UK, Ireland / Sooo many Polski Sklep in the UK, LOL [64]

Is this just a deep-rooted need to assert ones Polishness whilst in exile? Signs of lack of self-confidence as a nation?

All this over a little ole Polish shop in London? What's the big deal? If you don't like it, don't shop there but why try to keep people who do want one from having one? Just let it be.

Travel / What do you think about hitchhikers in Poland? [33]

That's too provincial. Everyone should get out there and experience the world, with or without money. People should be able to interact with others without crime getting in the way. That is why I propose a network to help the weary traveler out :)

Otherwise, those hitchhikers spread a bad reputation to Poland with their bagging attitute and manners

Hitch hiking culture is needed everywhere, it's just some places are too unsafe. It's a shame. The adventurous wanderer is a romantic figure indeed. The world learns much from such free spirits. I admire free spirits above all others.

Travel / What do you think about hitchhikers in Poland? [33]

I think it's good that Poland is such a trustworthy place that people can hitch hike around, find hospitality and live that lifestyle without fear of being assaulted or killed. It would be wonderful if more places were like that. It's great to see the world that way. Hitch hiking can be work, you know? So can finding people to stay with online. All that takes effort :)

Life / Health system in Poland one of the worst in Europe: report [78]

There could be a pretty good doc in Oregon. It's nice up there. It's rural areas in the south and midwest that face shortages. Most cities can scrape together a handful of good doctors. Sometimes, patients will travel as far away as India to get treatment, though. People do travel if need be.

Life / Health system in Poland one of the worst in Europe: report [78]

Don't European doctors travel around, with the best ones going to the best locations? This, and lack of funding in certain areas, means the health care services won't be equal everywhere. Same problem exist throughout the world. Specialists like to go to the exciting places while ignoring the boring ones so shortages exist. Plus, they want to make the most money. They go where the fun and the money are. Funny how the most exciting places also pay more.

Life / Health system in Poland one of the worst in Europe: report [78]

Why is the same level of treatment,ie,knowledge and expertise, not available across the entire US.
If one person/unit can do something others can do it too,so why not?

For the same reason it varies across Europe.

News / What should Poland do to solve the population crisis? [101]

Well, I hate to break it to you, but there are more people alive today than have ever died.

There is a way to stabilize the world's population through planned parenting. It would help so many people. It would mean less starvation and poverty throughout the world while averting crises like the one facing baby boomers. Governments around the world should make it top priority.

News / What should Poland do to solve the population crisis? [101]

Polish government does not need to fix anything. It's a myth that populations must always grow or something isn't right. Populations should remain steady for many years, which they will do across the world in twenty or thirty years. Fifty max. This will be sustainable in the future without these baby boomer induced crises occurring like they do now. The last thing the world needs is another baby boom. The generations after will suffer like we are now, trying to figure out how to take care of all the oldsters.

USA, Canada / Polish or American Education? [180]

It's OBVIOUS why students score higher on these tests in certain countries. It all comes down to one thing. PREPPING. These kids are prepped to take these tests and score high. Finland does a good job of prepping it's students. Time spent prepping for standardized tests takes time from more important areas of study. But hey. To each their own.

You can spend an entire school year studying for one test but does that mean you are actually smarter?

Life / Teenage Pregnancy in Poland [108]

They are a death and the ensuing grief in themselves. Ask any woman who has had one. So absolutely vital that teenagers are locked up and not allowed alone together.

This. That is why birth control is important, not relying on abortion as a form of birth control. What about the rights of the zygote since it will either be miscarried or eventually result in a fully formed fetus? Why pretend like the zygote is nothing? If teens are raised with the right values, they can be trusted out in the world. No need to keep them locked up in towers.

Getting repeated abortions seems like an indication a person is in a state of crisis.

I don't think anyone is suggesting killing babies. Flushing out a zygote is much less cruel.

To some, life starts at conception.

Why do you think it's a good idea to have abortion after abortion rather than get the tubes tied? It might be just a zygote to you, but every time an abortion is performed, a woman undergoes an invasive procedure. Men do not realize an abortion is complicated and uncomfortable. Do you think it's a good idea to have multiple abortions?

What about a man who doesn't want to support kids? Why can't he have a vasectomy? Why not take the easiest route?

Life / Teenage Pregnancy in Poland [108]

Notice I said "where appropriate" - and that is for the National Health Service to decide. Money? No. Not for medical treatment, obviously. Any health risks have to be weighed up carefully by clinical professionals. Teenage pregnancy carries health risks as does a very young, poor and feckless person raising a child.

It costs taxpayers money. No such thing as "free health care." Somebody pays for it in the end.

Life / Teenage Pregnancy in Poland [108]

how many doctors would agree to sterilize a 16 year old if the kid asked them to?

I disagree. They seem more mature to me, and more apt to get into grown up situations, like drug taking and being sexually active. And every teenager is different. Some are flighty and irresponsible while others are much more responsible than adults. You cannot paint them all with one brush. It just depends on the kid. However, a good many of them are making grown up decisions about things like sex.

Really? You'd rather sterilize people to save them the all-in-all insignificant expense of buying condoms?

The ones that don't like kids. Don't want kids, Don't want to spend their money on any kids, yeeeeeah. What is wrong with that sentiment? It's time to get past the idea that sterilization is terrible and nobody would possibly want it.

As soon as they are old enough to say "yes" to having sex. Sex means responsibility.

Condoms are expensive, if people have sex a lot.

I propose making it just as easy to opt for sterilization as it is for pills or condoms making it a readily available option for those who choose it.

Taking the pill is drastic. Birth control pills contain hormones that are unsafe for some who take them.

Whatever changes a female body undergoes on the pill (and some of them positive) is nothing compared to tying the tubes.

Tying the tubes is perfectly safe, it keeps the ovaries inside the body.

They aren't old enough to do all those things, but they are surely old enough to have sex and get pregnant. They are old enough to take birth control or have abortions.
