News / Demonstrations in Poland in defence of democracy. [2554]

But no-one can miss

You seem to think (or pretend) that the markets and the business environment is as easily led as hysterical PiS supporters.

Although markets do take fright easily, that fright is based on hard figures, concrete data and intelligent analysis. Hence the instability caused by the National Socialist PiS regime causing the economy to tank.

Are you so swayed by the media? Probably, though having sometimes worked on the fringes of it, you should know how it works.

Don't be silly Nocy, this thread doesn't have much of a topic (and if you'd bothered to look, you'd have seen that it's in the off-topic section), isn't in any way about oecumenical relations and in any case you should think very carefully about the way you show yourself up whenever you post.

Cobblers, Po. The markets aren't swayed by an editorial in a non-English language newspaper, nor was there much coverage of the PiS attacks on the constitution and on the country. Their declared policies were enough to deter major investors and the memories of the damage caused during their brief period in office a decade ago did the rest.

A very weak response - normal for a PiS supporter.

But as usual, you'll have to try a bit harder; the markets lost confidence in the unconstitutional National Socialist PiS regime before the ordinary people even thought of coming out to make the Polish pro-democracy rallies.

If PiS don't like it, they just have to obey the law. It's not difficult.

Remember these are people who have no shame in arguing that black is white and white is black; that and their permanent atmosphere of hysteria.

Without any regard for the effect this has on the country.

The aura of instability has been projected to the outside world by KOD'

I doubt market analysts or institutional investors have heard of it. The facts speak for themselves, and there is no doubt whatsoever that the PiS National Socialist regime have created nothing but instability.

News / World's 'most wanted man' (a Pole) found working at British Subway restaurant [43]

than a fear of being labelled as "konfindent" could've stopped them from reporting it to the police.

Basically yes. People in general don't grass up colleagues, certainly don't run their names by Interpol and Poles don't tend to dob in their own unless there's an immediate cash reward or some other personal advantage.

Looks like the extradition has gone through:

A judge at Westminster magistrates' court today ruled that Kupiec, 28, should be extradited to Poland.
He had been named as a suspect on Interpol's wanted list and a warrant issued for him on charges of allegedly causing death by manslaughter or murder, assault or maltreatment, and theft.

If convicted of the offences in his home country, he could face nearly 40 years in prison, a judge heard

they fight for justice, for the poor and disadvantaged and they are most charitable

About the group of people about whom you know next to nothing but are still pathetically maligning, this is actually very true.

And the effects are only just starting. Over time, the damage will accumulate and PiS simply won't be able to fufil their promises.

It's visibly happening already. Businesses do need stability; they need to know that the business plan they have today will work tomorrow. Of course it's always jobs that go first. And yes, nobody here thinks PiS will be able to fulfil their election promises, especially as the instability they've caused in the business environment has spooked the markets seriously.

Hence the people attending the Polish pro-democracy rallies; normal people fearful for their jobs and for their children's jobs.

News / Poland's democracy defenders in Brussels turned out to be EU employees. [62]

thetoric

Whatever 'thetoric' is, you still can't do anything more than rant about people being "herded" despite no evidence of that and all evidence to the contrary.

many spies found excellent cover as teachers

Must be why Kuklinski carried a cane and mortarboard...

Seriously, many more are/were journalists.

Though hard to believe one claiming all the people at a Polish pro-democracy rally were "EU employees".

The effect on the markets

The effect on the markets costs people their jobs, reduces the value of people's investments, reduces the worth of the bonds that they're desperately tying to flog (and which some people hold already) and deters investment in Poland.

Not that PiS have ever though anything through in their entire existence. They simply don't care.

Hence the Polish pro-democracy movement.

They've written their stories (again) about how the government is behaving, and this in turn causes pressure on the government

Exactly. The effect on the markets from this is significant and the confidence of the business community in the Polish government's ability to run the country is at a low.

News / Demonstrations in Poland in defence of democracy. [2554]

I know several people who are very clear that if KOD gets behind any one party, then they will no longer have anything to do with it.

That's one of the strengths of the Polish pro-democracy movement; it isn't dominated by any political tendency and is a genuine grassroots reaction to the current attacks on democracy and the constitution.

Is it because your own nomeklatura origins are shameful?

There maybe should be shame, if someone's a kind of nationalist, but yes, his origins are nomenklatura, immensely privileged at the expense of others.

That's by the by though. The future is more important than the past, and Poland has a long and rich history of surviving such exploiters.

even get more than around 10k on the street for their yearly march, and that was despite getting people to come from places like Cieszyn

The hilarious thing is when they tried to bus people in from the boondocks and they all went to the shopping malls instead!

News / Poland's democracy defenders in Brussels turned out to be EU employees. [62]

It's open season for them really - they know fine well that Duda will pardon any PiS member before they get near the courts, so they've got 4 years to commit as much fraud and corruption as they want

I've a suspicion that immunity will be lifted and pardons reversed - eventually.

And if they start trying fraud with EU funds, they may find they've bitten off more than they can chew, despite silly allegations about pro-democracy protesters all being "EU employees" or not...

Everyone knows they won't get promoted to top jobs without being friends with PiS, so they're simply going to do the bare minimum and not a thing more.

Just like the old days. A passive aggressive regime producing a passive aggressive response among bureaucrats. So basically stasis ensues.

Your agenda is very obvious Polonius - just like you did back before 1989, you're trying to discredit the opposition to the government by linking them to things that are simply made up

This time it seems he's doing it for free. Probably. PiS have certainly been caught using paid online trolls.

Amazing the hostility from some people online to the Polish pro-democracy movement. A hostility that doesn't exist in reality.

Life / Is Poland a poor country? [578]

Drinking Vodka is a symptom not a cause of poverty

Yes, a kind of desperation; get drunk quickly and cheaply. One reason that more affluent people in Poland a increasingly drinking something better.

This is why the EU is spending a trillion zloty on infrastructure

And the benefits from that are slowly starting to appear. Though it will take a lot of time for life in one-horse towns with poor road links and comically bad rail links to really change.

Rather than appoint the three judges who were constitutionally chosen and then chosing two more of their own the ruling party took the ridiculous bait and got involved in an ugly wrangle that no good will come from

Hence the pro-democracy rallies. When the first act of a new and unpopular regime is to subvert the constitution, people realised very quickly that things can only get worse.

Off-Topic / Polish and Russian Christians! Lest's unite today! [41]

It's certainly a myth that they run the world or even want to. Or have any sort of common political goal. And membership (so I gather) tends to reflect the broad spectrum in society, albeit a bit middle class and over 35.

Interestingly though, in Poland there's a higher proportion of women members, especially well-educated younger women, than in most places.

There was an excellent exhibition with talks and lectures at the Muzeum Narodowy in Warsaw last year.

in charge of everything

in large proportion made up of Jewish member

Also completely untrue.

News / PiS to impose blanket retail tax in Poland [291]

It's all a masterly piece of PISed-up economics.

I think we will see a lot of this as the business environment is further ruined by the PiSites. The real victims are the low-paid.
