Language / Bought "Rosetta Stone" software and trying to learn Polish... [59]

Tak, I use it sometimes, half way through the course it becomes confusing
so you will need a Pol/Eng dictonary.

Also, is learning a language effective if I don't have anyone to converse with?

Why learn it if your not going to use it???

Food / Mother of all hangovers....Polish Beer! [71]

There are a bunch of popular imported beers in the US that I won't touch after having had them in their home countries. Bass and Heineken stand out in particular.

When I was in Holland the Heineken tasted so good but here in the US I cant
stand it....Horrible!!!

brewed differently for the US market. I forget the reason why

maybe they have to use more preservatives?

really looking forward to meeting up in chi

I`ll have to show you guys my favorite restaurant

I`m curious to know what you think as compared to Poland

Polish or American??

I say in the Polish hood it would be mosty Okocim but Zyweic is popular too.

Anywhere else Miller lite would be the biggest seller, sinse youre used to
good beer youll probably call it American **** like most people that know better.

Language / I want to learn Polish. Where to start? [180]

Well its expensive and by the time you get half way through it you will need
a Eng/Pol dictionary because it gets confusing.

Transparentlanguage is a better deal for the money.

But I`m not saying Rosettastone is a bad program either:)

Language / I want to learn Polish. Where to start? [180]

although I think the pronunciation is probably the most important part to grasp.

thats why I like the computer programs, The one I have lets you speak through
the mic and compares it with a native speakers voice

USA, Canada / American people attitude towards Poles in the USA [98]

And we don't see them committing major crimes in the streets. There's nothing to complain about. They're not bothering anyone.

I agree, the crime in other ethnic neighborhoods is way higher than here in Polonia

Yes this could have a lot to do with it. Also the fact that we like to think we're multi-cultural in the UK but compared to the USA we aren't really.

Thanks PD, I can drive from one side of my city and pass through
Little Korea / Asian
Greek town
Ukrainian village
Chinatown
Little Italy
Latino
Irish/ celtic
German
Polonia
to name a few

cant we just stop all these anti Polish threads

I just copied English people attitute towards poles thread
then changed the name of the country

This discussion is about American attitudes to Polish people in the USA?
If we widened the debate to include Canada, might someone actually mention the Western side of the Atlantic for a change?

Thanks donkey you are very observant:)

How were Polish people seen in America before the end of Communism

To tell you the truth I dont think many Americans payed much attention to it
