News / LGBT hate speech to be banned in Poland [208]

What's the longest time you can manage to go without thinking about gay sex? An hour?

Rather less.

Anyway, hate speech has already been banned in Poland and not even PiS have suggested repealing the law.

Travel / Hire a Car in Berlin to drive into Poland - can I cross the border driving it? [15]

.In general terms does anyone know if it is 'allowed' to cross over into Poland with a German hire car?

Only unless it's allowed by the particular car hire service. You need to check with them.

This was in around 1995 or thenabouts, but renting a car and driving ought to be no different in procedure.

The problem is that the insurance with hire cars doesn't always allow it.

In a worst case scenario the driver could be accused of car theft.

News / Hackers attack Polish "erotic dating" site, threaten to expose users [35]

Dating service indeed?

Indeed.

If the e-dating goes beoynd the virtual stage, you can catch HIV, clap, pubic lice and other "goodies" all the same.

So what? Is it any business of yours what people do in their private lives?

Nobody is forcing you to sign up to a lonely hearts' club...

News / Poland -- Europe's only counterweight to Russia [271]

It's not really about corruption, but more about the fact that we supported another regime change in an independent country

Poland doen't support Russia's illegal invasion of Ukraine. Leaders of both parties are clear on this.

A search engine's role is not to index "reliable" contents, but just ANY contents,

And the content cited to you was respectable and neutral - it doesn't fit your hypothesis for a very obvious reason - get over that.

Yes, close ties. Most people in Eastern Ukraine (which covers a vast area) have Russian as their primary langage

So what? Most people in Southern Ireland have English as their primary language. Would that excuse us invading them again?

News / LGBT hate speech to be banned in Poland [208]

back on topic please

In a lot of ways this is on topic, since that particular political tendency in Poland do have a fixation with the subject. And that fixation is just one more factor (of many) that has made them a laughing stock.

Do you remember TinkyWinkygate, when one of their so-called ministers wanted to ban the Tellytubbies?

There you go again, all this "perversion" talk. And the irony is that nationally, hearing nutters rant about "perversion" just makes people reflect on sexual minorities. The end result will be the opposite of what the ranters want.

Most Christians are not obsessed with that subject.

And certainly don't smear the internet with their scatological fantasies

Travel / Driving in Poland, are there any rules at all? [149]

Poles - be ashamed of your driving.

It's a sad thing when a country is right up there near the top of the accident statistics and even sadder when the drivers blame "the roads". If a road is bad, it means you drive more carefully.

If ever you hurt my loved ones with your idiocy... I will find you

My (much closer than just a) friend was run over and killed when crossing a road in central Warsaw by a speeding driver who didn't slow down when he approached a crossing. No prosecution, since he was apparently a Polish 'VIP'. If I ever find him...

News / Poland -- Europe's only counterweight to Russia [271]

It will stand, not least because Poland recognises its current borders and has no will as a country to change them.

Assorted online cranks may have creepy ideas about annexing neighbours. The reality is different.

History / Is 5th partition of Poland possible? What kind? How? When? [73]

"The Ukraine" is a region, not a country.

Ukraine is a sovereign state recognised by Poland (and everywhere else) and Lviv is in Ukraine. No partition of either Ukraine or Poland is going to happen.

News / Hackers attack Polish "erotic dating" site, threaten to expose users [35]

Very very sensible. It's also worth googling yourself (and use the right search terms, not just your name especially if it's a common one), seeing what's out the and taking what steps you can to make sure it's all OK.

And never, ever, post your full name and address (and certainly not d.o.b) together online.

But online dating should be private. There's nothing remotely wrong with it (as long as you're discerning about who you agree to meet and take sensible precautions.

It makes me laugh that there are people still out there who think their Internet is private.

Yes. Anything online can potentially stay there for as long as computers exist.

But if you don't break the law it is private.

Just as people using online dating are not breaking the law. The hackers however are very much breaking the law.

News / Poland -- Europe's only counterweight to Russia [271]

a British citizen cannot speak for Poland!

Only the Polish government canspeak for Poland - not me, not you. And further encroaches on Ukraines sovereignty will almost certainly be protested by Poland on an international level as they were when the illegal invasion started and as they have been at every stage since by both parties in government during the period.

News / Poland -- Europe's only counterweight to Russia [271]

Exactly why the border needs to get moved as far East as possible for the good of all concerned, as Putin has offered to accept.

Poland however is not interested in changing its current borders in any way, shape or form.

However much you wish the opposite were true...

News / Poland -- Europe's only counterweight to Russia [271]

I was ONLY saying that the previous government was corrupt, and the new one, supported by the West (as "democratic") is at least as corrupt if not more.

You're very entitled to say that, but really it's neither here nor there in relation to Ukraine's sovereignty. If having corruption issues (as do so many countries including Poland, Italy and most of South America) was justification for another country with even more corruption issues to invade them, then fine. But it isn't.

I expect people who debate with me to check their sources and share them with me, and not hide them. Otherwise, the argument is null and void.

Hide sources in what way? By citing them? I don't much like the phrase 'LOL' but it really does fit here.

How and when? You still haven't answered that question.

See above. Unless you still pretend that any source that has been put online and indexed by a search engine is not infact reliable. Another LOL...

Talking about "friendly states" (which doesn't mean much in international affairs), the ties between Ukraine and Russia are much, much closer than between Ukraine and Poland

A brutal and bloody invasion 'close ties'? Come off it!

News / Demonstrations in Poland in defence of democracy. [2554]

Interesting to see that the lie about Kijowski not having been invited by Freedom House has been dropped now

Isn't it interesting. The constant lies and disinformation on each and every topic, not just from PiS-ite trolls here but also from PiS itself and their supporters in real life can seem relentless at first, however they always get caught out in their lies.

No wonder tens of thousands of ordinary peop e come out on the streets for the Polish pro-democracy rallies.

News / German government tells journalists how to badmouth Poland [42]

Germany won't decline cause of the refugees. So sad.

Spot on. So many of the anti-immigration people moan about it; it's like a broken record repeating the same few words. I wonder how many of them have lifted a finger in order to have any impact other than internet windbaggery...

News / Demonstrations in Poland in defence of democracy. [2554]

Obviously there weren't ever any pro-democracy public protests before 1989, were there, Wulkan....

Not a single one. Perhaps Lech Wąłęsa scaled those gates because he'd lost his keys, perhaps all those monuments were nothing but a myth.

Do you seriously think that these 76 pages here are a joke? Look at any Polish newspaper site.

And it's started to spread outside Poland too.

All we ever hear about with PIS is about individuals.

With them, it's often about trying to settle old scores.

News / What kind of Poland do most Poles want? [101]

Very hard to know what you mean here...

And why you think so little of women that you use expressions like:

godless sluts

and

assorted trollops

Considering how often you trumpet about your religion here, you are actually a very poor advert for it...

But I'm not a PiS supporter, almost nobody is,

Pleased to hear it. maybe on a visit back you'll come along to one of the Polish pro-democracy marches

it later turned out to be a complete BS!

Once again, Wulkan, the opposite of the truth. PiS supporters wouldn't know truth and objectivity if it slapped them in the face with a wet huss.

Isaac Zamend

I did wonder, but it was a bit weak. Reminds me of a funny joke about a Pole at the opticians that you might like (not the US kind of Polish joke) but if you want to hear it then we should go to random chat.

About the people I saw and recognised when the Polish pro-democracy march passed by, all of them were ordinary enough people, ones you would probably get on with. It's a genuine grassroots movement, no more the people you mention than the average PiS voter is in any way like the crank Macierewicz.
