Life / Getting ripped off in Poland! Is it normal? or should it be tolerated? [97]

I mean, if a shop runs out of bags, how on earth can an employee rectify that on the spot? I guess they probably receive a given no. of bags per day from somewhere?

Well if the shop had enough stock for any eventuality they could, same reason for having a float in the till with enough change, so the customer doesn't have to spend minutes counting out the exact change.

Travel / How safe is Krakow for a single girl ? [35]

I would really appreciate if you could enlighten me about it. And I am expecting genuine replies. Thank you

It's really unsafe. You have to watch your every step. Around the square sometimes there could be people!!!! The pigeons are famous for head butting single girls. At night the local mafia patrol the streets hunting for single women to throw them into their brothel houses!!! On trams they will use gas to intoxicate the single girls, they will then bag them (and not in the t-bagging way) and keep them stored in dumper buckets!!

USA, Canada / Moved back from Canada to Poland:). Here are the reasons why. [868]

Bloody marvelous weather! Soon the urban eye-candy will be at their best!

One of the things I loved about Poland was the Polish summers and walking by the river....Brilliant!!!

Weather in Scotland is stunning at the moment, a warm 18c and the mountains look great, wish I was up them today but alas I'm preparing to get ready for a 21st birthday party....I'm going to be one of the oldest there :/

I used to be able to have a drink more often. Now with the 3 kids and so much work I dont get the chance that much, but tonight is one of those nights when I can have a tipple!!! :)

Famous Grouse

That's what the homeless folk in Scotland drink :D
I always wondered why Bells or Famous grouse was sooooo expensive in Poland when its the cheapest whisky you can buy in Scotland. Though I can say I've never turned down a drink. ;)

People should be happy something like Buckfast hasn't managed to cross the water from the UK!!!

"uisce beatha"

Stop speaking Irish, it's obviously uisge beatha!!!!!!! hehehehe :)

Off-Topic / So...which of you are actually IN Poland? [41]

Luckily or not I managed to escape Poland just over a year ago after serving a 7 year sentence there. Miss it and can't wait to get back though :)

Law / The monopolisation of Polands precious food industry [15]

customers that with chickens come rats, it's unavoidable, and ruinously expensive.

Not quite. If you keep ur coop clean there will be no rats. Gran kept chickens, ducks, geese and a mad goat on the farm most of her life, not one rat did anyone come across. Though she did keep a bucket of eggs under the sink and nobody could quite tell how long the eggs had been in there. My uncles swear it was the cause of many instances of the squirts lol :D

there meat tastes like the familiar 'old army boot consistency' we've had in the UK for decades.

And often not produced in Poland. I used to teach private lessons to the owner of the "Real" chain of supermarkets. He told me that most of the time he has to import his meat products from Ukraine, Belarus ect because a lot of Polish meat is exported to Europe's western countries.

UK, Ireland / Poles in Ireland by Peadar de Burca. They "turned their backs on a country that gave them" [195]

Typical of the blinkered, lazy attitude towards Ireland by foreigners.

I'm not a foreigner you tw@t and i know exactly the situation over there. The amount of greedy credit grabbing folk "building" property to only have the rug pulled from under their feet. The country overstretched itself by a country mile and still continues to beg for money of the other EU countries.

You only have yourself to blame.

Irish men and women did n't spill there blood for Ireland's culture and identity to be taken from her before we have fully gotten back the entire island nation for ourselves.

When exactly were the Irish spilling their blood during the boom????
