TheOther, if the "treatment", as you call it, is justified, then surely. However, as I've been able to follow thus far, folks are saying that Szydło's PiS is trying to destroy the Constitution etc.., practically demonizing her. Somehow, Duda appears to be a fairly centrist sort of fellow who most probably wouldn't allow such extreme violation of civil rights. Having said all that, perhaps the role of the president vs. that of the premier is more sharpely divided than between the US president and his/her Veep.

Or am I missing something here?

Jeszcze ciekawy jestem, czy cała sprawa "Polska jest dyktaturą?" pochodzi z prasy zagraniczniej, czy z prasy krajowego!
Coraz zwykliej jest w terazniejszym czasie czytać czyli słychać takie słowa jak "dyktaturę", "Faszyzm" itd. w gazecie oraz w telewizję. Moim zdaniem jest taka krytyka nieodpowiadalnym dziennikarstwem!

While no time is the only "right" time, it is not a truism that the older we become, naturally the more cluttered our brains get. This merely slows the learning process a bit:-)

I'd say it's never too late to pick up any language after a certain hiatus, Polish no exception! What's your level? Który jest poziom? Are you a beginner, intermediate or advanced?

My Polish is surely no more than maybe beginning advanced, which is not to say I don't still make numerous errors, some typographic, others merely due to negligence:-)

If English is your native language, you'll find Polish challenging, even beginning Polish.

As a fellow native (English) speaker, I cannot entirely concur that "I see the people WHO my parents know." is "odd" at all, quite the contrary!

Then again, British vs. US usage can cause even some of us seasoned observers of language to raise their eyebrows:-)

..and Basic English is (usually) basically awful! Pronunciation etc. is INDEED important, as important as in Polish, French, German or any other language. Leave us not quibble over double standards:-)

Yet in English, one cannot say/write: "Diligent students like every teacher" etc. This is essentially gibberish!! While such word construction or syntax might well be fine in German and Polish, it's unthinkable in English.

Here, I can't entirely agree with you as regards acceptable, that is, idiomatically natural as well as grammatical English word order.

Above all, learn to THINK in the target language!!! Half of all second aka foreign language errors are due to first language interference, i.e. translating from one's mother tongue into whatever language the person in question is trying to acquire:-)

A lot of the problem too is the sheer exposure to the target language required to develop any kind of comfortable fluency.
I just finished watching the movie "Kret" (The Mole) from several years back. I watched without English or even German subtitles. When I found a Polish-caption option, I clicked and began listening to and watching what the actors were saying.

My comprehension increased by leaps and bounds!

"I (can) see the/those people WHOM my parents know." "Who" is colloquial, but not wrong! Rather like "If I were she" vs. "If I was her" The latter's perfectly acceptable in speech, though ungrammatical:-)

I understand now! In my sentence, I confused Polish case structure with English word order and what came out was nonsense!
"Garbage in, garbage out" (Z bzdury będzie bzdura = (Verbal) garbage begets (more) garbage.)

I always learned the above plural distinction as follows:

Widzę TYCH ludzi. (generic people aka men and women colletively!)
Widzę te książki. (books being governed by the feminine, for both female LIVING vs. NON-Living nouns cf. same rule for "książki" as for "kobiety", as they're both feminine!)

"Widzę TYCH ludzi, którZY moje rodzice znają." vs. "Widzę te (+ ANY non-living aka INanimate nouns of EITHER gender, including animals!!)________, którE........"

etc....

Same goes for "dobrE" (for things) vs. "dobrZY" (for people).

Is this correct on my part?
