News / The best Poland ever? [125]

30 millions Germans in Poland...hmmm...interesting idea! :)

But leave your tanks at home when you come and visit again. btw there are lots of confused Polish-Germans still living there.

Just for example my childhood buddy Mr. Szmidt was convinced that his last name was of Slavic origin. He would argue with me about it passionately for hours. Now that i think about it he reminds me of Crow a little. I guess it depends where you grow up then it could be slavic.

UK, Ireland / Do Poles and EU Citizens exploit the British welfare state [129]

You’ve asked Poland to join the EU and then opened your borders, and then created generous welfare system and then hiss, b1tch and whine and about it, that makes perfect sense to everyone observing this from a distance.

News / The best Poland ever? [125]

Yeah...sorry I forgot to mention numbers from over 100 years back as the discussion was about today! :(

There are 51 million Germans in teh US RIGHT NOW, or 17% of the U.S. population. Hmmm I’m wondering... 81 million in Germany and 51 million here. It doesn't look like mass immigration at all.

Edit:

I think you guys should ship remaining 30 mill to GB and Poland and call it even. :)

News / The best Poland ever? [125]

Okay...Germans don't emigrate in masses as Poles do but mainly because it's still a good life to have in Germany and somewhere else the grass is not that much greener! ;)

"5 million Germans immigrated to the United States with a peak in the years between 1881 and 1885"
But i give you this, you have an ability to turn things around for better for yourself quickly.

News / Poland's Lost Generation [172]

Ok so now we are getting to the root of your anger about PL, your Jewish.

Yup definitely, I’m 6'4" blue eyed blonde hair catholic Jew, with a family of Jews who spent their better years working in steel plants and coal mines of Silesia.

In search of better opportunities, and because it is easier than staying in PL.

You're insane.

I have heard this cry for years, that was then and this is now

Let me quote myself again:

"You sound like one of those communistic party psychos pretending that there is nothing wrong with the picture while ignoring all the fax around you."

Enough already.

Oh come on let me hear you say it. Szuflandia? Szuflandia? Szuflandia!

News / Poland's Lost Generation [172]

many of the North Americans of Polish origin (not all) on PF, seem to desire to promote a dark side of PL

Someday, I'm hoping to close my eyes and pretend like you that there is noting wrong with Poland.

Remember, those who forget history are bound to repeat it and that's what scares me about you. You sound like one of those communistic party psychos pretending that there is nothing wrong with the picture while ignoring all the fax around you.

Why do you think everyone left and continues on leaving?

My family had to bend over and take it for generations in Poland. Some of them stayed there like you and continue on living in that "hidden gem" and suffer now because they're afraid to step out and take the bull by the horns.

I talk to my family on weekly basis so stop patronizing me like I got no clue what's going on there.

I've lived through more in my life than you can even imagine dadio. I don't think you're ready yet to be exposed to life outside of szuflandia.

UK, Ireland / Do Poles and EU Citizens exploit the British welfare state [129]

California had to create a law so that people who collect welfare to buy food and clothes can no longer use their free money on things like psychics, massages, cruise ships, casinos, etc. because that's what they were doing.

Point being is that Californian government noticed the abuse and you've changed the law. If you're still missing the point please re-read my original post ...

GB should do the same, if they feel that their unemployment benefit system is being abused.

To all you Polish in GB:
you jumped in a wishing well, now I wish you well
tell 'em to kiss your ass, call it kiss and tell

Havok- Be good and if you can't be good, get smart.

The opposite of love is not hate - it’s apathy. It’s not giving a damn.

Warszawski, you don't get the picture unless the flash is on. I trained myself to let go of everything I feared to lose. The world is changing and you need to catch up.

Polish have a right to be in GB and collect unemployment benefits. It’s the law over there. If the law is being abused or compromised for some reason, the government should take some kind of corrective actions.

I’m guessing that either you guys vote for the wrong people or the issue is not really high on your Government’s priority list.

There's a substantial difference between illegals here and Polish in GB... So please don’t compare Polish in GB to illegal immigrants in the US!

You however are living in a land stolen from a people

Well, I don't know about you but I currently live in a land pouted by British Petroleum.

I think there is a big difference between Mexicans in the US and Polish in GB. Polish have a right to be there as far as the law is concerned. Many Mexicans come here illegally.

When are gonna stop feeling sorry for yourself and dragging Poland down?
The fact that you even dream of only a 'crappy' business, speaks a lot about you.

I don't detect any sadness in my post so I'm a little confused by your reply. Whatever dude, go fock a goat too.

I wish you the same peace when you get to my age.

Don't get me wrong I whish you well too, but you need to pull your head out of your as$ and notice all the opportunities waiting out there for a better life. All you need is to think outside the box.

Ok how old are you? Was I right about your age?

cut the personal stuff

But the economic war is no better

Adam, since you like Gandhi so much you should consider moving to India.

Well you need to guess again.

Thank you for the psychoanalysis there Bud, but you got the wrong guy.

I would like to assure you that my memories of Poland are crisp and people here don't realize I’m Polish unless I tell them.

Just because you went back to PL and pretend to be a happy consultant there doesn't make you an expert in anything.

Let me assure you I have done a lot to help and assist many Polish families, I am very far away from being poor, I know exactly the place I am in life and what I stand for. I certainly am not close minded.

Maybe you are or maybe you're not. I hope you don't feed this nonsense to all the families that you claim to be helping because all THEY want is a peaceful life with a nice house, a garden, and a car.

@ warszawski

What do you want from us?

Your generation has done nothing for us and continues on doing noting. You’re poor, lost and close-minded.

Just let it go.

I have done exactly the opposite to what people like you have been advising and i concluded that most of you back there have no focken clue about anything and you’re just trying to drag us down with you.

Now that there are so many of successful young Polish people, you want us to come back? Are you focking kidding me?

Tell you what, $200K is what I paid for my first house at age 24 and I earned that money on my own. Why would I re-invest it in some crappy business in Poland? And do what? Work my as$ off for YOUR retirement and hope to buy an apartment one day?

History / Why did communism in Poland fail? [180]

Don't kid yourself. The Chinese people have made a pact with the devil. They will put up with the Communist nonsense (censorship, one-party rule, etc) as long as the Party keeps all engines burning. When that stops, all bets are off!

you're probably right.

I really wish them well but i would not want to live there.

History / Why did communism in Poland fail? [180]

In your post you've mentioned the economic aspects of communism which caused the system to fail. I would agree with you and also I would like to expand on that. (skipping the politics of it because it's boring)

Communism was Marx and Engels's stab at social utopia for all. Let me remind you that both of them were well-off entrepreneurs and highly educated Germans, who apparently were fascinated with poor conditions of working class in England...

Like with everything else out there, the idea of Communism was somewhat noble but the execution was terrible and it turned into a nightmare as we all know it.

Why did communism fall?

In my opinion, Marx and Engels did not take into account what Adam Smith did. "An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations."

Greed and competitive nature of the human race can effectively and quickly generate wealth for everyone without government involvement - "the forces of self-interest, competition, and supply and demand are capable of allocating resources in society"

I think it's fascinating that China found a way of applying both ideologies at the same time.

Life / Is there something like a "Polish culture" or Polish national identity? [49]

If that was true, why is Poland somewhat lacking in world class athletes?

Dope! You're back! They're working you to death at that school man, you gotta visit more often, you know?

Come on and answer this lady's questions.

What is the true polish identity/culture? Also, if you'd be so kind, go ahead and please explain the "Plastic Polack" concept.

Off-Topic / So...which of you are actually IN Poland? [41]

I don't.

I live just right off the US coast in the Atlantic Ocean with a bunch of stuck up tuna fish.

Rough Polish translation:

Ja mieszkam w Hameryce z rybami w Oceanie które zawsze mają się lepiej.

Edit:

married to a Pole.

like a dancing pole? I hope you don’t tell that to anyone outside of this forum, anyway, I'm so proud of you for having the guts to tell us about it.

Hi Kasia24, what you need to do is to get in touch with delphiandomine, he is a very knowledgeable Scottish person who surpassed many Polish people in their knowledge of Polish society, national identity and culture.

What made you pick Poland for your school project? Why Poland?

Law / Does Poland have the most prehistorical and strictest banking system in the world? [57]

Does Poland have the most prehistorical banking system in the whole world?

Poland is behind in banking technology at least 20 years.

You my friend are behind the technology as well.

You can cash your checks online nowadays (on the web) at most US banks and then transfer the money to a Polish bank account (of course you gonna get charged a fee) it takes 10 min. All you need is a camera in your phone and the internet access.

Polonia / Poland and France cultures are similar [112]

I find that French and Polish cultures are very similar.

the same about Italy, Russia, Germany, Ukraine, Ireland and a few more. Every time i visit a European country other than Poland i find some similarities there. I'm sure you will come to the same conclusion when you start to travel more.

If you're looking for something exotic i think you should try Asian countries like for example North Korea. I'm being serious now.
