News / Poland Parliament elections in October 2011 [944]

It shows how terrible dilemmas haunt Ziobro and his henchmen in PiS. They are hungry for power but perfectly realise that with the Saviour at the helm, they have no chance, ever.

At the same time they realise that without their charismatic leader, PiS led by Ziobro and others is gonna win only half the votes they usually get, i.e., about 15%.

I suppose Ziobro is thinking of taking the post of the chairman, keeping the Saviour as the honorary leader.

What does he count for? That the Saviour will voluntarily relinquish his grip on PiS and stand back, to let Ziobro be No 1?

what are you going to do if Poland ends up like Greece in near future tell me - and what is that can be done to avoid it here and now?

Let`s wait and see what happens. If PO flunks the job, I will admit solemnly that you were right.

If not, you will bark off your words like a lousy flea ridden dog under the table. OK?

PO is based on lies, manipulations, scaremongering and feeding an inferiority complex in the Polish nation,

Funny that I think the same about PiS!! :):):):)

but to be honest I would be wary of the lowering of the budget expenses - with the decrease in the value of our currency the cost of Polish foreign debt rose dramatically -

That is why we have to do everything to cut down the deficit. I accept the fact that sacrifices are necessary.

Any idea when Kaczynski comes up for re-election as prezes?

Nope. I think that according to the PiS statute, he`s THE life chairman.

Wow! Cracks in the monolith PiS party are getting wider and wider. I already mentioned Cymański who critizised dictatorial methods of the Saviour.
Today, Zbigniew Ziobro, the closest ally of the Saviour, suggested a change of party`s leadership in some unspecified future. He also mentioned the possibility of two parties stemming from current PiS: pragmatic centre and national, which would be able to win the majority of votes and form a coalition after next elections.

Phew! Are you that influenced by Gazeta Polska black propaganda? :):):)

Read about lower spendings and higher profit at the end of 2011:

half of that EU funds ?

Does it matter? Fact is a fact! Or isnt`?

Seems to me that anybody would do better than Tusk!

Phew? Are you that naive? ?

BTw, answer one question: why did most people with higher education vote PO? While primary and vocational education voted PiS? Do you think it bears any significance or not? :):

If the election took part only persons with primary and vocational education , the clear winner would be the PiS - according to a poll exit poll for TVN24 TNS .

Among those with primary education Jaroslaw Kaczynski's party was unrivaled. She won up 46.9 percent . votes. Second PO had the support of 22.8 per cent level . , The third PSL 10.6 percent . , Fourth Palikot's Movement 8.8 percent . , And the fifth SLD 6.7 percent .

Whats up pawian? Are you Lost for words and ideas ?:)

Nope. I counted on your intelligence and your knowledge of Polish culture/history/literature. Was I mistaken? :):):):)

News / Poland Parliament elections in October 2011 [944]

After each elections, some renown PiS politicians critisize the Saviour and usually get thrown out of the party. It happened to Ludwik Dorn in 2007,

From October 31, 2005 to February 7, 2007 he was Minister of Interior and Administration, resigned after conflict with the Prime Minister Jarosław Kaczyński.

and it will probably be Tadeusz Cymański`s fate, too.

Cymański gave an interview to Wprost magazine in which he said:

PiS` election result is a painful failure.
PiS loses support because of authoritiarian leadership and lack of self criticisim.
Brown nosing in PiS structures reached the sky. The Saviour doesn`t need to engage in PiS inner conflicts, he has his stooges for that.

Claiming that 2 years of PiS rule in 2005-2007 was a success is a serious exaggeration.

The Saviour hasn`t commented on it yet but his stooges are furious.

Po polsku / Co sądzicie o Polakami noszą koszulki z logami w języku Polskim? [26]

=Polonius3] a znacznie mniej w romańskich.

Did you forget about the Green Island? Did you forget the economic growth last and this year? (4%).

Do you know that the budget deficit for the last quarters of this year is significantly lower than planned?

Do you really think that PiS would do much better?

Do you really think that you still know so much about Poland after you have lived in US for so many years?

PS. I have just found a set of ten mini flims in a forgotten drawer. Holy cow!

PS. I have just found a set of ten mini flims in a forgotten drawer. Holy cow!

Ooops, emptying the forgotten drawer at Midnight:45 caused a little noise.
My wife asked: Do you drink too much or too little?

But it was worth it - I found 10 mini films.

=boletus]Slide projector?

Hail to you, genius! :):): Yes, out of pure sentiment, I purchased an ancient slide film projector. Many sweet memories from my childhood are connected with our "home video" sessions back in those 1970s.

I didn`t know they made hundreds of films, while we had only a dozen or two.

Typical of all Polish presidents. As a matter of fact, they haven`t had to do much. :):):)

They needs to give him something to do.

They can infect him with scabies. :):):):)

Life / Need the name of a Polish comedy series and Poland movie recommendations [22]

There is a film where hero must learn english to win girl. He buys a "learn in your sleep" from some Russian shop, but when he awakens, he speaks Hungarian, not English. I can't remember the name, but I wanted to give it to a friend as a gift.

Polish comedies are better than this.

Watch Sex Mission from 1983. Hilarious.

History / Why have Poles contributed so little to Academics? (Particularly Science) [180]

=AlexTheGreat]This importance of education partly comes from religious philosophy. Judaism is a very open minded religion unlike Christianity where all the priest can say is, "Don't do that or you'll go to hell!". Jews have made it clear that religion should never get in the way of science.

Harry, very interesting explanation.

In the light of what he said about Smolensk previously, how would you classify these comments, are they the comments of a sane person.

He is sane. But he is blinded by his hatred to/for everybody who doesn`t agree with Him, the Saviour of Motherland. It overwhelms him completely, he is unable to control it, that is why he behaves like a looney.

The latest poll:

Trust:
Komorowski: 74%
Tusk - 55%
Kaczyński - 30%

Distrust:
Kaczyński: 54%
Tusk - 29%

Language / Help me figure out the spelling of these Polish names? [17]

Exactly. This is Russian, as I said before.
Bozhe" (Боже) is the way in old Russian language god was called. In contemporary Russian it's "бог" [bog].
But in some idioms it's still used old-style way, because this word combination is very old
"Moi" (мой) - my for male, singular
So, it equals to English Oh, my God!, but literally it would be more correct to say
О, боже мой! (which is also in use, but not that often, as just боже мой version).

70% would like the cross to stay in the Sejm.
20% want to remove it.

Most Poles rejects the idea of Janusz Palikot to remove the cross from the meeting room of the Sejm - TNS survey shows the "Gazeta "

Removal of the cross from the parliamentary meeting room is one of the first demands of Janusz Palikot after entering the parliament , which is transformed into a political war. Yesterday Ms Wanda Nowicka Palikot Movement after acute exchange of views on this issue with John ...

Good results. The bad news is that every decade the opponents` number rises by 10%. In 50 years` time it will be 60% against and 20% for the cross.

=hague1cmaeron]I can only question his mental stability. Judge for yourself:

He admits that football fans support and Merkel scandal were mistakes. Quite sincere declaration!

Wasn`t it obvious from the beginning? Those controvercies continued for months (football) or days (Merkel). Despite wide critisism from various directions, the Saviour did nothing about them, quite the opposite, he even provoked bigger ferment. Now he regrets.

Hague, his mental stability is, indeed, questionable.

it is true what sb said about him: Kaczyński is the greatest enemy of PiS and himself.

=Ironside]When the current system in Poland backfire and crumble, people would vote PiS as there is no alternative for said party on the political scene.

No, they won`t. If the current system ever crumbles down (highly improbable but let`s play this prediction game), people won`t vote PiS which is considered a major system and establishment party. It doesn`t matter they have been the opposition for a few years- after all, they held power in the past and are smeared with the fact for ever.
