Life / Please read this blog about our Poland and post your opinions [5]

Kid, anytime I see 'warrior,' whether it is Jewish Warrior, God's Warrior, or Polish Warrior on forums it is the same personality. A ranter. Good luck with your blog. I hope you appreciate the honesty of my comment that you elicited.

Life / Is parity the answer for Polish women? [262]

80% of teachers in Poland are women; some of them will have to find work in the coal mines to achieve parity. Sorry for the interuption.

History / Recent Lech Walesa interview made by VBS [30]

Also ask him why does he think he is above the law in Poland and his goon can physically assault a cameraman in court in front of the judge, the police, and plenty witnesess with total impunity? Yes, do ask him something relevant.

Watch it first: youtu.be/CCOFbXvhOjU

The goon is the President of The Walesa Institute. WTF is that?

History / Recent Lech Walesa interview made by VBS [30]

It's funny how this nonsense is mostly spouted by those who weren't there.

And you were, English teacher? If fact, the people who he snitched on to the SB were there in the shipyard with him and in his shop, and they have plenty to say. Do you want to hear it? Besides, Walesa threatens anyone who says he was TW Bolek with lawsuits. He goes as far as saying that it is a 'crime to call him an agent.' lol.

The two Polish historians who wrote an exhaustive and well documented book about his agenture are waiting for him to do just that, for a couple years now. He is a pompous, self-important windbag and had he come clean when he had the chance, I think Polish people woul've forgiven him. Instead, his daughter sued a young, bright historian, who wrote about his youth days, on his behalf. How pathetic. Shill on though, it's PF here and it's OK since this forum is mainly for the perplexed foreigners who wonder why all Polish people alternate feet while walking.

I would recommend some material for young Davie, but he first has to learn to at least read Polish. You would too to get some insight.

Here are his co-workers and real heroes for Solidarity.

Life / Poland's population predictions [59]

Looks like Poland better get its act together or it will be in the sh1t in the near future.

The current government is - raising taxes, taking away tax breaks, next year you will work a week more!, and they just won the war on drugs. President Komorowski's chancellery has 80 cars.

News / New budget airport for Warsaw to open in 2012 [16]

I don't fancy the chances of the 5km spur being built to Modlin airport any time soon.

We don't have money for trains and roads because we are building sport stadiums. Give'em games! Just some gee whiz info: In 1938, the Lux Torpeda train took 3 hours from Warsaw to Gdańsk...now only 6 and the Warsaw train station was one of the most modern in Europe. Now, well, you've seen it. :)

UK, Ireland / The more subtle differences: Ireland/Britain v Poland [310]

Poland, is the mother of all Poles, this stems from your socialist past, that still runs deep in the hearts and minds of all poles.

What ran deep in the hearts and minds before socialism, keen observer of Polish people?

...........

Dariusz, you must consider posting here a bad habit, because chat here is clearly way below your level. Your comments are always welcome though. Take good care.

UK, Ireland / The more subtle differences: Ireland/Britain v Poland [310]

You must have noticed that criticising Poland is a game that only Poles can play!

I agree with that, Harry, but that is normal. I could go on and on what is "wrong" with Poland and us Poles but I tend to do it at home and among my Polish friends. When we step out of our circle, we are God's gift to humanity, freedom, tolerance, and beauty. I hope you understand that www is not the place to wash dirty laundry. You do your job and I'll do mine, and sometimes you do a splendid one at that. Try giving us a warm fuzzy sometimes instead of a cold prickly all the time. It is all too easy and boring to look at the negative side of anything. I'll cut the story short to illustrate what I mean: A rabbi walking with his students come across a dead dog. The students see only a stinky, revolting, putrid body, and are gagging outloud, but the rabbi says: But look at the beautiful, strong, white teeth. :)

Life / From UK, finding my feet in Warsaw, Poland. [20]

Welcome! Not that you are being ignored but I, for example, do not have answers to your present questions. One thing I am sure of, you will be buying your clothes back in UK because they are expensive here and the choice is not what you are most likely used to. TK Maxx has just opened a week ago and everyone is disappointed, not with TK Maxx in general, but with the leftovers they have sent to Poland. Maybe the corporate strategy is to keep us shabby looking, but maybe you would like to get that Eastern block look also. :) C'est la mode.

Life / Foreign crap OK, Pułaski not! [14]

I better get back on his good side pronto and raise awareness:

11 October is celebrated in the US as General Casimir Pulaski Memorial Day, commemorating the death anniversary of the Polish officer who contributed greatly to the success of Colonial forces under the leadership of General Washington.

Life / Foreign crap OK, Pułaski not! [14]

I know it. I wear a T-shirt I got at the Shaolin Temple which says DRAGON in Chinese characters, but you will never catch me with one saying SMOK. On second thought, I would wear one if it said SMOK WAWELSKI. So, I'm still cool and proud. :) Got out of that one.

Polonius, hypothetically, if you were to get that tattoo you always wanted on your neck, which would you choose? One written: TIGER, or this one?

They mean the same thing. :)

Law / Best Polish returns on $100,000? [23]

$100,000 will buy you a flat in Warsaw. It will be one room. Just an example. Of course, if you grow weed in that room your investment will be well worth it. PM Harry for further details. :)

History / Stolen Lives, a new controversial UK novel to legitimize Poland's communist goverment [4]

Sounds like a good read, and so do his other books. Not sure what is controversial though. The soldiers who fought the communist invaders and their traitor helpers were heroes indeed and we pay tribute to them, well, some of us anyway. Cześć ich pamięci!

On this forum, I'm one the four people who reads books like these; the rest are hopeless leftists not even aware or indifferent of the sacrifices these fine men and women made for this country.

Travel / Visa to Poland (stay more than 90 days in Poland) [45]

I'm going through this right now.

Clearly, sweetie, you have not read the thread carefully. You are not a Polish citizen and her mom might still be one. I hope you understand the difference.

I would write Jestes moim najlepszym lumpem but I think Seanus's is better.

Kumpel is a buddy, pal, mate, so I hope this is not that killer 'Let's just be friends.' :)

Travel / Visa to Poland (stay more than 90 days in Poland) [45]

Good point, many consulate employees are there because of conections and are not competent. She needs to establish if her mom has Polish citizenship first and then go from there. When she lands in Warsaw and flashes her US passport, they will ask for a Polish document because it clearly says the place of birth. Polish citizens are not supposed to enter the country on a foreign passport. I've had this hassle before.

Travel / Visa to Poland (stay more than 90 days in Poland) [45]

I'm glad to see you find advice from Delph useful but he has no clue since he is neither Polish nor American and has not encountered any of these issues before. The only way to "lose" your Polish citizenship is through the Polish side. If your mother in fact petitioned the Polish gov. to do that, then she is not a Polish citizen. I lived in the States for over thirty years and the only Polish citizens who emmigrated to the US I had known without retaining their Polish citizenship were the ones who petitioned the Polish government for reasons of protest against communist rule. I never understood this form of protest, but that is immaterial in this case. US allows dual citizenship, I have two passports and my daughter even has three.

You need advice from the Polish consulate and not from us, shithouse lawyers.

You must agree that I have a way with making people at ease though. :) It is a rare gift.

She was required to give up her Polish passport when she became a legal US citizen 15 years ago.

Wonder how I and hundreds of thousands of other Poles got around that? I guess we were special cases. Someone I know did give up his Polish citizenship, but entirely of his free will, and not because the US gov required it. They did not.
