History / Polish flag over the Reichstag first? [399]

Well...they managed to hold back with their "glorifying" for most of the time...I'm not used to reading such statements!

Not really, different historians different opinions, the point im making is they're politically based.

Wehrmacht was impressive but thats mostly from the western perspective, 44-45 Russians were sh*tting all over anything Germany had numbers or no numbers.

And of course it can't come from communists...we all know what pathological liars commies are!
How come you would rather believe commie propaganda in this regard???

I would neither, i'm interested in WW2 and can off the bat show you several operations where Russians outnumbered shat all over Wehrmacht.

Russians were better on the defence from the beginning, then when the incompetent officers died or got captured and there was no more room for sh*t and giggles they became superior, thats why they won.

A largely ignored fact is that by the end of 1941 Russians were outnumbered and fighting with nothing but their manly cocks yet they stopped Germans, the entire history is formed the way something like that.

Also a thing to consider.

Napoleon didnt win because he was awesome, he won because he was awesome and everyone else was incompetent, the same goes for Hitler, the only army that became competent in WW2 was the Red Army, everything else including Poland was a joke.

Your instinct sucks big time. Lower Silesia was a part of Germany and was populated mainly by the Germans.

Lower Silesia is not Silesia.

History / Polish flag over the Reichstag first? [399]

yet in the west it's never talked about only some bs that Poland was defeated in 2 weeks in September.

That would be because Poland performed far better then the Belgian, Dutch, French and British armies combined in that it actually won quite a few large battles in its campaign.

Western european historiography about WW2 amounts to a big fat lie, especially when concerning Poland.

Apropos...interesting link:
A judgement about who was best in WWII, from Russians no less! ;)

BB of course the Russians wont say "by the end of the war we had six milion badasses, so much equipment we didnt know what to do with it and all of it good, against us were old men and boys shitting their pants".

Gloryfying Germany as an opponent adds to russian sense of achievement, others try to diminish the russian effort by calling this "human wave" thingy.

Hard facts are Russians invented some of the tactics we all use today, by 1944 they were ahead of Germany in all aspects including the quality of first echelon troops.

German achievements are shown as sensationalist but the truth is a bit different, western armies sucked hard nuts in all departments and in the east there was the enviorment for protracted defence.

EDIT.

Just as i thought the article is an anti-communist one, now wonder we get "RUSSIANS R HUMAN WAVE FAGZ!!!!!1111"

History / Polish flag over the Reichstag first? [399]

Almost every battle on the Russian front was fought this way...

That however was not because russian commanders were dumb or clumsy as many would have it, they just had loads of men and didnt value their lives one bit.

More recent examples please!

Assault on Kabul when 300 tanks and more then 200 IFVs entered the city unsupported (today commanders are clumsy).

But I wouldn't call the GDR "soft core"...but that's only me...

Lack of comparison.

In the cities yes in the countryside people were very poor eating potatoes everyday, my mothers family comes from a village called Czarna Dabrowka Schwarz Damerkow.

That i'm sorry is another communist myth.

I dunno Honecker was a communist down to the core.

There's communists and communists.

Depends...you can't hold a candle to the german suffering during the 30 years war.
Also the Russians lost more people during the last century...I think...

Depends.

Russia in its mass was never a country that was civilised, interwar Poland was a country with flourishing culture, civilisation on par with any other european country and in many cases far more developed and then it was forced into communism.

Dont put DDR as an example, german communism was softcore in comparison to what was happening in Poland, we're moaning now because only now we're given a voice and we lost a LOT.

History / Lwów, Wilno ... kresy - Poland have lost enormoust part of our heritage... [389]

What university? Lviv has 10 universities. Anyhow, none of them was built by Poles.

Lwów has 1 university Nathan and it was founded by Poland and to be specific by our king John Casimir in 1661.

You can continue outright denial Nathan but together with Russians we've built a country that you live in today and make up some silly grand history to make your young nation feel better.

You can say whatever you want and dream of things, but the truth remains: Poles didn't do a thing in Lviv:)

Nathan our architects built every single bridge in Lwów, we built cobblestone streets that you use today, you can deny all you want but every single historical site in Lwów except for exactly six buildings have been built or commisioned by Poles.

Lwów is a city built by Poles:))

So Nathan tell me which bridges did Ukrainians built in Lwów? Why did it take Poles to build a university? Why were all the schools run by polish teachers?

History / Lwów, Wilno ... kresy - Poland have lost enormoust part of our heritage... [389]

Lviv train station was founded in 1861

By Poles and it was built in the interwar period not in 1861.

Lviv train station facade and main structure was built between 1899-1904

Again by Poles.

Lviv Opera House opened in 1900, built in Austria and brought over piece-wise.

Rubbish, it was built by Gorgolewski on site.

Lviv University of Ivan Franko was stipulated as one of the conditions of the Hadiach Treaty and was to be Ukrainian.

But was built by Poles.

Lviv from 1772 till 1918 was part of Austrian-Hungarian empire and during this period appeared this architecture. Poland as such haven't existed at that time.

However almost all projects were still undertaken by ethnic Poles and all mayors of Lwów at the time have been polish which shows that even under Austrian occupation Lwów remained polish:)

Latin Cathedral is still in Lviv and is one of my favorite anal structures. As you might notice it was never burnt by Ukrainians

It was never built by Ukrainians either, it was built by Poles.

Tell me Nathan how many bridges did Ukrainians built in Lwów :)))

So, what Portuguese engineers were doing with that knowledge?

Nothing, rockets werent exactly accurate at the time which is why Poland dropped them after about two decades of use as well.

ust kept it and never produced a rocket to fire waiting for Polish ambassador? ;)

Never produced a combat rocket, they did produce firecrackers for celebrations.

What year Polish used their first rocket, which was before the rest of Europe did?

At Orsza, i'd have to check out exactly but XV century.

If you mean Lviv, this is exactly what I said.

Ok Nathan who built Lwóws main railway station and town hall then? :)))) Your "ukrainian" city has a polish built town centre, polish built university, polish built college, polish built opera house, polish built main library, polish built catedral!

C'mon Nathan if its an ukrainian city why is everything in Lwów built by Poles?

Can you explain that macabre? ;) And also how Portuguese get to Poland with rockets?

They did not, Jakub Moroski (though i might have mixed up the name) the polish ambassador to Portugal brought with him portugese engineers who passed their knowledge to their polish counterparts in Kraków.

Can you explain that macabre? ;) And also how Portuguese get to Poland with rockets?

Yes i can, Mongols used chinese rockets (they did conquer quite a bit of China) from what we know they used a primivite firecracker like rocket that caused more noise than actuall harm.

oles didn't built Lviv. There is nothing to deny.

So you're saying we did not build 90% of Lwóws historical and utility sites?

History / Lwów, Wilno ... kresy - Poland have lost enormoust part of our heritage... [389]

So, to be the 1st to use rocketry is an achievement of Poles? ;)))

Not in the world of course, to be precise, the first use of rockets as an artillery weapon in Europe is a polish achievement.

The only time rockets were used as weapons in Europe prior to that was by the Mongols.

Any link? ;) You have a big mouth, I wonder why ;)

So Nathan you deny that Poles built the following in Lwów?

Entire downton, all bridges, all major hospitals, all major post offices, all train stations, the town hall, sewage system, 90% of all churches, 2/3rds of all cemetaries, the power grid that Ukraine was using untill recently?:)))

More than 2/3rds of all buildings in Lwów are polish built, more than 90% of all pre-1939 buildings are polish built, the remainder is generally Hapsburg.

Sadly , kids who behave like this often grow up to be violent serial killers....

Which is why i'm completely serious, both kids need to be killed, strap em to a bed in some nice clean hospital and inject with something lethal.

Personally i'm an animal person i treat 'em as our equals in many respects and i firmly believe this kind of behaviour should carry a death sentence.

The little sonuvabitch and his psychopath brother who was recording this are already in custody, all animals in the house have been taken away.

If it was up to me i'd kill the little f*cks, i dont care if the kids are 15 and 3 old i'd just like to get them in my hands so i can f*cking kill them both.

The kid needs another home too...

No, the animals need another home and they're gonna get it, the kids need to be put down, the parents too.

History / Lwów, Wilno ... kresy - Poland have lost enormoust part of our heritage... [389]

Yes really, Poland was the leading country in artillery technology during late Medieval - early Reneissance period, the first pan-european artillery handbook was written by polish officers for the polish army.

Can you read polish?

If you can, Konstanty Górski is your man, i'll actully upload it on Chomikuj for you if you're into the subject.

To expand on the subject, Poles used primitive rocket launchers (similar to those used later by the Brits during the napoleonic wars) in their wars with Russia and Wallachia in the XVIth century.

Then the european (Poland included) interest in rocketry waned in favour of artillery, the next to pick up rockets were the Brits in early 1800s, Poland got back to rockets in 1810 but rocket artillery wouldnt get rolling untill Germany and Russia revived it via their multiple launchers.

None the less the combat use by Europeans started with Poles.

I bet they have prisons used to exterminate "enemies of the state" in which were murdered millions of people like we do in Ukraine built by rocket-building Soviet Union.

Nathan the point is that Russians achieved something while Ukrainians did not.

Lets trace the history of rocketry, brought to Europe by Portugese, first used in combat by the Polish, perfected by Germans and then by Russians, where's Ukraine there?

The same with most achievements, we could place most countries in their chain of development but not Ukraine, Ukraine never built anything by itself so today all you're left with are attempts to hijack other peoples achievements.

Even the very cities you live in, Lwów built by Poles, Kijów built by Russians, where do you see large scale ukrainian urban projects?

Shevchenko? The freed peasant turned poet who had to learn how to write before he got to writing his rather odd little poems? Nope sorry he's not widely known.

On the other hand Mickiewicz is read in Russia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Poland, Belarus and is fairly widely known in US and France so no they're far faaar from equals:)))

My impression of Ukraine, of course based on virtually no experience, is that they value subsistence in that they provide for their own. They are like Polish farmers of long ago in that respect. Vodka shots in the morning and off to tend the fields :) Forgive my ignorance but I've never been there.

Try it, Ukraine is beatifull but dangeous, think Mexico of Europe, absolute lawlesness, extreme poverty but if you're in a larger group and keep your $ by you you'll be OK.

Maybe they don't place such a high value on such things, Sok.

Ever read an ukrainian history book? They hijack everything they can from anyone they can so obviouly they do, Nathan himself went as far as to edit wikipedia to fit his version of events, ukrainians are obsessed with them being the underachiever of Europe.

I also don't know any high-profile Ukrainians in scientific circles but maybe they would put more on the table were they to be drafted into the EU (to a lesser extent, NATO).

There's none, before 1945 there was no ukrainian science or culture at all and after 1945 they've not been the busiest of beavers on those fields.

Incidentally the only XX century ukrainian with any brains, Petlura got completely ignored by his countrymen, this is the direct reason why they're the total nobody of Europe today.

heir culture is as it is and we can describe it as different.

No literature, no sciences, no art, yeah you could call it different.

maybe their lack of resources has played a part in that.

The only resource Scotland has is skirts yet it managed to get quite a few achievements in all fields including military, why Ukraine did not?

Shevchenko and Ivan Franko are every bit as famous as Mickiewicz, for instance.

Thats some sort of a joke right?

you how the Ukrainians were...em..'encouraged' not to develop

So were Poles, Poland was hindered in its development yet the responce was guess what? Even more rapid development! Why didnt Ukraine perform as well?

No Sean, we both know you'd have to research them hard and long, the kind of famous postcards of national heritage that we're looking at here are people like Borgia, Galileo, Barbarossa, Kopernik, John Paul II, Napoleon, Daguerre etc.

People who either achieve european wide fame or hugely contributed to worldwide development, Ukraine has none, its sciences are a crawling newborn, its culture was dead when Poland took over 600 years ago and never got up.

You're an anti polish retard mate luckily being an idiot that you're you're easy to rebuke, no country in Europe has produced a noteworthy scientist or an author since 1990, it takes generations for such people to gain fame.

Then again Poland had quite a few world famous people in the last 50 years too, John Paul II, Wałęsa... What famous people did Ukraine have in the past 500 years? Lets be generous what famous people did Ukraine have in the past 1000 years?

There's two famous ukrainians, one was a writer who considered himself a Russian and the other was a military commander who was in all probability an ethnic Pole, thats some heritage that Ukraine has eh?

Did i mention that both ukrainians achieved only regional fame? One being a russian writer is known in Russia, the other being the only ukrainian in history to win against Poland (out of a lot who tried) is known in Poland, none of them are world famous.

Ukraine is a cultural and scientific nothing.

It took Poles and Russians to build cities, harsh truth is without the so called polish "occupation" Ukraine would still be a rural region without any civilisation.

When I mentioned Ukrainian scientists and discoverers you even didn't grant me your reply which would have been necessary after ruthless claims of yours.

The problem is that the people you mentioned are either people who stole, fabricated their finds, their finds are of little international importance and no one knows these people outside of Ukraine.

One guy you mentioned actually made up an immortality potion to get money from Stalin and you used him as an example of ukrainian scientific achievements!

You do see how pathetic you look dont you?

History / Lwów, Wilno ... kresy - Poland have lost enormoust part of our heritage... [389]

I think there was evidence of his early writings having been in Polish.

Inconclusive, the problem with the discussion is that at the time the official administrative language of Poland was Latin.

This would have been encouraged as he was born into Torun just 7 years after the transition from Thorn.

Most Poles wrote in Latin, Latin was the administrative and legal language, Polish was at the time English of central and eastern Europe aka a business language so most documents in it were not considered worthy of writing down.

Ach, they have to take the bad with the good, They don't seem to be able to do that.

None of us are really, they can hijack whatever the heck they want, my only bone with them is that they mistreat Poles.
