News / What kind of Poland do most Poles want? [101]

godless sluts

??????????

What kind of person would even think of using a phrase like that, much less post it online?

A Poland where people use phrases like that is not one that most people would want.

News / Poland -- Europe's only counterweight to Russia [271]

I'm talking about Ukraine.

Yes, and you touted corruption levels under the former Putinist government as a reason for Putin to invade the now! Classic...

that you spell incorrectly by the way

As a French speaker you have probably figured out why...

I know that Google is a search engine, and that's EXACTLY why I was asking for REAL sources, and not random quotations you found from a random research.

Random quotes? Random research? Do you expect everyone that call you out to pop down to the National Library and pore through archived manuscripts? You were called out on your bullcrap - get used to it instead of squirming.

To repeat. Russia openly threatens Poland. has invaded a sovereign state friendly to Poland. Poland does not trust Russia. Nor do most other stable democratic countries.

In your opinion. Would you rather a miserable couple stay in a toxic marriage with all the accompanying effects on the kids, domestic violence, alcoholism, child abuse?

And you didn't see

Nope. In your mind.

I suggest you see a good Jewish oculist

Why a. a Jewish ocularist, and b. why bother mentioning the gentleman's religion. You seem to have athing about Jewish people.

Life / Do Polish People steal a lot? [330]

most Polish people are very very law abiding

This is true, but there are obviously a lot of exceptions. Central Warsaw doesn't lack pickpockets or beggars.

I do hear that the UK is having quite an issue with some Polish criminals though.

Mostly vehicle offences and things like bootleg vodka/cigs. Unfortunately there was a spate of Polish men advertising jobs back in Poland for women in UK care homes and when the women arrived they found themselves locked in brothels with their passports taken. The Poles have largely been muscled out of that by similar lowlife from south-east Europe.

I feel a lot of the immigrant Poles have found England to be full of these types.

Police in some parts of small town southern Poland have said that the local crime rate plummeted after EU entry. Basically all the local bandziory and smarkaczy had gone to Britain or Ireland.

News / What kind of Poland do most Poles want? [101]

Most countries pay more than Poland so that is a major attraction.

And not only.

Probably you didn't know Poland has fewer OD/drug-related deaths

Being (for now anyway) more rural than most of those.

I notice you don't mention alcohol related deaths

Poland has fewer cars per capita

or deaths on the road, despite the fewer cars per capita. Poland leads in this respect.

And Poland has a lower divorce rate

Not a positive thing at all, where people are trapped in miserable and destructive broken marriages for economic or social reasons. Staying together "for the sake of the kids" is not in any sense a positive thing.

...appalled, resentful and frustarted at having been sent out to pasture and deprived of the former perks and privileges they enjoyed under the scam-friendly Platformer regime

What? Retired people? Private sector workers? Doctors? Lawyers? Shop workers? People who work for Catholic charities? Engineers? Teachers? During the last Polish pro-democracy rally I recognised people I know who do all of those things.

Come off it, Po. you know perfectly well that nobody believes your inane and amateurish propaganda.

Belgium and France and the UK

Basically places that people want to live. A few times people here, mostly younger women, have described London to me as "the nearest place to civilisation".

and if you think you are 'normal' you are seriously deluded.

Very far from normal. Just an online windbag with a very chequered history doing online amateur polemics that are completely out of touch with the situation in Poland.

The Polish pro-democracy protesters have nothing to worry about from things like that; indeed I'd be surprised if that many of them read English. They tend to be ordinary people who are appalled at the attacks on democracy and on Poland by the toxic PiS cult.

Freedom House are

A highly respected organisation. Perhaps you prefer far-right set-ups.

And deny it though you pathetically tried, Mr Kijowski was invited to Washington.

AP says exactly what is bounced back

Don't be silly. Why would the world's largest news agency use a secondary source in a foreign language. When a phone call to Freedom House would save all that hassle.

Much as you dislike the fact that the leader of Poland's pro-democracy movement was invited to Washington, that suggestion was really clutching at straws...

History / Is 5th partition of Poland possible? What kind? How? When? [73]

It would be impossible for Poland to "illegally" annex its own sovereign property, art, and culture.

Indeed, however Ukraine is not Poland's "own sovereign property, art, and culture" and nobody credible has ever suggested that...

Poland's rights are undeniable.

Poland's rights do not extend to invading Ukrainian territory and nobody (except yourself, an American with, shall we say, deeply eccentric ideas) has even suggested that.

To remind you, since you evidently have difficulty grasping the concept, Poland and Ukraine are friendly countries who respect each others borders. Neither sovereign state have any irredentist ambitions.

You remind me a bit of that crazy who used to post here with a similar user name, LegalEagle (which he was anything but) that believed or pretended to believe that Lech Wąłęsa was still president!

The point is that the bettle plague cannot be allowed to reach the oak stands,

That, Po, is a matter for forestry experts. I, and I suspect anyone else who doesn't pretend to blindly follow the PiS regime would doubtless trust the experts, (read the FT article if you haven't already) than the current regime's moneygrabbers.

But if you use this approach, the foresters don't get their hands on the 200 year old trees that are very valuable on the open market, hence the local forest inspectorate loses power/money. It's all about a cash grab under the guise of 'management'.

Exactly.

History / Is 5th partition of Poland possible? What kind? How? When? [73]

Poland needs to be prepared for the realpolitik of the situation

The 'situation' here does not involve Poland illegally annexing Lviv or any other part of Ukrainaian sovereign territory.

Indeed no government here has suggested it, there is no political or popular will to do so and it would be in direct contravention of international law. Indeed the economic and political sanctions and travel restrictions that would result would be something Poland would not want to see.

Furthermore, as a historic champion of freedom and self determination (mostly...) Poland simply would not get involved in this.

News / Poland -- Europe's only counterweight to Russia [271]

Jon, the previous (pre-Maidan) governement was corrupt,

And Russia isn't? Russia is one of the most corrupt states in the world, and the circles around Putain are extremely corrupt and proven beyond any doubt to be so. They are also murderous, as the poisoning of Aleksander Litvinienko in Londan and the unnatural and untimely deaths of so many of his pponents proves.

BTW, when you say "the previous (pre-Maidan) governement was corrupt", one presumes you mean the the previous (pre-Maidan) Putinist puppet regime.....

Mr. Poroshenko is on the list of the current world leaders involved in tax evasion.

And so is a huge chunk of the dicrator Putain's gang.

Is that what Ukrainians really wanted?

Up to them. Russia in general and Putin in particular are not the policemen of Ukraine, fortunately.

Sources? Google is not a valid source, Jon.

That's a classic - one of the most meretriciously inane comments to appear on this forum in a decade!

Polson, you do realise that Google is a search engine, don't you?Meaning they don't actually produce the websites (like this one) that come up on the search engine. Including the ones quoted that demolished your point...

Would you also suggest that a public library isn't "a valid source" or that the phone book isn't "a vaild source".

And yes, you are very much a Putin apologist, having defended him to the best of your (evidently limited "Google is not a valid source"!!!) ability on this thread and elsewhere.

But it doesn't wash. People are by and large intelligent and sensible enough (providing they don't say stuff like Google is not a valid source) to cut through the propaganda. And here in Poland, quite simply, nobody believes it...

There is no credible suggestion at all that the trees they are cutting down by the thousand are infested by spruce bark beetles, nor that the logging they are doing would prevent infestation - this is purely a cash cow. And a very sad one.

"It is notable that only 57 per cent of the stipulated harvest refers to spruce, the bark beetle's host tree species."

And even more to the point, why on earth would anyone want to involve the CIA, some sort of American thing, about the Mafia in Poland?

'virgin forest'

Indeed one of the last virgin forests and also one of Poland's main tourist attractions. And PiS are deliberately raping it for cash.
euronews.com/2016/01/18/poland-activists-call-for-bialowieza-forest-to-be-protected/

Here's a little information for those unaware of Bialowieza about the area that PiS are destroying for cash. One of the very many (and entirely negative) aspects of Polan's post-election political scene:

The Bialowieza Forest is one of the few virgin forests of the European Union and definitely the most beautiful one. It is located across the border between Belarus and Poland, less than 70 km from Brest.

The importance of this forest, stated by the inclusion among the UNESCO Heritage sites in 1979, comes by the fact that it represents the last crop of the great forest that thousands of years ago occupied the entire European area.

theitalianeyemagazine.com/en/where-to-find-the-ultimate-virgin-forests/

One of the many, many problems with PiS (a party who were an abject failure when they held office for just 17 months a few years ago before) is that they have very little of either self-awareness or self-control and people are understandably worried that this is the tip of the iceberg.

So far, they've:
- tried to destroy the Constitutional Court
- withdraw funding from families having fertility treatment
- proposed banning women from terminating a pregnancy if they're raped
- abolish the newly won independence and neutrality of the justice system
- broken into the NATO offices in the middle of the night

and much, much more...

They weren't, Po and well you know it. As shown to you above the logging was always at a sustainable level. Now the PiS regime, presumably as part of Kaczyński's plan to destroy Poland have massively increased the logging in Poland's principle National Park.

Law / Brit/Pol divorce. Husband - British, non resident Poland. Wife - Polish resident, Poland. [10]

That would help because polish family courts are notoriously extremely biased and vindictive against foreigners and men in general so you'll get robbed anyway.

This can be true, however it looks like the OP and his ex aren't fighting over assets/custody so surely everything should go as the former couple have agreed between themselves?

Life / Swearing in front of children - is it normal in Polish society? [26]

very few Polish people have got mullets,

Thousands have. Not the mullet you're thinking of, but a different kind, the Polish Mullet, where they leave the back of your hair thicker than the rest. Less hassle than to carry round a sign saying "provincial".

I see generalizing is something you're a fan of.

What else can one do when talking about large groups of people. Unfortunately the near constant swearing, particularly 'kurwa' comes as part of a package of behaviours. Not all 'kurwa' swearers dress like that however yes, extreme behaviours and habits in any society tend to come as part of a cultural/socioeconomic package.

And to keep to the thread, it's the OP's house and daughter and if some guest (an in-law or not) offends their host, they can either apologise and stop doing it (pretty hard for such an ingrained habit) or they can stay out of his home.

I wouldn't allow that in my home here in Warsaw, he doesn't need to allow it in his home either.

Life / Swearing in front of children - is it normal in Polish society? [26]

As has been mentioned, people from the lower classes tend to swear more, as they do in America, England and elsewhere.

This is true, however it occurs far more within the Polish language. If you walk round town here, in the daytime, and count the number of times you hear the word "kurwa"...

Worth remembering that it means "wh0re". Interesting what that says about the psychology of the nation as a whole that they chose the word "wh0re" as not only their favourite obscenity, but one that an awful lot of people in Poland parrott out several times a minute.

More educated or better brought up people do not swear in front of their kids.

This is also true, however its the tracksuit-wearing, mulleted, church-going, bigos-eating ones ones further down the food chain whose use of it you (and the poor wee kiddies) hear.

So to answer the topic title, no this is not normal in society in Poland.

It is very much 'normal society'. Every society is comprised of different elements and the poorer and less-educated are the vast majority. Hence hearing it all the time.

I favour this approach:

Then don't. Tell them that if they want to be around you and the child, the swearing has to stop.

Having said that , two years old IS a bit young, and at that 'parrot' phase. OP just stop inviting them round for another two years.

The point is to sell papers

I doubt that article would make much impact on sales. Website hits maybe, however they aren't exactly short of those, being one of the most visited news websites in the world.

It's such a pearl in Poland and there's nothing comparable in most of Europe - chopping down 200 year old trees there just for the sake of filling the pockets of local foresters is absolute madness.

I don't think any of us could possibly disagree with that. Why are the PiS regime hell-bent on chopping the forest down?

News / Poland directly threatened by ISIS. Do Islamists planning terrorist attacks in Poland? [390]

They are actually tired of you and your schemes.

And you would know this precisely how? And despite flying in the face of all evidence.

We have. We controlled radical Muslims on Kosovo and then came Britain, to help to its extreme friends.

No you didn't. the Serbs butchered innocent people and only came to Britain in a van from The Hague. To repeat, Poland's response to a terrorist threat has little or nothing to do with Serbia.

Then, great sh** befall them.

And look what happened to Serbia? Poland however is not so daft. One reason that:

a. Poland avoids Serbia like the plague,
and
b. Issues like anti-terrorism (whether from ISIS or not) are dealt with in Poland and EU wide. Nothing to do with obscure Balkan states.
