History / Pole who burned himself to protest the 1968 Soviet invasion [81]

Therefore what was considered normal practise in the past, cannot be considered the same nowadays. Parts of the world will evolve at their own rate. Just because we have one way of thinking, we cannot expect everywhere else to believe the same. If you believed everything the daily rat printed the UK would be a **** hole with everyone killing each other...

But we live in the 21 century Dave and the vast majority of the world have set the bar..so Im sorry to say those that do not meet the levels set by the majority are falling short..

Is that what u think it is? Cos I dont think with the amount of chavs (neds), disregard for the elderly, high taxes, and the fact that if someone is murdered it wont even make the news is hardly what we should call civilisation.

Tax has nothing do with it, Im talking about the basic human rights that are not observed in certain countries.I have no idea what you are talking about.

It depends what you mean by "civlised world".

Semantics..one can say Saudi is civilized because they have indoor plumbing in the majority of housing, but they still stone women to death and are looking in to sever a man spine in an "eye for an eye" ciminal case...do you consider that "civilized"...civilisation is an evolving thing...its not something that can be quantified...

So again with all due respect, Im going to disregard your link because all it did was to explain what "civilization" is...You omitted to mention that it evolves and omitted to say that some countries are still developing.

Dave, Desparation that leads to these acts is a thing you and I have no idea about..so we cant comment

The world often don't care much about what's going on in countries where there's some kind of regime. Usually something shocking must happen to draw attention, like in the case of that Vietnamese monk.
So, no, I disagree - it isn't about "civilised society".

I think my comment covered that..Im aware that this happens, but the OP was talking about Europe..not the "rest of the world"

I have to argue a point about the "civlised world" one has rights in the civilsed world and therefore a person doesnt need to set fire to ones self in the "civilised world" to gain rights that one has in the "civilised world", so your failure to agree with my point confuses me - can you explain? Id love to know where you are coming from.

Of course, you know better and I and everyone else is a liar..okay you win..I made it all up..damn..It must be so cool to walk in such enlightened shoes and know what everyone else paid for their goods...I dont recall telling you where I shopped or what city I shopped in..back in ya box idot!

Yes indeed but still people in europe do.

With all due respect, Im an avid reader of the news and not in the last 20 years has any English, Welsh or Scottish person set fire to themsevles in prostest..so..I strongly disagree with you..we do not set fire to ourselves..Its not something Europeans do..

Surely, only uncivilised and uneducated barbarians like Poles, Indians and Vietnamese burn themselves to death in protest:

I wasnt suggesting that all that did this were uncivilised..I was however saying in a civilised society it isnt necessary..agian..I will say..Im sure you would agree with this?

(in the cost sense, I mean).

Ive only holiday'd Poland but 2 out the 3 times Ive stayed in an apartment and in comparable terms..buying ham off a deli counter not pre-packed sweaty stuff)..its almost the same as the UK..purchased bread and other basics..butter ect and (I dont want to go out for breakfast its a peaceful time of the day) so got a taste of how expensive life is in comparison to earnings...I was there when the zl was a good rate too in summer 2006.

"[His death] was a symbol, it was an offering for freedom."

No it wasnt..there are ways in a civilised world of achieving things...Indian girls in villages married off to abusive men resort to this..not grown educated men in Europe...Surely you have to agree with me?

What made me laugh about this thread is one of my most respected posters agreed to a greater degree with the OPs opinions yet my least respected poster thought it was joke..one is Polish is the other is an immigrant to Poland...I Know whose opinion I trust (the former lived in England for some years so has an alternative perspective)..

Cudos the the OP for being so articulate and level headed in his approach to writing..I enjoyed reading this and I hope he returns to respond to counter some of the less inteligent responses.

I think I might have a thing for belly dancers.

Are Turkish not Indian.

we are known to be hot blooded, spicy and down to earth people,

By whom? You have been in England for a few decades and hot blooded isnt a description used..neither is down to earth...however..insular, inbred and dishonest are.

does that make me any better than anyone else?..hardly!!

You are the lowest of the low..so it doesnt even make you better than a slug.

Indian gets widepsread.International business.

Yep and the world gets substandard service.

Love / Advice Please! Meeting my Polish boyfriend's parents!! Gifts, customs... [105]

Is it me or does anyone else find it strange that someone would come to a forum before meeting the future in-laws to ask questions from a bunch of randoms?

And before anyone jumps on me, I dated someone Hungarian for over a year and never once frequented a Hungarian forum...I dont feel the need to share my life with the world and his wife! If I wanted to know something about Hungarian langauge or culture I asked him.

UK, Ireland / Why English do not like Polish? [417]

For someone who can't read properly there is certainly written:

I was making fun of you..but I can imagine your painfully stern face now..not actually getting it...Which has amused me immensely..

I just thought that your utterly boorish

Have you been reading Jane Austin?

You may think of yourself as the only challenger to JustysiaS's throne as the queen of PF put-downs,

She wishes...Jysty is No.1

saint England!

And you should bow when you utter this word! Biatch!

Indeed you got used to it, you've been stuck in this island for over 1000 years.

Not personally...

The difference between Poles and brits are that poles comes where the money is while the brits emigrate from their country cuz it sucks.

Not really, ever heard about career enhancement? My cousin was offered a resarch post at a hospital in NY but turned it down because her husband couldnt get a job that he liked over there (he's a cardiologist)..She's a consultant now though in the UK, all's well that ends well aye :D

Ah yah i forgot your second national dish chicken tikka masala WOHOOOOO!!!

Im not going to get in to insults about food, neither England or Poland are on the map for this...so wont argue with you..if your knowledge about English food is so limited.

Yea srry i forgot to mention that 50% of your population are GINGERRRRRS!!!!!

Some are even teak..or strawberry blond.

Confident? Haha i dont think so. NOBODY likes brits!!!!

Am a bovered?? They like our Island thats why they flock here :D They love the money we spend whilst in their resorts and cities...

Why do you have to start to be personal? Ain't personal attacks illegal on this forum?

I knew I liked your for a reason, you're the not so bright kid that people take pitty on..

Yeah sure, Amathyst... you're the best example of english politeness ;D

And you are the worst example of Polish stupidness.

Each to their own, I think she's fine! :D

Only fine! Im hurt ;0)

do you read dailymail.co.uk? Whenever someone post anti-polish comment it reaches 500 pluses... Its normal that ppl post such things not only in Poland.

News flash for you sweety, there were about 10 Polish names on the outlook email address list when I worked there...seems like your "own" dont mind working for them!

Britain is clearly still shaking off their Victorian yoke :)

Nah, we got rid of the outside toilets and the dodgy long frocks...

Oh really? And just how many people in America do you think have English ancestors? Hmm? (You guys probably speak English for a reason, but hey, it could be me who just doesn't get it!)

The Irish and Scots went there too..

13.0% of the total U.S. population does have British ancestry.

In total 39,975,969 (2008)

Its too far back to even matter, they're American..not English..We stopped going there in any great numbers after the last shipped docked with those over zelot religious types...

Germany due to the fact that germans never been mingling with the brits.

We have an old Anglo Saxon name in our family which is a German word...The Germans stayed here for a long time..hence our language as it is today..

why do you constantly attack others? You can't bear any critisism, can you?

Because I dont like it when people single "English" guys out when there are others that are doing exactly the same - does that answer your question?

I tell you something - the thing you do here is anything close to be patriotic.

Could you write that in English please?

UK, Ireland / why do you shout and throw (question for english people) [30]

indeed
i think it's best option for all polish people in the u.k.

Not at all, just those that write 2 posts complaining after they just joined a forum.

so immature, i'm sure you'd love to swap places with those people and get soaked on your way to work

We didnt target anyone over the age of 12 :D calm down!

are you sure you don't do anything to provoke those repeated attacks?

Maybe he's sitting near a council rubbish dump?

mietek emigrant

Are you a troll?

plastic bottle or cup of water

We once went out with a supersoaker gun in summer and fired at people from the car..I thought it was funny...not sure the passers by did :D I just thought I was doing them a service..it was a hot day and I was cooling them down...

i'm asking due to i heard a lot about politeness and good manners of english people but reality seems to look bit different.

We're heathens..we're prone to bouts of madness! You should go back to Poland and enjoy a quiet life...sounds like your best option!

So the English hate the Poles because they've got no reason to be xenophobes any more.

Yawn..

You're a cock you're a cock you're a cock!

Thats all I have to say on the matter - to you!

hiya
just a quick question i though i ask here on forum as it seems like lots of englsh people posting. so-why english people doesn't like polish - especially polish emigrants in uk. kinda weird as i didn't observe this with reference to other immigrants in uk, i'd rather prefer to avoid word hate but maybe it should be used here;

Most Brits strangely enough dont actually spend half of their day pondering on how much they dislike Poles, I'd go as far as to say, they dont think about Poles at all..

bit like with Brits abroad: they even manage to hate the native ppl of the country they're visiting :) Experienced that a few times when I lived in Amsterdam.

A few times doesnt mean all.

Believe it or not, some of us are actually quite cultured and respectful over here.

Here here!! :D

Am, Glasgow is the curry centre of Europe. Check it up. Aberdeen is awash with places too :) :) Check also the stats on the percentages per capita.

Okay you win, you have more..there are still too many of these rotten hovels in my city.

Polish girls can't handle the spice like us Scots can.

They've not had it on every street corner like we have for years thats why...I prefer Spanish, Italian and Greek food, its healthier and tastes better.

yet, your country folks were swarming to those so called 3rd world countires for centuries for a better life.

No, we went to plunder and to make money...they (British men)were allowed and even encourage (the East India Company wanted to ensure the men stayed in India and the way to do that, was marry local women) to mix with the locals and then that stopped in the mid 19th century - didnt seem proper to mix with those that were inferior. I dont see us "swarming" there these days do you?

Learn some history. btw, it is not very difficult.

It would appear I know more than you, maybe you should brush up on your history.

british women are attracted to anywhere or anything that moves or crawls provided a little toke and stella :) lol

Possibly, as long as its not from a 3rd world country and smells like soap and water rather than curry and sweat.

Curry is bigger in Scotland than in England.

Are you sure? We have the curry mile in Manchester, yes sheep a full mile of asian restaurants, although most are pakis or bangladeshis that run them, not that i'd eat at any of them, most are rat infested and are closed on a regular basis by the environmental department at the council.

I don't think that many British women are attracted to Indians

No, we're not.

You really don't have the guts to say this to Amathyst face. You should be happy if you get banned again before her response.

:D He should be glad I didnt mention that we also enjoyed burning villages and starving Indians to death in our days in India...whoops..I just did! Oh well...Im sure they enjoyed slaughtering European women and children too...which they did in great numbers..Im sure this is a part of history they dont teach in their schools.

like the british girls minus the arrogance

I think what you meant is that you couldnt get a British woman to date you, which isn't any wonder, we're not exactly attracted to 3rd world immigrants - this isnt arrogance, its a fact.

i had hard times, womenised polish girls for sometime to feel the revenge and then now back to normal

In your dreams - you mean you mythered 100s of them in bars and clubs.

When I see a girl I am usually not attracted by their industrial success.

LOL..I think that could be said for everyone..attraction is an instant thing..getting to know someone takes time.
