History / Why is Poland weaker than Russia? [390]

It depends on what you mean as "a lot".

Na ja....as the sources show the Sovietunion extracted during the first decade as much reparations from Central and Eastern Europe as the whole Marshall Plan put in.

And as we know that aid started the re-building and rise of western Europe to the most stable and wealthy region on Earth in its history.

The Sovietunion could have done the same with the amount they did take away. And again, that didn't end after 10 years. That exploitation of it's forced vassals got on in one way or the other till the downfall.

You said..I quote:

A largest war in known history that ended without any significant reparations to those countries that suffered most of all...

The contrary is true, the Russians made sure reparations were paid, an enormous amount of it...that was definitely "a lot"!

News / Polish Independence Day March in Warsaw. Is it going to be the biggest march yet? [1530]

What I know is that if the elect LePen that would mean FREXIT,

I'm not so sure...after all they have the Brexit-Show to watch now. And I very much doubt there would be ever a majority in France to find for that...in Germany either.

But you are right, without France and Germany there would be no EU...

Why do you think Poland is better off alone, is beyond me though!

The whole concept of the EU is based on works of Altiero Spinelli an Italian communist

That might be but I live here now and I grew up in a socialist totalitarian state and I know the difference...the EU is surely neither!

...a leftist federation with no independent states.

And being a federation in no way implies to be a socialist totalitarian state (for example US..Germany...). Actually socialist totalitarian states need a strong center to be able to rule with a strong hand aka the party leader, not strong federal regions. They are always centralist, not federalist!

We're talking about France so obviously nobody will say that the main fault lies in a Socialism System

....and that Frenchies like to protest! Theirs is a history of upheavals... ;)

Alot of these protestors would prefer socialist Melenchon and/or national socialist LePen to Macron...if that comes true THEN you will see what a real socialist system is!

They will wish for Macron to be back...

50 000 people has demonstrated this Saturday according to French Interior Minister.

And for what exactly? I still can't believe that it is all about a higher tax for that toxic diesel fuel to support the environment! *palm face*

And the EU sponsored police riot car was used to pacify them.

What do you mean with "EU sponsored"? With a german driver perhaps? :):):)

Agreed...Both, Western Germany and Japan got lucky to fall into the US zone...and Italy (and Austria) too just played the victors to get out of it unscathed.

Poland on the other hand got punished twice...

But you agree now that Russians got lotsa reparations contrary to your former claim?

So it looks like there's no stopping of yellow vests in France

It is already drizzling out....the numbers get lower from day to day...

No wonder, between them are marching left extremists side by side with right wing nutters...with no real leadership or real goals...it's just a diffuse blob of general dissatisfaction with life.

History / Why is Poland weaker than Russia? [390]

BB claimed that Moscow literally ROBBED HALF OF EUROPE for 50 YEARS.

Not only literally:

...The net outflow of resources from eastern Europe to the Soviet Union was approximately $15 billion to $20 billion in the first decade after World War II...

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foreign_relations_of_the_Soviet_Union#Europe

That alone equals the aid from the US to western Europe under the Marshall plan...and the exploitation didn't end there.

And why are you so surprised?

Yeah..well...that seems to be a matter of view point. But ask yourself that, why is that Soviet Empire dust now? Only mourned by very few people? Mostly Russians...

I'm talking about those from the outside of EU.

How should I know? That would be new to me, do you have any links?

A largest war in known history that ended without any significant reparations to those countries that suffered most of all...

Well...if you are speaking about Russia, I respectfully disagree...Moscow helped itself to half of Europe to plunder for about 50 years. One hell of a reparation if you ask me!

Like WTF?

Not out of love of these immigrants and their children, for sure!

That are called EU-Laws, Iron....and no wonder PiS isn't daring to touch them. Just imagine all those millions of Poles all over Europe, living and working in all EU member states cutted off from the welfare of their host nations too as in retaliation...now that would be for sure not a vote-getter.

Clinically, yes...also abit emotionally distant with the hindsight of nearly 100 years...but never cynically.

Thus, I wouldn't expect Poles and Polish leadership to back off nordstream 2 anytime soon.

I don't expect anything from PiS...it's shadow leader is a gnarled, embittered man refighting the wars of the past.

When something happens it's because there are alot of question marks concerning Nordstream in Germany too, regarding Putin that is.

Many Germans for example still believe that the Nazi's reduced unemployment through large infrastructure projects like the Autobahnen.

The Nazi system wasn't sustainable, that too they had in common with all socialist ideals.

Hence the wars, one big job creation scheme for the many unemployed....Hitler needed the wars to avoid to be found out, to gain the profits to pay for all this, to keep the men busy...that's why all the alternative history guys are so dead wrong when they fantasize about a victorious Third Reich...there would never have been an "Endsieg"....the outcome was unavoidable.

Well, the German Wikipedia makes a better job of explaining that the party program from 1925 became quickly obsolete afterwards.

Yeah...well...that they have in common with alot of politicians and party's. The socialist GDR wasn't what they promised either.

But IMHO the NSDAP surfed big time on the leftist/socialist wave...not only in the name..

Actually the welfare they (PiS) shuck out for families and children is very socialist....and that "for polish families and children only" to make the polish people grow is very nationalist....to what makes them that?

History / Why is Poland weaker than Russia? [390]

The NSDAP was socialist in name only to attract underclass voters

But...how should they know? Did you ever take a look at the party program?

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Socialist_Program#The_25-point_Program_of_the_NSDAP

Alot of these 25 points would be totally agreeable for many not only on the left side today too...

Life / Expat Communities in Far-Western Poland [46]

The thing is they don't count as foreigners but as EU-citizens, coming from the poor South of Europe but still EU members....so all EU-laws apply to them automatically too, that's why there won't be a special institution as for refugees.

The Sinti-Roma population within Germany itself is quite insignificant,

The native ones for sure...it's the immigrants which cause much havoc. Leaving their dirt poor ghettoes in Romania, Bulgaria and elsewhere to ship their children off to Germany to get their by EU-law allowed support money. Adults get sold by human traffickers with wrong adresses and not-existing jobs equally to be registered in Germany to get their by EU-law allowed welfare money.

Their numbers are rising quickly!

And there is not much the gov can and will do, all the while only shrugging shoulders and pointing at laws...in the meantime all the progress being made in the past with the acceptance of these minorities flies just out of the window again. They are back to their old bad image...

I don't believe she's going to willingly give up for a second

Hmmm....who says something about "giving up"?

Merkel is quite young for a politician. And still already with an incredible vita behind her...I believe she has set her sights at a new goal, the EU, maybe even the UN. She always preferred the international glamorous ball room to the often quite dreary domestic asylum. I wouldn't be suprised when she plans to leave her national legacy in AKK's trusted hands and starts a new career internationally.

For me the great thing about being here is its safe to live here I often forget to lock the house up, the roads are empty so travel is simple

Yeah....living in a picturesque little gem of a town...amidst a nice landscape...with empty roads...definitely also my cup of tea, as a future retiree...

Traditionalism is for the old! :)

Come 2021 Merkel will be out of the picture anyway, so it's only a matter of time before a more Centrist figure

Nah...better get used to the mini-Merkel: Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer...or AKK for short. Most probably the next chancellor..

What I'm talking about is a society where young people actively embrace traditional values

Good luck with that!

Young people are generally less traditional...being young and all that! They tend to rebel, wanting to explore, learning new stuff....THEY ARE YOUNG FFS!

If some German wants to find a place with conservative lifestyle, maybe it's better to search for some ... German village?

Yeah...outside of some mega cities life is still quite conservative, and probably will continue to be so, especially with the young ones often leaving and joining the wild life in said cities...

(Sodom and Gomorrah seems to be much more interesting than church and kitchen!)
