Life / Uptight Poles [262]

But Latin Europeans like Italians are very uptight. Italians are always angry & uptight about everything.

Obviously you had bad experiences. Italians are really cool and laid back. Never had the impression they would be uptight. Look at their fashion, cars, design...hardly possible if you have a Stock im Arsssch.. ;)

Regarding polish people i can only say that i liked my time there and that even though we lost track a little bit, my old friends still contact me and i had only nice experiences.

Are there any local differences in Poland regarding being 'laid back', north-south difference? i never noticed that. Is it like that?

History / Why did Russia attack Poland in WW2? [178]

Problem was we fighted all at the same time...GB/France declared a world war because of you, if they hadn't done that you would speak German by now! (And the other half Russian probably).
Think about that when you whine and moan about GB or France again...

The most stupid decision in ww2 was when the austrian idiot ordered operation barbarossa. from then on just downhill.

Germans had way better telecommunications in tanks(Soviets did not even have radiofrequencies) and much better tactics.Germans had also better assault rifles and machine guns.

Useless all those inventions if the deciding person has a complex and doesn't think rational.

All in total many of those inventions in ww2 we still can see in some rudiments nowadays in weapon technology.

Why did Russia attack Poland in WW2?

...to get rid of the Krautfresser. ;)

Life / Injection Moulding in Poland [21]

Bikerjenko/(Colin?)

Why don't you just contact one of the biggest molding companies in the world. They will for sure have an office in Poland, like ALCOA, Bericap etc.

If you cannot achieve there anything, ask around at some bottler and try to get connected to the cap supplier, if that's it what you want.

Life / Uptight Poles [262]

We have to conclude that there are tense and loose aspects to virtually every culture.

Generally i agree with you, but i travelled quite a lot and f.e. the more south in europe you go, the more loose the folks are. Logic to me. Sun. Valencia has 300!!! days of the year as 'sunny days'. How can you be uptight.

It's not only climate, but also, more of course culture what puts you uptight.

Life / Uptight Poles [262]

Mediteraneans are way more relaxed than westerners and Slavs.Just visit a cafe in Greece or Italy and one in Germany

Agreed. German Cafe looks more like Kasernenhof...everything in order. Jawoll!

I think it all comes down to set and setting as Timothy Leary famously once said.

T-man, what a life in the name of science... ;)

To me both Latin countries & Germanic countries are far more uptight than both Slavic & Celtic Nations.

Latin uptight? Where have you been? Go to a tango bar and then tell me your impressions. ;)

This is good.Slavs are reversed and do not annoy you.

They simply now their place in life. Shows self awareness. ;)

The westerners are in your face because they want their presence to be noticed. Here you learn to be quiet.

Typical 'conquerer' behavior, subconciously. Very annoying.

I think there is a point in that. Stalin and Hitler had similar aspirations in deviding Europe for their purposes.

News / Will many Poles migrate to Germany in May 2011 (after opening labor market)? [157]

They should drive Russian cars....nobody will steal them....

Yeah, typical gimmiks are missing. ;)

Many Germans speak English , so it might not be as tricky as you think....

Everybody loves US. ;)
Go to a Post office somewhere in Germany and try your luck. Even better, try the Deutsche Bahn. ;)

I think only in multinational company.

Most probably.

lot of cars stolen in Germany wind up in Poland

Not only there. The linusines usually wind up in Russia or Ukraine. The rest is spread all over Europe and the last trend I heard was Africa...for the landlords there. ;)

The UK had at one time a terrible problem with car crime , where i lived in Yorkshire was i think the worst area of the UK...

Can have sth to do with jobless young people, gangs, whatever...usually done by jobless or without perspective. It's fast and easy money.

helicopter support they soon started catching

Sounds like a real hunt to me...

I was just referring to your comment/joke about Poles and cartheft, 'cause I witnessed that in the 90's and thought that is over...Obviously Germans should start to drive some other brands. ;)

Wildrover, you seem to be a quite reasonable man.
I'll give you an example: I worked for a couple of years many projects in Poland and frequently we used a car. One day my collegue and I got what they call it a 'polish wheel change'. So I experienced sth similar myself, but come on how many car "crimes" are done over in UK by people with certain nationalities? Any jokes or not jokes available? ;)

See ...

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gastarbeiter

Nice work stupid. Didn't know that you have google under your stone. ;)

Like always tiny details are not that important, but once you evolve you'll understand that. It is more the broader picture which counts.

mentioning Turks

They are an important detail in this topic and of course the prejudices.

But only one went for a job...the other one is nicking a BMW

Are those jokes ever getting out of fashion...?

People should just leave stereotypes out and let themselves get close to another, like normal human beings.

That's correct, if you have the potential to accept or maybe tolerate/like/love someone, but in Germany that is still not the fact. Especially now with the crisis going by and Germany consolidated there is no reason for tolerance.

The recent success of the green party was not based on that issue but more on the hype/fear of nuclear energy.

That what in the 70's started with the 1st Gastarbeiter was quite successful, but globalism, changes in society and of course media presence changed that completely.

Now Germany is on the 1st place tolerant to itself. ;)

2-3 millions Turks in Germany

Silent force. ;)

UK, Ireland / Immgration to UK. A success? [114]

Generally I noticed that Americans work longer hours than Europeans but not as tense.

That US company I worked for i visited their headquarters in US and it was like of the actual presence at work we had more than 50% meetings, talking and talking, but the productivety was close to zero.

I mean, all those managers have to justified. ;)

Who says that Poles are inferior to people from the UK?

Try to put my comment on a more abstract level. I know that you can do it. ;)

On a human level I completely agree with you, but that was not the point. Think. ;)

UK, Ireland / Immgration to UK. A success? [114]

according to them the crisis in UK is created by Polish . What a lousy approach to inform people that their problems are not their own fault but a foult of some other nation .

That is probably just an example. They picked randomly Poles, but in total of course the foreigners are guilty, for whatever. That is in sink with the new strategy declaring the mulicultural society failed like Cam announced.

It is maybe just propaganda, but has its effects.

In exactly the same way as Polish newspapers and some Poles are bigoted and backwards and spread false information about other European people.

Hardly if you are in an inferior position like Poles in comparison to UK.

The colored immigrants are responsible in a large degree for the crisis but noone will admit that because they cover other incompetencies.

Besides the 'color', probably true.

yeah because all the coloured inmigrants work in the financial sector which caused the crisis hahaha f*cking ignorant

Maybe 1/1000 of them what would mean a big success. The rest is low ranking work labor; resaturants, hotels, cleaning/housekeeping etc.

Life / How could things have gone so wrong (Poland church dress code) [195]

but if you do - pay respect and dress properly.
Content express itself also in Form.

Faith doesn't need a dress code. Simple as that. If the faith says it specifically o.k., then you should comply, but the rest is just 'constuction'. Dictate. Nothing else. It doesn't have to do anything with the faith.

church

That means the building, institution???

she was not dressed appropriately for church, for a disco yes, but for a church no

As far as I recall Jesus said somewhere that in front of him and god EVERYBODY is equal. I'm sure that he gave a fukkkk what the people's clothing were like.

That dress code is like seanus meantioned only an "add-on" and unncecessary

Who should win?

It's not about a battle I thought. Everyone is equal, at least in the eye of god (?) and wardrobe is not an issue.

When I see beautiful legs in front of me, I am getting confused and disoriented. It ruins the whole purpose of being in the Church

Why? Church is the place of love, sharing etc.. ;)

weak and pathetic. We need clear minds at least in one place.

Do we really, if we are 'pathetic and weak'? ;)

I'll go to the church tomorrow and enquire as to the dress code

Good luck. ;)

What confidence are we to have in people who, statistically speaking, are 95% Catholic but only between 55-60% practise?

Faith is a strict personal thing imo. Who goes to church, o.k., he needs the institutions and the faith. No pro.

Sb, please point me to an official source.

There is NONE.

It is like smoking in the bars: it was Ok ten years ago and now it is all of a sudden forbidden. Why? Because will and safety of the majority is taken into consideration.

No a lucky comparison, 'cause we both know it's strictly political driven. Almost no rationalism in that.

you shouldn`t belch at the table

In Asia that's a must, otherwise the host is insulted that you didn't like his meal.

You shouldn`t wear shorts to church

Why? Who's "ordering" that bs? The faith?

smell your armpits in public

Hygiene issue.

Because you make other people feel uneasy.

Did you ask them?

Who are we as members of a society if we don't question the rationale of decisions made on our behalf?

Just stupid cattle and I refuse that role.

There is a code at Israeli checkpoints. Does that mean the code is right?

Know that, but my point was about contructed, prepared situations like business meetings and how those issues are treated elsewhere...

Life / How could things have gone so wrong (Poland church dress code) [195]

it's not about pretty-ugly or cheap-expensive

That was just an example.

what's appropriate and what's not

Who is deciding that? Society? Customs? Conformism?

This stupid 'code' is probably standable as long as it's not caricaturating itself.

i see more wrongs when young women

Who is deciding that? Wrong? Right? Happen to see one of the "Jesus" movies over the easter holidays? What were his followers waering?

The focus is completely wrong. It's not about what you wear when you go to church than THAT you go to church for whatever reasons. You adress the faith NOT the institution and its forms.

it's called a dress code... and it's used everywhere...

...and it's most of the time stupid. Read my comment #12.

i'm surprised that many people would wear everywhere just about anything... or nothing maybe...

That's probably not true and if they are not dressed as it is 'supposed to be' it has sometimes to do with that they maybe cannot afford sth nicer, better...

Tell me, who is directly harmed from shorts?

Nobody directly, but if they reveal ugly legs....the eyes maybe...just jokin'. ;)

They need to change the tune, and fast!

Yap.
That so called 'dress code' for official buildings/companies etc. AND church is just to let you make feel their authority(over what??) and your inferiority(because of what). That's to me full bs. If that 'code' is for sth on equal level, ok., otherwise scrap it.

During one of my business trips to Israel i met the 2nd richest man in food production in one of his facilities...it was summer...they guy himself opened and received us in sandals, short and t-shirt with spots of tomato juice... ;) We were of course dressed like Communion student. ;)

She, as can be predicted, didnt receive the same reception as myself.

Totally universal problem. You'll run into it everywhere when you go in a church in a small town or village. In metropoles unlikely to happen. People less visit churches and anonimity is helping. :)

News / Poland ready to receive Libyan refugees [159]

It was their free choice to migrate to Lybia as these "durty" jobs paid better than in their own countries.

Of course. I never denied that.

NATO saved the lives of many Lybians because it prevented Khadaffi from slaughtering many of his own people.

Who told you that bs or where did you get that info. Maybe you should adjust your TV away from CNN, BBC etc.

It sounds like Europe gets punished for saving Lybian lives.

Truely spoken like a 'blinded' man. If you start sth like this, you better think it through to the end and be aware of the consequences. All other talk is just pathetic and not worth a comment.

In the end, this war in Lybia is driven by ego and local power struggles with almost no coordination.
