News / EU confirms it will take action against Poland over court reforms [554]

Yes, his name was Herbert Sulzbach OBE.

Thank you! :)

I read up about him...interesting guy....he was a jewish refugee in England but got there detained as "hostile alien" in a camp at "Isle of man" first befor joining the british Army.

But it seems the camp he worked so successfully was Featherstone Park Camp by Haltwhistle in Northumberland, a camp for german officers.
Not a camp for the diehards from the SS in Scotland...

History / Give Poland back it's lost land ! [132]

Lots of Hungarians are still grousing over it as we speak!

Yeah...but at some point people need to stop with that grousing..it leads only to blood and tears.

I can understand severely opressed people fighting for their freedom and independence but in todays Europe that just isn't the case anymore...

You can the man out of the SS-uniform, but not the uniform out of the man", is that sort of it?

Believe it or not, but even in the SS there were "leaders" and "followers"...

I don't deny that people can learn and change their minds for the better but what I doubt is any kind of institutionalized re-education. I grew up indoctrinated, I was educated to see the world in a special way, to say the right slogans, to accept what I've been told...hence I know that what comes out of such an "re-education" are not necessarily "believer" but people who had learnt to SAY what they was demanded of them, just to not get into the hots, but who also THINK differently otherwise, just keeping it to themselves.

Official re-educating is not necessarily successful..people don't work that way or the communist countries would flourish!

Give over with the shining light of justice and the nazi comparisons. -

Not only Nazi mass murderer...

What Poland would had needed is a kind of "Stasi-Behörde" as in the ex-GDR. All found documents laid out in the open where all concerned citizen could take a look and learn who had done what.

Those who had been a little bit to eager to support the system, after it could be proven with these files, found it hard to just to "move on" in the re-unified Germany. They also had to face the people they helped to terrorize and to opress, no hiding possible.

But to reclaim that, official Poland have to have sane policy.

What would the big slavic brother Russia say when Poland moves it's borders further East, far into Moscows sphere of influence?

PS: A general purging is easier but not the best way. That what happened in Iraq after the topple of Hussein. All members of the Baath party had been purged, no matter if guilty or not, if follower or leader, with desastreous and long lasting violent consequences for the country and the whole region. After all nearly everybody from a certain education onwards war supposed to be a party member..

If the allies had done the same with Germany, there would had been no re-building or the later "Wirtschaftswunder".

I doubt that a little bit...

The party Nazis were removed from power, but that was it.

The many opportunists and "Mitläufer" (nominal follower) were never a problem, not in the Third Reich, nor in the communist GDR (and neither in Poland I think). It's the hard core ideologues which won't change their opinion just because they lost the battle...

In my opinion the only way is to let the "Mitläufer" alone, cut out the fanatics and make sure they will never get a position of power ever again and time will do the rest.

That's what more or less happened in after war West-Germany.
In East Germany it was even more dreary, the same "Mitläufer" which only a few years back screamed Nazi paroles now were all nice SED party members!

The idea that re-education achieves anything more than learning by rote the demanded answers when asked is naive. Humans just don't work that way.

The main difficulty is to separate the "wheat from the chaff"....a general purging is easier.

News / Polish Independence Day March in Warsaw. Is it going to be the biggest march yet? [1530]

That's crap! But for a Single Market to work the members HAVE to agree to some common ground rules...subscribed to in treaties...with the EU commissions as the control body.

Why is that concept so hard to understand? You won't get a free trade single market without it...even less so free movement of goods, services and people!

Europe is a single market [for goods and services and free movement for EU citizens]

For that you need lotsa treaties....common rules...cooperation...alot of snychronization betweeen it's members...meaning even adapting to fit in. There is no union possible where you get only the cherries to pick!

I did?

Germany IS a melting pot already!!! Okay...till now mainly melting with other Europeans (for 2000 years ffs)...now coming some more people from further away, and there are alot of difficulties with their habits some of them bring...but where is the general big difference?

Don't you think there hadn't been a time as Germans were made to believe a "polonization" is looming? And the overtaking of the pure Aryans by them Jews? And what had come of it in hindsight?

Yes, you are unable to feel healthy pride.

Heh:)

"Poland for the Poles" is gooood, that is healthy pride..."Germany for the Germans" is chauvinistic!

Suuuuuuuure.... :):):)

Nationalism sucks when it comes from the other boot, doesn't it?

Look at those German 'ubermensch' protesting in front of Woolworths in 1933.

And you couldn't find a more recent one??? Really??? ROFL

"There are No Native Germans, We are a Nation of Immigrants"

...otherwise neither Klose nor Podolski could have helped make Germany Weltmeister
(they are sorely missed)

....and you really should stop believing Breitbart, it muddles your mind even more!

Yet he witnesses a slow but steady degradation of the city on his trips around London.

"Degradation" because the streets become somewhat "darker"?

Nope, it's you who is blinded by a false pride in German state

Heh:) I remember one of your first posts stating that Germans are unable to be proud of their country...proud to be Germans. And now that's all you meet here..funny that!

(Steinmeier, Merkel) that ethnic Germans are obsolete in a new state of Germany.

A link please? Or two...

I said "easy money" that is to milk German welfare state, not to work.

Immigration is so much older than the welfare state...

They only came to Germany for easy money.

Who doesn't!

That's the main force of every emigration...to look for better shores...to have a chance of a life deserving that name...

Do you believe the gazillion Poles immigrating to Germany over the centuries came because of the weather or our sunny personality or Bayern Munich????

Did they colonize Germany by now?

And if they didn't what does that say about Poles compared to "them Mooslims"?

And they've done it.

That will come really into play when the new EU budget is negotiated....I would bet that other countries won't want to be as solidary as they have been before.

The govs might **** on the legalities but never on the money!

Friend is too big of a word. But maybe someone who doesn't want to interfere with Polish internal affairs.

See? A good time to look forward too...so, stop that whining! Nobody needs or wants your defending...

PS: Germany might end up with more Ukrainians than Poland, now that they are allowed to enter the EU and don't have to stay in Poland.

@Spike

What a future...no longer the hereditary archenemy at the gates...wouldn't that be a great future for Poland??? Shouldn't you and all Breitbartists applaud and support all who work on the doom of Germany and eradication of the german people?

Shouldn't Merkel be your hero? She manages what no war achieved?

Away with the german yoke...freedom for the Poles...yay!

I've always stated plainly that the fate of Germany doesn't interest me only as much as it affects Poland.

How can a hallucination affect Poland? Please stop your whining about Germany's demography...it's embarrassing to watch coming from a Germany-hater!

PS: An idea...why don't you turn your nightmare around to make you feel better? Poland could have a new start with a the soon-to-be-islamized-former-nation-of-Germany with all new not-Germans....no longer the pesky untrustworthy agressive neighbour but a new friend maybe?

Imagine Spikey...no german Nazis anymore to watch out for...wouldn't that be a great future for Poland???

What I always find so pathetic is that all these "looming doom" scenarios for Germany and it's surely impending downfall and destruction come from people who usually hate Germany's guts. Such hypocrits with their false tears...Spikey here is a prime example. And they must know each other from Breitbart...

And if you don't agree you are a "Nazi"!

I just can't take them seriously sorry, that's always such a facepalm moment...*laughs*

Germany is not hiding their agenda anymore.

An opinion piece from Nutter Central Breitbart? Well..then....that must be the truth! *snickers*

...don't you have also an "expert" from RT as you are at it? ROFL

Don't lose your temper. You don't want to get banned like @delphiandomine, do you?

Because of personal attacks instead of arguments? Nah...I wouldn't stand a chance...

PS: When you want to meet real life Nazis you just have to skim the comment section of Breitbart...nutters galore!

You don't have to accuse real life Germans just because they disagree with you...

Do you really think so?

IMHO the core of communism was/is the synchronization of it's people. And everybody who dared to be different, to have a different opinion, wanting to lead a different life was to be hammered back into the uniform mass...being opressed and threatened...jailed, expelled or even killed. The lack of choices was at it's core!

That has stopped, hasn't it!

Isn't it rather so that many people today have even problems with all these choices they have (and consequences of them)? That many people lament the highly individualist nature of the current system and it's lack of a common direction, a common "folk"? A kind of "nostalgia" wishing back a kind of (even forced) political, ethnical, economical, even sexual homogeneity?

How can you say the current system is at it's core the same like the communist one?
