News / Did you know that Polish army is the weakest in Central Europe?.. [150]

logical consequence of harsh lessons that we took from history..

Somehow I doubt you personally learned anything at all (compared to your government).

Poland can only be safe in a strong alliance with it's neighbours...the biggest military will only further your total destruction should your diplomacy and your ally-chosing malfunction again.

The strongest military isn't a viable option when you border potential bigger, meaner enemies....being part of the EU and the NATO was a much wiser choice!

PS: That holds true for all continental european countries...I would only take out of this the UK because of their insular location and Russia, who really has to fear nobody and doesn't need an ally at all.

History / Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia, Serbia- segmented. Who is next? Poland? [90]

Initiate creation of Slavic (Sarmatian) Confederation. Then, suggest Warsaw as capital and Polish language as official. Serbs would support everything

Yeah Torqi...do it! Got anything else to do...say...Monday....between 8 and 10 am? ;)

History / The Gustloff - one of the worst maritime disasters that seemed to never have happened [66]

I'm not sure about that too Sokrates...

individual.utoronto.ca/jarekg/Ravensbruck/LastDays.html

...(30 April), the Russian army arrived. Rather than being liberators, they put the French women through a more hellish ordeal than what they had experienced in the camp. The women were raped repeatedly by Russian troops, to the point where some of them were too weakened to continue their journey.

That's more like the common narrative of that time...

"traitors"? For speaking german?
Seanie, you are hanging around the Crow to much....it's not good for you!

Oh and the movement from german Silesians was definitely onesided to the West during the last decades (our Mannschaft profiting greatly from it heh:)) and I too can't be arsed to pack my bags and board the next train to Breslau....it's in good hands as it is.

Life / I'm from Polish descent. CAN YOU GUYS EXPLAIN THE EU TO ME? [115]

Anyways, I don't think too many non-Europeans would be a great idea for Poland.

Well, then you should clarify in your postings that you mean non-Europeans, everything else looks just funny.

Maybe the EU could have a more efficient immigration law in action already if she still weren't so splitted with so many countries eager to still keep cooking their own little soups and afraid and anxious to regulate more policies more commonly in Brussels.

You can't have it both ways!

Life / I'm from Polish descent. CAN YOU GUYS EXPLAIN THE EU TO ME? [115]

The EU apparatus pretends at times to be a country, at other times not.

Well, she isn't, she can't and she don't!

The EU has an unelected President - van Rompuy - chosen by France and Germany and a hopeless Foreign Minister - Catherine Ashton - who, unlike Rumpy (ex-PM of Belgium), has never been elected by anyone, anywhere.

They were elected in the same way as many member states (like Germany for example) choose their presidents too.

There are no EU parties

You've got to be kidding!
The european Parliament is full of them!

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_political_party

Inform yourself BEFORE you post please!

The Constitution was rejected in democratic votes by Holland, France and Ireland and therefore entered into force.

Last time I looked it was democratically accepted....

/wiki/Treaty_of_Lisbon#Ratification

All EU member states had to ratify the Treaty before it could enter into law.A national ratification was completed and registered when the instruments of ratification were lodged with the government of Italy. The month following the deposition of the last national ratification saw the Treaty enter into force across the EU.

Under the original timetable set by the German Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2007, the Treaty was scheduled to be fully ratified by the end of 2008, thus entering into force on 1 January 2009.

Well, as long as the majority get's to decide and you don't share the opinion of the majority you might as well speak of a "tyranny" but it's the best way of government we found to date.

I wonder if you might even less like a REALLY undemocratic...say....King....of Europe who wouldn't even need a treaty!

What we have is by no means perfect...but it's the best we ever had and we all profit from it.
Don't take it for granted! The alternatives would bring nothing better to Europe...

Some interesting reminder to dispell the notion that the EU is something Marsian some Aliens imposed on the poor, unsuspecting Poles...undemocratically!

Poles have voted to join the European Union by a large margin, according to preliminary results from this weekend's referendum.

About 77.5% have said yes to the EU, with a turnout of around 59%, according to initial results.

At least 50% turnout was needed for the referendum to be valid.

Life / I'm from Polish descent. CAN YOU GUYS EXPLAIN THE EU TO ME? [115]

The basic problem with the EU is that the whole project is being carried out without regard to democratic principles. Any votes against a pro-centrism move is ignored.

How so? Show me a country with a majority against the membership? Everything, from the membership, to the Euro (if adopted) to the European Parliament is strictly about democratic principles...yes, to become eligible to be a member you need to adhere to strict democratic and human rights rules!

Final goal: United States of Europe

Hopefully!
Our only chance Europe will keep to matter in the coming decades of the huge asian and american powerblocs (not only the US anylonger).
Splintered as Europe is now we will cease to be a global player....everybody of us alone is nothing!

Means:
Communication policy:
Control:

The rest is just opinion, no facts..the specialty of the nay-sayers!

And then?

Whom will you ask for money and help next? Or protest against...or go on strike against....Back to a country of illiterate goat farmers? Your choice...the EU doesn't need Greece, you are barely accounting for 0,8 percent of our GDP!

History / The Gustloff - one of the worst maritime disasters that seemed to never have happened [66]

A simple truth, if you trigger political mechanisms you can and will suffer a backlash, Poland did with Ukraine, you did with Russia et cetera.

But that wasn't the topic....just a reminder about a sad catastrophe. No "they deserved it" needed, thank you.

Thats not to say it was OK to do it to German civilians but for Christs sake what did you expect after all that Germans did in Russia, flowers?

I'm not so sure about all this anymore....I accept everything there is about the the Jews, they really were pegged to be annihilatied, but I start to doubt the rest if I'm honest.

There were war crimes and atrocities, no doubt, lots of collateral damage too...but there were never these kind of mass rapes by the Germans, but there was the destruction order by Stalin to kill everything and destroy anything miles around the german army, there were the russian partisans who killed their own peasants ...there was the propaganda war, there was all these massacres which were pinned later all to the Germans because they lost the war and couldn't defend themselves anymore....who knows how much of all this was true.

Stalins Russia was a cess pit..I really doubt the Germans had been worse!

Busy like bloody hell, by the way i'll have a nice publication about Kraków for you when i get back home :)

You do realise those children wouldnt die if you didnt let Nazis run amock? While i do not endorse killing of civilians what did you expect?

This is not about "you did it"..."no you did it first", Sok!

you're lucky geopolitics kept your people from getting wiped out completely.

Crap Sokrates..."wiping out" Germany was impossible...not much more but a fantasy but realistically not accomplishable. Nothing to do with luck!

And again, if it was only about revenge then how come the red army mass raped their way also through Poland, the Baltics, Hungaria, the concentration camps they just liberated etc...

Oh and Welcome back! ;)
