Polonia / SHIPPING HOUSE CONTENTS: from Poland to Moscow. Suggest a company? [17]

I am not too worried about getting rid of the van in Moscow once it has served its purpose , its not a problem to sell something like a Mercedes sprinter van over there...Unlike Poland its no problem to register a vehicle that has the steering wheel on the wrong side...Russians love Merc vans , and i could get back what i paid for it just selling it for spares...

I will check out what it costs for a Russian removal firm to do the job , but i don,t expect it to be cheaper than a Polish firm , yes Russia has low wages etc , but Moscow is not the same as Russia , its like another country , its the most expensive city in the world to live in , and wages are higher there than anywhere else in Russia... The Russians have a saying...there is no life outside Moscow... Wages , the cost of living etc in Moscow bears no resemblance to life anywhere else in Russia....

I planned on paying about 1500 quid for a Mercedes van in the UK , and i am not too worried about making a profit on it when i sell it , i might even keep it for when we move out of the appartment in Moscow to our house in the country , or use it for making some dosh moving stuff for people...

Even if i get my stuff shipped by a removals firm , i may still buy the van , i have a Harley to get to Moscow , and i am not trusting anyone with that....

Polonia / SHIPPING HOUSE CONTENTS: from Poland to Moscow. Suggest a company? [17]

I am not sure if this is in the correct section , but no doubt it will get shifted if its not...

I need to move my stuff from Poland to Moscow....

There is no furniture , just lots of stuff in cartons.... I was planning on flying to the UK and buying a big van for all this stuff , but my girlfriend suggested it may be cheaper to put all the stuff in a container , or have a removals firm take all the stuff for me....

Can anyone suggest a company that can move stuff from Poland to Moscow.....?

I am in the Polczyn zdroj area of Zachodniopomorskie , the stuff is going to north central Moscow...

UK, Ireland / Are Poles in UK really that big of a deal? [112]

What the UK needs to do is...

throw out all the rubbish people...whatever colour they are....

and yes that includes the white English people who were born there and have never done a days work in their life...

Love / I need advice: divorce and my rights as a father in Poland [165]

No wonder the ladies standing in the lay by,s on the forest edge are so popular...

You have all the advantages of a Polish wife , and you don,t have to give them your house and all your money....

Life / Observation of Polish drivers, by and English anthropologist. [94]

There is certain breed of Pole (and not an uncommon breed either) which seems to relish the flaunting of rules of both courtesy and safety.

I reckon its due to Polish history...

They had the Germans telling them what to do for a number of years , then after this the Russians...

I think Poles have a natural dislike of rules and try to bend or break them as much as possible....

Law / Healthcare for British Citizens living in Poland [30]

Not bad going I am 60 this year

You old fart.... you are three years older than me....

I can still ride from dawn to dusk non stop , i reckon it keeps you young you know....

My uncle was still riding , and winning ballroom dancing competitions when he was 82....he seemed to age instantly when his wife finally made him give up the bike....

another would be that to widen most roads would involve cutting down trees. and that is something Poles are alergic to

there seems to be quite a few trees going for the chop around my way....

but i guess thats progress...the roads are so narrow here that two trucks passing each other have to both go onto the grass verge , and risk hitting the trees or each other....

its sad to see healthy trees cut down though...

Life / How do Polish people see homosexuality? [152]

How do Polish people see homosexuality?

They don,t...

A lot of them will tell you there are not any gays in Poland...which of course is not true....

Read/heard somewhere that it had to do with knights passing on the road (it's easier to attack and/or defend yourself from the left side if you're right-handed).

When you mount a horse , you always mount from the left side of the horse this is due to your sword being on the left side of your body , and avoids having to drag your long sword over the horses back....

Funny enough you mount a motorcycle from the same side....

Hang on a moment...they had knights in Poland and other parts of Europe too....how come they do it the opposite way....? They can,t all have been left handed...!

Do they really have to take the damn thing to the local supermarket? Leave it on the field where it belongs...

I think the fuel they put in their tractor costs much less than the fuel they put in their car , due to subsidies....

So if they need to go a short distance what are they going to use... the old Ursus of course...!

Food / Polish grape-wine industry emerging? [26]

I had a great grape vine growing up the side of my barn , it produced very sweet tasty purple grapes...

Unfortunatly , the last winter storm brought the old barn down and squashed the vine...

the grapes that were taken from the vine at the end of last summer are now fermenting at my friends farm and should result in some nice vino...

I never got around to making wine myself , i just ate the grapes...
