Should countries be boycotted for offending Poles?

Absolutely!I was calling for boycotting them for a long time! Not only countries but also nationals of these countries need to boycotted and/or discriminated against.Let the Dutch,Irish and British ******* know what we think of them!I also don't think it's a bad thing to rip them off when given opportunity. It's not a crime or a shame to steal from them!

Why else!! If Poland isn't poor why have several million emigrated and not returned??

I emigrated because I don't want to feel screwed. ******* VAT,ZUS,akcyza, personal tax,CGT.And where is all that ******* money? **** that and **** EU taxes too!Now I pay 0 (zero, null, nada) % sale tax,no ZUS (well some SS but that's little money),no akcyza,15% CGT IF I reach certain treshold.Give me just universal healthcare and I will be a happy camper.

Relatively, because paying Western European prizes for global brands with your Central European salary makes you feel like a beggar.

I don't think you know what you are talking about.Poles would be more than happy to pay Western European (not to mention North American) prices for global brands.

That remainds me of a funny (I think) incident. When my mom visted me in the US,I took her to Tangier Outlets and among others we went to Tommy Hillfiger store. She bought some stuff and we left. Then in the car she looked at the change she got from cashier and said "I think this lady gave me TOO MUCH change",I looked at the change she was holding, then at the receipt and said "No,everything is right",my mom said "Really???Lets go back there!".She's on Polish teacher salary.

Same with the food. It isn't that expensive in the UK and is slightly cheaper in Poland.

We should look not only at the price but also or maybe even first of all factor the quality.Lets compare carrots.American carrots at my local Food Lion are $1/lb,Polish carrots in Poland are 1PLN/lb but if I had a choice I would pay even $2/lb for Polish carrots because American grown are juiceless, they are like dried carrots or something.

OK, you convinced me. I am not going to do that. Thanks for taking care of the environment.

I am glad I did.Don't fall into this "buy, buy, buy, consume, consume" trap.In my opinion it's stupid and like I already said bad for enviroment.I felt very, very disturbed watching on YT many perfectly good vehicles being destroyed in Cash for clunkers program. They weren't clunkers, some of them "fought" a long time before they killed them.I wished I could save them...

Don`t US manufacturers pay you for buying their car?

If they did I would consider buying a brand new car.

In America, being poor means not having a car.

Plenty of poor people in America have cars. Not having a car and/or DL in America means being doomed. In certain areas it is simply impossible to live without a car.

It is pis poor by European standards

Is it?I don't know what to think.I am here for a week already and it does not look poor at the first glance.Plenty of new cars including expensive even by US standarts SUVs in my 50k residents town.Town looks really nice, much nicer and more modern than comparable Salisbury MD though roads are in a bit worse shape.Villages around don't look much (if any) worse than rural Delaware.£ódź on the other hand looks ghetto like ,even the main street Piotrkowska looks neglected but than again NYC and NJ seen from Greyhound bus going to Penn Station looked like a ghetto too. Of course everyone is telling me how bad it is here but what I see just does not fit my definition of a poor country.

Try books,

So you are telling me that Americans read Polish books?Get the **** out of here.

chocolate e.g. Wedel

I already said that Polish chocolate in the US does not cost any less than US made.

sausage,

Sausage?Where did you find Made in Poland sausage in the US?

beer

Polish beer is at the same price as the rest of imported beer.

All are twice as INexpensive as the comensurate items from any of the other countries in Europe I've mentioned.

Where,post links you a hole!Nothing new,you don't know ****.

Most Poles, when they buy a new car or mobile phone or whatever, they use those items for a few years, instead of exchanging for newer better models every year or so.

And why would you want to do that?Dude,it is bad for enviroment.

I have been driving my mini van for 5 years now and am not going to replace it with anything new. I am too poor.

I can buy at least 3 brand new cars at any given moment and I am driving 25 y/o Jaguar and my next car will be also "historic".I am too cheap.

That is why I hope in 10 or 15 years I will be able to buy a new car every year.

Do you think that average Joe in the US can buy a new car every year?(I am talking cash not payments)

Polish products in the States tend still to be much cheaper than those, say, from France, Germany, Scandinavia or Britain

What Polish products you talking about? The only Polish products I managed to find were:chocolate priced at thr same level as American chocolate, sardines in a can priced as other sardines in a can from I don't know where, beer priced at the level of the rest of imported beers, vodka on par or more expensive than most of imported vodka brands. So what other Polish products did you find?

Law / Buying a car in Poland for export [48]

I just looked at Allegro, you can get a nice 1997 FSO Polonez WITH OC and Inspection for as little as 228 Euros. Not really a Soviet classic but much more reliable.

The allmost correct sentence would a be a country behind the iron curtain?

I would say Warsaw Pact country or (which I like less) Eastern Bloc country.

I'm just keen on everything coming from the old soviet countries...

I don't want to dissapoint you but Poland was never a "soviet country" so if it has to be Soviet made your options are limited to Lada,Moskwitch,Tavria, Zaporozec,GAZ and UAZ .

I doesn't have to be in a mint condition

I can assure you that for 500 euros the vehicle won't be even close to mint condition.

Żuk (Beetle) can go up to 90-100 km/h but that's "extreme sport".Nysa have the same engine as Żuk.
What do you want to spend on the vehicle?

UK, Ireland / Common pitfalls for Poles learning English [187]

my lodger is far from stupid.

I did not say he is,or did I?

he learned russian and german in poland.

And so have I but I am not claiming to be fluent in any of them because I am not yet I could easily convince you that I am as you have no clue. What I am saying is that there is no way for you to know wheter someone is fluent or not in the language you don't speak at at least intermediate level.

i cant understand how hard it is for him to pick up english.on a daily basis i give him new words to learn. sometimes he remembers, sometimes not. my opinion is that he has been put off by the grammar as well.its totally opposite to polish grammar.i think he is scared of learning and is worried he will make mistakes.however, i have explained that if he wants to stay in the uk, he needs to learn english.

See the point is that IF he's FLUENT in German he should have no problems with learning English as it's much easier to become FLUENT in English than it is in German.

he worked in italy and portugal and picked up both languages.dont know to what degree

And?I spent 2 months in Paris, picked up some French words and can even put together few sentences in French but does it make me fluent in French?Hell no!

Oh,and guess what, I am not even fluent in English even though I live among Americans (including my 2 American ex wifes) in the US for the last 7 years.

No,you should have said "as any car which was RE DESIGNED in 1994".

but Poland had its own superior version, the Fiat 125p. You will find thousands of these

Find where?Maybe at the junkyards as these cars are already rare and the taken care of ones are more expensive than newer western cars.

UK, Ireland / Common pitfalls for Poles learning English [187]

oh yes i could ! my polish might not be that great, but my english is relatively ok lol! how much do you want to bet?

I want to bet (as long as you counting American names as English)!

If you'll notice, many English-speaking Poles will say "fank you", or "somefing".

If you will notice all non native speakers not only Poles have problems with th sound. How is "fank you" any worse than "senk you" or "somefing" any worse than "somesing" (I heard that from Dutch person)?

he speaks fluent russian and german, and also italian and portuguese

How can you even know that if you are not native speakers of any of mentioned languages?I seriously doubt he does.

do poles find learning english particularly difficult?

Don't know about poles but as a Pole I find English pretty easy.Don't know about English in UK but in the US accent is the key.Put accent on wrong sylabe and they won't have a clue what you are talking about.

DON'T buy a 200D or 240D, the power is so pathetic you will not make it out of Poland.

Not true.My bro just bought 87 200D a week ago for 2000 PLN and she runs like a dream.(well, almost as glow plugs relay went down yeasterday).

I'd very strongly advise against one of those.

BS dude, your points apply to Caro and older Polonez but Atu and Plus handles and stops just like any other car.Good thing about the older Poldek is that you can fix it on the road with a piece of wire and stocking.(I have done that).

We're looking for a old relic :D A 124 or 123 mercedes or a old Lada or Shiguli(don't know how it's written) something old, robust, cheap and quite liable.

If you want to come over to Central Poland I can hook you up with some machine.

USA, Canada / American father's son is in Poland, [he's] told to pay child support.... [30]

Very one sided story.F u c k this Canadian, they should teaser motherfuker on Okęcie and send back where he came from.

From the link: "Canadian authorities issued an arrest warrant for Edyta Watkins when she first abducted the boys, but Canada and Poland have no extradition treaty, so her criminal wrongdoing will go unpunished as long as she remains in Poland."

So what?Poland should give away its citizen because some ******* Canadians want her?Forget it.
