Genealogy / Are Poles aware of Thracian aspect in original roots of Polish ethos? [69]

I would rather think along the lines of a new Hanseatic League....founded on trade and building wealth and security together (the forerunner of the EU if you ask me).

It's also between peoples of similiar culture and outlook (and we can leave the whole southern Europe mess out).

While being driven in a car through the streets along with French Foreign Minister Louis Barthou, a gunman, Vlado Chernozemski, stepped from the street and shot the King and the chauffeur. Barthou was accidentally shot by a French policeman and died later.

The latest info suggests that Copernicus was Polish and German but virtually all of his studies and works were Polish including his militant defense against German aggression.

Read the thread again about his "polish studies"....and there wasn't "german agression" at that point....

Well....I must admit I learned that german VIP's also regularly flew crowded in one plane before...I really thought we were smarter than that.

Only luck kept something like Smolensk from happening before.

Now a law is planned to prohibit that...we need laws, you know! ;)

Well, I can actually see a reason for it as he served his country with his death probably better than he ever did alive.

As I learned in years during my time here on PF history/Katyn matters enormously for Poles, regardless where they come from. This catastrophe he and so many others paid with their lives for made now actually sure/hammered home to all news agencies and millions of people world wide what happened in the woods of Smolensk 70 years back. Something he and many other Poles fighted for without much success for years already...that is an achievement!

It was a high price to pay and quite unvoluntarily but still...

We are talking politicians here so very few. Alex Salmond of the SNP. He is a powerful speaker and as genuine as you can get. I'm surprised he hasn't said more about mourning and condolences.

He is Scot, isn't he? One of those you know of course very well from your home.
I only wonder how you can with such a security judge politicians from foreign countries you have no idea of...you don't know about their domesting problems, their home electorate etc.

I wouldn't dare to judge scottish politicians as "worms" because I don't have a clue about scottish politics...

Leaving NATO and EU? Because that would be the only way to not be "bothered" by other western leaders?

Do you wish for Poland to be isolated? Without any alliance? Or in a union with Serbia? ;)
Forget a moment that Serbia too seeks closer relationships with such "losers" like Merkel, Brown and Sarkozy???
