UK, Ireland / Estimated number of Poles in Ireland thought to exceed 200,000 OR over 5% of population. [200]

SOME OF US DIDNTWANT THE POLES TO LEAVE AND SOIUTH IRELAND AINT EVER GONNA BE UK

Some ain't enough. And i hope that Ireland and the U.K will realise what they lost when all the poles decides to leave the island that threats them like cattle.

1) As I said, this minority attitude exists, during recessionary times, in all countries that have a sizeable immigrant workforce.

That attitude have been there all the time.

2) How do you think, attitude -wise, Middle Eastern refugees would fare in Poland then? or any other refugess for that matter? a lot worse than in Ireland I would imagine.

We ain't rich enough and don't got a wellfare system that support lazy people.

3) Certainly won't be begging for anyone to "come back" in the near future as there aren't enough jobs to go round as it is.

You will when those 200.000 hardworking poles will be replaced by 200.000 Middle eastern refugees that will show you to finges as fast as you ask them to maybe ean a living.

4) Plenty of Poles didn't have a problem living off "tax money" in Ireland you know - they weren't all working.

Kidding me right?

You will for sure find some examples of lazy poles but compared to your own natives they ain't even close to living off "tax money".

and before any1 say anything I am not judging the Irish It is just sum folks but you would be surprised with how many people say that the country is downn the toiets cause of the poles

I seriously hope that the poles will be replaced with Middle eastern refugees that just sits at home with 10 children and lives on your tax money :)

After having them for a while you guys can send us a big apology letter and beg us to come back.

It's a really ugly mentality that "great" britain got towards its hardworking emigrants.

News / WHY IS POLAND STILL GIVEN THE COLD SHOULDER? [197]

There was opposition to the communists in Poland after the German occupation but there were too many Poles who supported the communists. Poland was a divided country and Russian support pushed Poland over the top into the communist camp. Now 50 years after this debacle of course, a lot of people deny being communist supporters.

Ever heard of Propaganda and brainwash?

In the villages it was not easy to resist a job at the factory and get an apartment. After the war people were poor and to get a job you had to join the Communist party.

There was so many benefits being a communist in those days compared to not be one in Poland at that time. If your not with us then you're against us.

Genealogy / Jalowiecki coat of arms and title inheritance? [21]

bollocks

yea? So how do people do nowadays? Do they go to the knight house and ask for permission to use their coat of arms ? I don't think so.

I can explain my statement if anyone is interested in the question of coats of arms, szlachta

Explain what? Only way to use your coat of arm is to put it as a middle name. No way that the Polish goverment will grant you any kind of papers that you are a noble.

I know plenty of poles that put their Clan name as a middle name.

If some of the geedy ones that bribed the foreign courts 200 years ago to gain a title want to regain it today, i think they need to tavel to those countries and maybe if they ae lucky they will regain it.

Genealogy / Jalowiecki coat of arms and title inheritance? [21]

I think the farest you can go is to use your coat of arm as a middle name. you go to your countrys court or something like that and ask for a name change.

So lets say your name is Max. Then you could change it to Max Lodzia Jałowiecki.

This is how most of the poles that were szlachta before ww2 are doing , since after ww2 when the Commies took over they abbolished all the inheritance rights the szlachta used to have.

But to be accepted among the other szlachta families in Poland you need to have certain noblilty documents that all of them that were "worthy" rich enough gained during the 18th century by the foregin courts that ruled Poland at that time.

News / WHY IS POLAND STILL GIVEN THE COLD SHOULDER? [197]

Poland wasn't stabbed in the back. After the German occupation in the 1940's a large contingent of Poles were communist. That's why you became a communist country. The Russians would have never been able to subjugate the Poles without their consent.

Kidding me right?

Food / Polish vs. Chinese cuisine. It's all about a pig. [7]

Dunno, both countries enjoy pork? ...alot? :)

They started to bred this pig in 1816. Don't know if Poland was famous at that time for its taste for pigs. Must have been something else! Could it have something to do with the solidarity the world felt for Poland after it's partition a couple of years earlier? But then it would have been named just "Poland"

But why Poland China?

Food / Polish vs. Chinese cuisine. It's all about a pig. [7]

It's not about the difference between the Polish and Chinese cuisine. It's about a pig...

Im deadly serious!

The Poland China is a breed of domestic pig. Poland Chinas rank highest in U.S. pork production.

Could someone please explain to me why this pig is named after two countries that doesn't have ANYTHING in common?

I find this kinda hilarious xD

News / EU presidency to cost Poland 110 million euro [33]

And let's not forget that net inflows from EU development programs into Poland have amounted to FAR more than the EUR 110m figure

Yes indeed but 110m euro is a lot for a country like Poland. Poland don't got money to play around with like some countries seems to have.

So if Poland were overlooked you be complaining

Im not against the EU presidency, im against of the costs and the small benefits that you gain by it.

If being for 6 month the center of the EU won't make any impact on Polands standing then what will (besides the coming football EC)...

The Polish entrepreneurs i hope.

Something the polish goverment need to work on is how it spend its money. I would like to see more money thrown in to the education system and science.

And in others it is a very real and seriously good for Poland.

Indeed it is.

News / EU presidency to cost Poland 110 million euro [33]

Can they take it out of the 65 Billion (milliard for the Poles) that the E.U. is giving Poland?

Very funny ;)

I have a spare bedroom if Obama is stuck.

He have been ignoring Poland during his whole presidency so i got a feeling he will continue to do so.

Yes, countries need to feel empowered in the E.U. not dominated.

In some aspects EU is a joke...

News / EU presidency to cost Poland 110 million euro [33]

Poland's Ministry of Foreign Affairs will spend 110 million euro during the country's EU presidency in the second half of 2011. It's also been revealed that there will be a shortage of accommodation for visiting delegations to Poland during that time.

Poland will hold the EU presidency for half a year , but already now preparing entered a decisive phase. Foreign experts have designated more than 500 issues of importance to the EU , which will have to deal with representatives of the Polish . For the period between July and December 2011. Planned 150 events . Most of them are conferences and meetings of politicians and officials from the EU, who have to prepare and lead the Poles.

The need for this about 1,200 officials whose training has just begun . They must learn to negotiate and conferences in English and French ( the working languages of the EU ) and to meet EU legislation and decision-making mechanisms.

Is the EU presidency worth 110 million euro? It is indeed a prestigious thing but still i don't think it would make any diffrence on Polands impact in europe.

News / WHY IS POLAND STILL GIVEN THE COLD SHOULDER? [197]

Yes! Why ? It's time for Poland to get a hot piece of ass!

Ehm wrong thread? xD

Do you think that 1000 years of history should be taken into account before judging someone in our lifetime?

Indeed in the end we are all individuals. But people especially brits ain't judging the individuals in Poland. They just see the "Pole" therefore i recommend people to read up some on the polish history and maybe learn a thing or two about the "poles".

Ask him how many years he's acually spent living in Poland?

Would my answer make any difference in this conversation?

Ohhh... I bow to you ohh magnificient super f.ucking brain...

Thanks, not often people bow for me. But i guess that's something i could get used too ;)

This thread is just another "pitty me pitty me"

Kidding me right?

You should buy a polish history book and learn something about the country before accusing poles!

There you go! amazon.co.uk/Poland-history-Adam-Zamoyski/dp/0007282753

Hell yes, nothing a Pole likes to do more than bit.ch about no one respecting them.

Could't care less if people respects me or not, only thing that irritates me is the ignorance some people have.

Real Estate / Polish Property Attracts Investors With Better Returns Than London, Paris [5]

since local pension funds are prohibited from owning property

How come?

domestic money managers lack the money to purchase large, new office complexes and malls.

Just give Poland a couple of more years and you will see that we will be the new Estate Barons!

Real Estate / Polish Property Attracts Investors With Better Returns Than London, Paris [5]

European real-estate investors are lining up to do deals in a market where they can find better returns than in London, Paris or Berlin: Warsaw.

"Everyone looks to Poland for better yields," said Barbara Knoflach, CEO of Frankfurt-based SEB Asset Management AG, which paid 93 million euros in March for the Trinity Park III office building in Warsaw. "The Poland story is a mixture of its size and the belief that it will become one of the more important countries in Europe."

bloomberg.com/news/2010-10-20/poland-may-raise-rates-after-inflation-touches-bank-s-target-chart-of-day.html

Seems that Poland will be the big playa in a couple of years!

Soon they will not talk about Paris, instead Warsaw will be on everyones lips!

News / Giant Jesus Rising in Świebodzin ( Tallest in world ) [323]

Why is no-one fuming, fulminating at the mouth and lashing out in hysterical frenzy at Rio de Janeiro's statue which inspired the one at Świebodzin?

Could be that Rio is a huge city and Świebodzin is a small town. Plus Rio's Statue is build on a mountain, not a small hill. It will just look comic to build a huge statue in the middle of nowhere...

Świebodzin
Rio de Janeiro

If I ever win the lottery, I'm going to erect a statue of Lucifer somewhere close to that one, with the angel wings and all.

HAHA a 35m tall Lucifer statue would for sure bring aloot of tourism to Swiebodzin!! Not exactly something you see everyday ;)

I think you drastically underestimate what something like this will bring to the town.

It will just look ridiculous.

Imagine a 35 m tall Jesus behind this Ratusz!!!

.

COMMON the town is too small.

Do you have a problem with the statue?

Yes it just shows that the poor ppl are still under the influence of the church.

You aren't paying for it.

Thank god im not!

You aren't Polish.

I'm

And you surely don't live in Swiebodzin and don't have to see the statue every day on your way to work.
Also, the statue will attract tourists and inject more money into the economy.

Tourists? maybe one or two Pilgrims will visit the place.

seems to demonstrate that you are opposed.

I just don't see the point of building it in a small and unimportant town. Krakow would be my chooice.

My advice, if you don't like it, leave the country.

Same goes to you ;)
