in EU perceive us. Are we going to be those white trash soviet block beggars for the next decade or do we have some pride left in us to say NO!! Rise above it, say it: go shove that dole up yours, this is not a solution to a problem, give us jobs, I want to earn my money working, we're better than this.

Btw I know there are no jobs there, but in my opinion throwing money at the problem is not the solution. That's why the people in the Government get paid the big bucks to come up with acceptable solutions to a problem.

Do you want me to speak Polish instead? Would that fit better your profile of a Polish person? Hold on, let me take a picture of myself standing in line collecting my 250.
