Travel / Insights about winter in Poland. Polish winter during holidays as charming as spring? [21]

I read somewhere that Polish brown bears are currently hunting alot more meat as opposed to eating berries and insects...bear with me (no pun)......it is relevant...

The scientist say this is because our furry friends have sensed a long winter this season.

So if the cute little bears have got it right its gonna be cold and looooong.

I actually prefer Polish winters to those in the Uk because in Polska it is a dry cold as opposed to a wet cold which we have in the UK. Wrap up warm swallow your pride and don LongJohns.

As for driving I prefer it when there is lots of snow and ice because people are forced to slow down by the conditions.

Law / Polish business haven't got a clue: Discuss. [72]

expats here who work for mickey mouse Polish companies

I'm writing about SMEs, not language schools which are intrinsically mickey mouse.

It is the complete lack of understanding anything which I would classify as normal business practice is hair raising. What compounds the insult is the arrogant attitude which the bosses display, they are never wrong.

History / POLISH IDENTITY-shift from communism to democracy [28]

it was a mere formality for Poland to simply repeal the act of parliament which allowed them to join NATO and the EU.

A formality perhaps but the would have to find the paper work and that could take months.

So who is controlling Poland?

...the markets like everywhere else, governments control populations, markets govern governments. And Politicians hold on by the seat of there pants...

"their pants"...sorry..skool bouy eror

but the suggestion of Tusk and Kaczynski being on the same side is...well...

They aren't on the same side, but then again they are not in charge, it is called Divide and Rule, old bean.

They're in power because people elected them.

Come come don't be so naive.

The People (us) our votes are irrelevant. Democracy or rather the illusion of it is the best form of dictatorship, because people believe their voice count.

It is not until the masses revolt violently that change is effected. This only happens when they understand their voice is being ignored.

The educated ones have embraced Europe

And most of them have gone to the UK and Ireland.... leaving a paranoid uneducated majority..bummer dude!

The PO are in power because that is what suits Europe and the USA. International Politicians don't give a monkeys about Polska as long as it stay between Russia and Europe.

UK, Ireland / Free Polish/English Magazine (North East England) [10]

Poles produced here in the North East of England.

Who in their right mind moves to the North East of England?

how do Poles deal with the Geordie language ?

Same as the rest of us they don't understand f*cking thing!

i want info on the bridges over the tyne.

What are you planning?

i want a comparison between Newcastle and Gdansk shipyards.

They both went bust and closed down.

can i write something for the mag...

..smacks of desperation. It is an obscure publication produced for a minority in Geordie land where the average reading age is about 12 years old and the Polish community specializes in plucking chickens....

a how it used to be type article.

Well, it used to be sh!t in Poland and not much has changed, a bit like the North East of England. Bang there is your similarity.

USA, Canada / A Canadian citizen overstayed Visa in Poland [35]

You have to know which clerk to give a present too, I'm surprised you haven't learnt that yet!

Over the past few years, many wheels have been greased with vodka, chocolates, coffee, hard cold cash. The trick is knowing who you have to see, that is the tricky bit. If you aren't connected you are screwed.

News / Upping the speed limit in Poland [92]

Only Italy has more fatalities on the road than Poland. Which is understandable as Italians are mad. (fun, but utterly nuts). Whilst Polish people are not generally crazy. I have often wondered if it hasn't something to do with the catholic que sera sera mentality.

Alternatively are cars a means for disempowered young men to regain some control and exert some aggression?

And also what about this two way middle lane that seems to exist and why do people with SUV drive right up my arse and flash their lights at me. Why do people with expensive brand new BMW's and Mercs park where ever they want.

In the town where I live, there are three Hummers, several Cayannes, lots and lots of Q7's, X5' X6', GL and ML class Mercs not to mention the plethora of BMW's and Mercs flying around brand spanking new!!!!!! Its like Essex!!!

In the development where I live one of the couples who have a 30 sqm flat and drive a new Porsche Cayanne, what is that about ??????????????

Rant rave, rant, rant rave.......

Up the speed limit let the bastard kill themselves, just well away from me.

Life / All Saints' Day in Poland - Commemoration or Carnival? [44]

But a few people said it was because young children quite often get bored visiting the cemetery and can be disruptive so this was to keep them amused.

Sounds reasonable, however, I doubt the vendors were thinking of the kids in anything but monetary terms.

Life / All Saints' Day in Poland - Commemoration or Carnival? [44]

My nephew's local priest has been telling him that Halloween is the devil's work and that dressing up and collecting sweets (tick or treating) is evil and bad.

meanwhile

"Police say that 39 people died on the roads in Poland over the All Saint’s weekend, with 1880 drivers caught in charge of a vehicle under the influence of alcohol. " The News.pl

So which is the devils work?

Commemoration, carnival or carnage?

As a practising Satanist, i spent my day eating sweets and watching movies......ooooohhhh evil me... muuuhahhahaha
