Love / Are Polish Women cold and aloof? [249]

Well, I haven't had any experience of Greek women yet and variety is the spice of life ;) ;) (note the wink marks)

Constant stimulation doesn't cure the underlying malaise that life appears to be boring for them and made complicated by unhelpful old people who won't easily give them what they need. Also, salaries are disproportionate here and materialism knows no boundaries.

In that they can be difficult to deal with, strange moods. You think they are happy and then they flip. There aren't that many hotties at all, southern. Very few! Some of the girls in their late teens are cute but that's about it.

Quite a few are creepy, self-centered and don't talk, that's true enough. Still, you have to take people as you find them.

KP, quit the crap! It tends to be middle-aged punters that enjoy disco polo and at weddings. If that's what you like, all power to you.

Many are off their chumps and addicted to pain relief tablets ;) They eat them like candy. I've seen some horribly callous decisions in relationships. BORING, fussing over everything and sniping are standard traits amongst quite a few.

Food / Polish Eating Habits [87]

Too early? I wouldn't say so. Some start work at 7, some at 8 so they work round that accordingly.

They tend to have more in-between food. They tend to eat lunch at around 3pm or when they return from work.

News / New cross war in Warsaw [530]

Exactly! They haven't read what came before. 7 pages on this topic? Let people hang their crosses in their homes and not pay so much attention to issues such as a cross in public.

True enough :) Beef rolls with 'modro' cabbage and dumplings :) Those yeasty rolls (buchty) are great with fruits of the forest yoghurt. Silesian sour rye soup (żurek) is the best, IMHO. Much better than the way those from Warsaw do it. It is more sour here and with egg :)

Woj, I agree with Lyzko here. I'll give you some examples of why. Today, I had what I typically have at the dinner table. Szałot (Silesian potato salad) started things off and there is plenty mayo mixed in for taste. Then there was the cold cuts platter. Bread (calorific) with butter and meat on the top. After that, the sausages were brought out and they were dripping with fat. Not to mention the cakes that are full of sugar. Hardly healthy.

I tend to eat a 'Russian' meal in tomato slices (peeled skins) with chopped up onions. It is easy to digest and low in fat. Too many Polish meals are calorific. I'm 102kgs and I can tell you that the majority of guests present were bigger in the sense of being disproportionate. I see many Poles getting bigger and bigger.

Life / What are the things which cause culture shock in Poland? [164]

Oh yeah, but they need to be shuffled around. Heaven knows what for ;)

Allowing gay pride marches, that was a shock here. I can imagine the mohair berety being renegades and gunning them down ;)

Not really, no. You hop on, state your destination, the bus driver calculates it and you agree on the fare. It's quite a swift operation for those that don't dither. People usually know their fare, state their destination and pop their money in. Many Poles are in too much of a hurry and you can lose money that way. Best to let the driver check as it only takes a moment. To hurry things and pretend you are important is only egomaniacal. Jesus didn't teach that anywhere I saw ;)

Why the constant reference to ethnicity, southern?

Other aspects of culture shock? Getting bus tickets in kiosks. In Britain, you buy them on the buses themselves and this ensures that they are checked as you pay into a slot, then get a ticket after talking with the bus driver. So many here don't have their tickets checked as it costs to hire conductors.

Deflection again :) He was discussing the Polish side of it, Zeti.

Very true and we agreed on that. A foreigner's view is not to be countenanced most of the time.

If beauty was on the inside, many Polish guys have some work to do :)
