News / Predicitng Poland's parliamentary election, 2011? [12]

There is already an existing thread on this already, and i have made my prediction, which in the light of recent events seems to be a ted too optimistic. However if a second go is allowed, these are my predictions:

If it is a sunny day.
PO: 38%
PIS:29%
SLD: 10%
PSL: 7%
Ruch Palikota: 6%

If it is a rainy day.
PO: 36%
PIS:31%
SLD: 11%
PSL: 7%
Ruch Palikota: 5%

I find that one quite funny, is this for a Krakow candidate?

Polish former foreign ministers write joint letter condemning statements made by Kaczynski regarding Angele Merkel.

Insinuations against the reasons for the selection of leaders , which is an important partner in the European Union , j are harmful to Polish - write foreign ministers in protest against the statements by Jaroslaw Kaczynski.

PIS candidate has been found out in falsely manipulating newspaper headlines in his election ad.

You can close your eyes to reality , but you can not close our eyes to the truth - says Wroclaw PiS candidate for deputy Jacek World in their electoral spots . In the same spots where permitted lies.

There is also one about a PIS candidate who is an admirer of Lukashanko.

All the good ones clearly flock to PIS, funny that.

yes I am - PKW has recently proven its malevolence - see casus KNP Kongres Nowej Prawicy and in the case of Marek Król and Joanna Kalata Senate candidates

How is life in your other parallel universe(:

you don't live in Poland but quite a few "PiS supporters" are here on this forum, so which are idiots ? Which are fanatics ? Tell us please.

I think that you have answered your own question by the following observation that you have made:

At least since the last Presidential elections. Actually, no one really want to win these elections that much... I won't be surprised If there will be big problems to set up any coalition...

Based on your observation which one of the above would you classify yourself as?

Life / Are Polish people so chaotic and disorganized like Germans say? [89]

when Polish Lithuanian Commonwealth was a rural hellhole struck by poverty

In the 15th to 16th centuries the Commonwealth was doing very well for itself, and it was Germany that was a hellhole stuck in poverty, and home to religious bigotry, witch burning, and extreme administrative disorganization(:

lets hope so. I will try my best to vote him out this coming Sunday- however, that might not be enough;(

Please do, and try to persuade as many people as possible.

because he is a pure reflection of his voters.

Sadly I think that you are right, I guess that's what it comes down to.

Even though he is not the Polish patriot as he claims to be, he is a power hungry arrogant politician with a chip on his shoulder who pretends to care for Polish people and strangely enough there is a a big enough group who believes in his lies.

A very good summary, and I suppose as you put it 'someone else would", but why does he have to be so odious! The man is just beyond parody. If Kaczynski can be PM, well then anybody can be. What do people see in him he has 0 talent, is not telegenic, has a track record of the most incredible dishonesty, and he comes across as very unsympathetic and aggressive.

only 5 more days:)

Cannot come soon enough! I can't wait till this man is thrown into the rubbish bin of history.

Why would he ask that question when he perfectly understands he works for Polish tv? There is no twisting going on, this is all based on the quotes that have come from his book, and his interview with Newsweek (they use his very own words).

The problem with Kaczynski is that he is such a pathological liar that he can't string together a whole sentence without contradicting himself. He should now have the courage of telling the Polish public exactly what he meant, and what his sources were. I can't believe how this stupid cretin Kaczynski, is once again jeopardising Poland's budget negotiations by coming up what is all probability are unsubstantiated lies about Poland biggest economic partner. Of course he will never explain himself because as we have found out in this campaign he is COWARD, who avoids public scrutiny and debate at every opportunity.

I wish that the majority of Poles would wake up to Kaczynski's lies. The man has a track record of deceit in this campaign, and unfortunately the media is letting him off far to lightly. How many court processes has he lost in this campaign so far?

Latest news. Looks like Kaczynski has truly lost is, he is accusing Angela Merkel of collaborating with the Stazi, whilst refusing to go into details when pressed by the media for further details, whilst calling journalists who ask him uncomfortable questions of being Germans. God forbid Kaczynkis ever gets into government again.

History / 1920 Battle of Warsaw - English trailer and film [55]

Jerzy Hoffman is a good director

He is also an old director who probably wanted to make one last big hit+money spinner before he was out of the game for good. He might have taken a bit of a blase attitude to the whole thing without giving it the serious attention that it deserved. He probably thought "of course Warsaw 1920 , i can't believe nobody has made a movie about it yet! I'd better get there first before Wajda does"(:

A hilarious advert by Ruch Palikota at 18:44. I must say it crosses some boundaries but it is very funny(:

indebting the nation on a massive scale, serious success propaganda)

I take it that you haven't looked at the total amount of money that PIS election promises add up to, very silly.

It's not hate, I believe that people who vote for PIS are either stupid and don't understand politics, they want a return to the old socialist past and the something for nothing culture, or they they are mentally ill.

I must say a very surprising point of view given some of your previous posts, but welcome nonetheless. Of course this is a view that is completely at odds with PIS

And my best case scenario for PIS still holds, which means there is no way that PIS will form the next government.

News / Poland Parliament elections in October 2011 [944]

yes? divulge please or just explain

It's very simple arithmetic. I will do this from the best case scenario for PIS ( in other words from the point of view of a mentally ill person)

PIS: 34%
PO: 29%
SLD: 9%
Palikot: 7%
PSL: 5%

= a PO/Palikot/SLD possibly PSL coalition which= more socially progressive legislation such as the recognition of civil partnerships etc. (which I know that you and you bigoted PIS supporters very much approve of)

someone who abandons pursuing Polish interests internationally because 'Poland is an ugly maid' is a traitor to a significant extent

You are a zero in comparison to Bartoszewski, and the 21st century's answer to Targowica.

And you can't count, very apt for a PIS supporter. But I don't mind a PO/SLD or Palikot coalition, Poland will move forward on social issues, such as recognition of civil partnerships etc, and by voting for PIS you are only going to make this more likely.

News / Poland Parliament elections in October 2011 [944]

You are seriously deluded! Do you honestly believe that the people intending to vote for Palikot will vote for PIS!!!!????

"another couple of years of PO now with Ruch Palikota - well it just makes PO missing in action in the next shuffle (in 3 years max?) - can Palikot take the PO electorate then completely - no way[/quote]"

I see so you are willing to cut off you nose just to spite your face, so according to your twisted logic it's PIS and not Poland that comes first.

like someone who once fought for Poland couldn't become a traitor - for me he has become one and just added insult to the injury with his speak against PiS

honestly how dare you? you are an absolute zero in comparison.

Are you sure you are Polish?

News / Poland Parliament elections in October 2011 [944]

it was well before Kaczyński ever thought of embracing 'kibole' - it is a very recent thing - while Baroszewski said what he said during the 2007 parliamentary campaing - many PO supporters are very fond of 'Pisowskie bydło' untill today as you can see from internet comments

You do know that he isn't even a PO member don't you? Yes he supports PO out of conviction, but he is not a member. I am surprised that would question the judgment of an individual who fought the nazis and the communists, very odd. Have you ever considered what prompted those comments? What if I were to tell you that when he was laying flowers on the tombs of those who died, and by whose side he fought in the Warsaw Rising, he was jeered and abused by PIS supporters and called a traitor, how does that make you feel as a PIS supporter proud?

So what do you want it to be, a Palikot/PO government or a PO government?

And as a side note a very moving radio address by Tusk to all Poles, love the background music, very moving.

Well I find Bartoszewski's observation very apt, how else would you describe the PIS supporting Kioble?

Regarding Sikorski, he was obviously speaking metaphorically, plenty of politicians use military terminology-especially during campaign time, and it wasn't specifically addressed to PIS people-I suspect you know that.

As for Palikot, if you don't want him to form the next government with PO-as the polls indicate will be likely, then may I suggest you lend your support to PO so they don't have to rely on Palikot? Have you ever thought about that? What will be better a PO/Palikot led government, or a PO government? You know very well the PIS will not form the next government, even if they the win the majority of the vote (which will never happen)

It's your choice.

What specifically was so terrible about it?

You are taking one incident perpetrated by a madman and somehow equating it to the behaviour of thousands of PIS supporters who behave like that on a consistent basis. Sorry I fail to see your point. And incidentally what you think happened that provoked the reaction of the person in question? Was it Kaczynski's language of love and unity by any chance?

Good i hope they keep on playing it a million times before the election comes to convince those that were hesitating to get out and vote.

It is the politics of Hope VS the politics of hate and fear. I know which side of the ledger I stand on(:

(English : it's a video showing football hooligans and the "Defenders of the Cross" using violence - and reminding voters that those people will vote - in essence, linking PiS to violence, which is true anyway)

It's brilliant!!!!!! is this going tot be shown on mainstream TV?

At the end of the day, we're going to laugh in your face repeatedly next Sunday/Monday after PiS loses yet again. I look forward to watching Kaczynski's humiliating resignation.

Can't wait(:

Life / Expats/Immigrants in Poland: Needy, Greedy or contributor. Which one are you? [118]

I'm just about to start a campaign for access to sport for all after discovering just how utterly dreadful the provision is in Poland for young people who want to get involved with sport.

I think that is a brilliant idea. One of the tings that I noticed on my visit to Poland, was that next to all these schools there was no recreational facilities. I know that the government has been running quite a successful Orlik program, though I am not sure that is enough. What about other facilities like swimming pools and the like.

Out of pure curiosity: will the thread be closed on Saturday and Sunday to conform to pre-vote election silence rule?

Screw that, I hate that rule. :(

I reserve my right to abuse PIS at whatever time i feel like it(:
