I agree - it's a good newspaper.

There really isn't any connection between the pro-democracy protestors and the Italian Operation Gladio or any of the other European Stay Behind operations. They had no connection at all to Poland.

Sort of agreed. I'd rephrase it. "More important things to try to get on with" is how. Right now, you can bet your botto, dollar that the pro-democracy campaign is exercising most of their time and resources, and in what's left of their time, they are trying to unoick the various other messes they've made in such a short time.

But you can bet your bottom złoty that they'll be looking right now for some populist measure, maybe involving the Curia - assuming the Curia are willing to go along with it.

Regarding the pro-democracy demonstrations, that is happening already. And nobody, even their former supporters actually believes it.

One thing surprised me about the people I know who were taking part today. Most of them are staunch conservatives and people who would never normally think about attending a political rally.

This thing is really snowballing.

Trolling is all the usual suspects can do in the absence of first hand knowledge and credibility; that and them being very much on the wrong side of a mass movement for democracy in Poland.

Most of the thousands who are taking part are just ordinary people - and very much people who feel we all lose if the constitution, the rule of law and the basics of justice are eroded by clowns.

So funny to see the usual suspects (none of them actually in Poland) flap in panic when those of us here see the mass demonstrations.

Amazingly lame excuses, not one of them credible.

One more serious mistake by the failing PiS regime (and there have been many in a short time) is likely to bring even more people out than the tens of thousands who came out in support of democracy today.

And at that point, people will start talking about elections.

I suppose that Goebbels guy you keep mentioning could always ask zimny Lech (perhaps gorący Lech would suit better) who is probably somewhere very close to him; both of them, along with Jaro and Macierewicz masters of dirty tricks.

So far we've had a fake death threat, a bomb scare and hacking - what next, burning the Sejm down and blaming it on their pro-democracy opposition?

But you are right about one thing - the PiS dirty tricks that keep misfiring are so blatant and see-through that they are very much to the benefit of the Polish pro-democracy opposition.

Basically the "PRL route" is all that's open to them - that or limping along in the face of pro-democracy rallies by so many different parts of Polish society until they can no longer avoid early elections.

Of course they rather go the Orban route however they lack the key thing that Orban has - popular support...

PiS, Po3, are too busy entering NATO offices in the middle of the night and organising spurious bomb-scares to deter pro-democracy protesters to do much else.

But at least they're on their way out after a very short time - just a shame they'll doubtless try to hang on for as long as they can; dignity and common sense being alien to them.

More dirty tricks - they really will stop at nothing and making bomb scares (as well as closing off ul. Wiejska with a crane) just doesn't help Kaczynski's cause one little bit.

Still, the number who turned out at the start was good and s big contrast to the one-man 'counter-demonstration'.

Meanwhile the pro-democracy rallies continue. What surprised me is the number of people here today who would never normally come out on the streets to protest against anything. Doctors, lawyers, teachers, scientists, retired people - all normally conservative in outlook and all united in a common cause

And all you can do is rant about Stalin. To use your own term, "pathetic"
