USA, Canada / Traveling from US to Poland with maiden name in my passport and renewing it there [16]

What is the procedure for a British person to renew their passport in Poland? Is it a simple case of filling out the C1 form, paying the administrative fee and attaching a valid photo? Also, I don't want to go to Warsaw twice. They said sth about needing to be a resident to get it posted but that seems like BS to me. I'm only prepared to go once as the passport itself is overpriced. If they want me to come and collect it, then they can pay IMHO. I'll go there and submit my documents like I did with the CNI for my marriage.

I'd be very grateful were anybody to offer some advice as to the current state of play. Thanking you in advance!!

USA, Canada / PolAms -- do you regard yourselves only as 'white Americans'? [187]

No it isn't. My wife thinks Russians are way too mixed and she has a point. Only those around Moscow are really Slavic. Much of their country is composed of mongoloids. Poles have Tatars but they are a tiny group here. Poles are purer Slavs than Russians will ever be.

And from where do you prove those responsibilities? From a manifesto? Try to see the deeper economics here. Ask yourself this, why all the bailouts? Profits stem from war but they can't be lured into a war with Iran as that would be suicide. Still, when you play Russian roulette with the world....I just hope the Russians are invited :)

News / New cross war in Warsaw [530]

Tell me, Madam, what have you been doing recently? Oh, defending a cross :) :) Wow, can you cite me which provision of your contract you are fulfilling there, Madam? I wouldn't pay some useless buffoons here a grosz. Some people are just fit for nothing and Jesus will not save them from that reality. Shout louder, fools, you just might be heard ;)

The Poles should not be made scapegoats. As Bill Hicks said, "you gotta use your options, folks". The Poles are doing that and hats off to them. We should have a nose breaking job aimed at idiots in this world. I'd never be out of work.

Life / WHY DO POLES USE ENGLISH WORDS IN CONVERSATION? [396]

Seanny, you'll be used to such outbursts by now. They come from nowhere. Some women here seem to have permanent PMT/PMS. Time of the month? Time of the day more like ;)

Yes but you can't tell me quite a few Irish folk don't pronounce it more like poob :) I knew quite a few Irish folk that did.

Law / Urząd Skarbowy, I paid too little on my last PIT? [26]

Oh, they are too precise and that much I have learned. My accountant was wrong to the tune of 1,100PLN or so, so what would I be were I to calculate it myself? I got my rebate today. Yes, to the exact grosz. It's a fiddly business!

To the OP, ask sb at the tax office to sort it out. They helped me once and were thoroughly professional about it.

There was no judging involved, monika. Too little, not too few. I was addressing the thread. If you don't want to be associated with us 'Westerners' that use English, don't.

Not in denial at all, thanks.

Right, war, that's what I was getting at. Aaron Russo did a whole film on it, check it up on Google Video. The Poles are small fry when it comes to macroeconomics but that will change progressively if successive governments play their cards right.

Warszawski, what don't you follow?

Delph, that's true. I'd likely know how such a system works as I dealt with it in my Hons year but in the context of Scots Law. However, figures and rules change but that wasn't what I was getting at. I was merely trying to say that there are no sticky barriers to them sending money home unless some organisation imposes a block through alerting Western Union or other bodies which allow for the sending of money home. Oh, you still didn't mention the provision which says Americans have to pay. Which statute or authoritative legal source stipulates that they are duty bound to pay?

Amathyst has the idea :) The same works as between Zakopane residents and those in Chicago. Without the support of each other through money transfers, MANY would have fallen flat on their faces.

When you pay off what you need to, the disposable income is, well, at your disposition. That's the point! You don't want Poles in the UK, don't give them contracts. If they are indeed the best candidate for any given job, give it to them :)

Point me to the law which says that Poles cannot send money home on their earnings from the UK. Ask Western Union for their opinion on the matter. Also, can anyone point me to the provision in America which says they have to pay income tax? People assume way too much without questioning.

Life / Piwo or wodka has had greater effect on polish culture? [19]

It's that way in Poland too. Vodka also but not exclusively. It was a drink for warming up farmers :) Vodka is more a round-the-table drink to allow folk to let out their woes and sorrows :)

It was hardly a comparison, monika. This is about English and pron is a part of that.

You don't want anything to do with English-speaking countries then don't use our words. Kapisz?

It was globalist gits like Buffet that likely pulled the strings and opened the floodgates. Nobody can blame the entitled in this way, especially those that entitled them! Try getting your head around that, Buffet.

No, I don't agree that it's preferable, no. People prefer what people prefer and some prefer British which is equally valid. Your argument is sound if we accept numbers but that doesn't always dictate preference.

History / Poland - Scotland, the untold story... [75]

True on the first point :)

Also true on the second. There are many escape artists that would make Houdini look amateurish :) They just need more courage.

History / Poland - Scotland, the untold story... [75]

I understand their feelings but many needed a wake-up call. I still hear that the same people are doing the same things and, frankly, I have no wish to talk to many people I knew in Scotland as they are just alcohol-fuelled dic*s! I hope more and more Poles keep bringing a fresh infusion of new ideas and wake up those complacent morons who I wouldn't even pay.

Love / How to find an English speaking boyfriend in Poland [110]

From the thread title, it would appear like you want sb to have a physical relationship with but some of your comments would suggest that you are more interested in being in contact with the English language and just having a chance to hang out. Trust me, there's a big difference when you are an expat. I often hung out with girls in Japan as they tended to like the company of foreigners. I don't blame them as most Japanese guys value the company far ahead of them. I enjoyed their company but it was nothing more than just chatting as I had a GF when I was there.

History / Poland - Scotland, the untold story... [75]

It works two ways, David. The Poles were fearless warriors in WWII. They did our planes proud and defended the island with aplomb.

Scots and Poles have always been talented craftsmen :)

There is a major Scottish-Polish organisation in Scotland. The Scots I know tend to think well of them. Then again, the Scots I know tend to be highly fair and educated people who are willing to give others a chance and honour the good things they did for us. There are plenty that are not that way :(

I'll join that club :) Still, 25,000 Poles in Aberdeenshire puts things in perspective :) That number still couldn't convince the numpties at Aberdeen Airport to create a flight to Poland. Aberdeen-Kraków, make it happen!
