Work / Men in child care (creches/nurseries/kindergartens) in Poland [17]

I have never seen a male teacher at Polish przedszkole but there were a few at my elder kids primary school.

I had a great male teacher when i was about 8 - sadly hit the bottle when his wife left him and died an early death :(

I try and have Dad time wit each of my kids at least a couple of times a week, even if its just a walk in the park and a pizza. I se quite a lot of Polish dads do the same

How did this thread survive the night without becoming a discussion of rape gangs and sharia law ?

News / Polish Independence Day March in Warsaw. Is it going to be the biggest march yet? [1530]

I am not going to open any of those lest my youtube feed gets filled up by simple minded ranting idiots in tight t shirts.

It is fine to have a parade and drink and take drugs and sing your teenage songs. Just dont pretend it had a higher purpose- Many countries in central Europe have their independence day on the 11th of November but few of them feel the need to put on their bomber jackets and Drink 6 litres of warka strong

News / How will BREXIT affect the immigrants in UK and Poland. [1114]

She also said she would not call an early election and then called one.

In th current parliament there is no majority for any kind of Brexit, soft hard blind or no deal. No deal will bring down the govt. so there will be either another election or another referendum. Screeching u turn is coming from May

Law / EU citizen and marriage in Poland - legalization difficulties? [2]

I don't know where you heard that. It is certainly untrue - the same formalities apply everywhere in the country. If you search the forum There are lengthy threads about the documents required but your situation is unusual in that neither of you is Polish - prepare for a world of pain with official translations

Yes but the slight problem is that what tgey are sending home now is worth 45 percent less than it was a few years ago. Probably about a third are well settled with kids in school but the rest are very mobile.

It would cause political chaos ? What the hell is the situation at the moment ? a government with a majority of 1 that has not passed any significant legislation in 2 years, propped up by religious nut jobs, Scotland talking about another referendum and the opposition a rabble who are surpringly popular in suggesting a return to the 70s.

Not much but some - they has to remain in post to implement it and report to the Euro member governments, of course if you look at the markets now people are happy to sell pounds and buy Euro so it can't be such a terrible affliction.

But in any case it is off topic to this debate - the UK had a permanent exemption from joining the Euro.

Not dreaming - it is already reality - Germany exports to UK, population 66 million are EUR 94 billion. To Poland Czech and Hungary - combined population 61 million they are much bigger - EUR 130 billion. And guess which one is rising faster ?

Now if you were sat in an office in Duesseldorf where would you be focusing your efforts ?

Anyway you have conceded the economic arguments are non existent so now maybe tell us the political benefits and when they will happen ?

Maf, of course only the people that vote count. What will make this one a case study for centuries to come is that it is a one time vote that the winners had no accountability for implementing. Another stress is that most taxpayers both individual and corporate voted heavily to remain and now have to pay for a fiasco foisted on them by the old and the the poorer section of society.

Cant speak for rhe others but i am neither lazy nor a socialist.

The Germans have plenty of other markets - exports to Poland Czech and Hungary - 60m people - are far higher than to the UK.

You present no advantages economically.

Politically it is a disaster- the country paralyzed for 3 years, the union threatened and Britain losing respect in the workd.

Littles Law in action - small increases in processing transactions can quickly lead to huge backlogs of trucks - anybody who remembers Slubice at holiday time pre 2004 will know what is in store for Britain. At times they stretched for 30km

Already Non Schengen borders are getting very busy - The one in Warsaw airport is very chaotic now at mid morning and early evening. Some British airports are horrible too - had awful times recently waiting in passport queues in Luton and manchester

What you call "clean" is in fact incredibly chaotic - millions of people in legal limbo, huge holdups at the border, a further crash in the pound, massive areas of regulation needing to be rewritten and all to the background music of a weaker economy and the biggest companies either leaving or contracting.

The EU might break up but does not look that way at the moment - I guess the other 27 countries (it is not just Germany and France) will find a way to plug the UKs 9 billion hole - it actually works out at 20 euro a head for each of the remaining 450m EU citizens so it is hardly an insurmountable obstacle. Again this is a Daily Express fantasy.

Britain Does have a car industry - however Jaguars and land Rovers are not really a practical choice for most of the people that voted for Brexit.

When it comes to small cars then all of the people are producing Britain now are thinking of pulling out due to the disruption to their supply chain.

As for food then Britain will have to import food - this is been reality for more than 100 years due to the density of the population.

You are truly a fantasist if you think that this is not going to have a significant negative effect. There might be political reasons for leaving me but there are no economic advantages at all.

Yes the EU needs Britain so badly they gave May all of 15 minutes to talk about Brexit at their summit - about the same time as me deciding whether to shop at Biedronka or Lidl.

Of course imports will continue - you can live without wine and olives but it's more difficult to get by without cars and tomatoes. The difference is that they will cost more for British consumers to buy.

And the effect on the financial industry will be catastrophic- which will lead to a huge fall in the UKs tax base.

It's a huge screw up but given that you say you can remember pre 72 that puts you in the category of people who don't need to worry about their jobs.

Life / Political correctness in Poland [210]

Right there Dom - mind you when Rich has been stuck trolling in a basement all day it's no surprise that his knowledge of economics is from a dusty old commie era textbook he found being used as a doorstop.

Please stay on topic

The elements of US life built by white Christians are those which are now most problematic - uncompetitive smokestack industries, dysfunctional politics, banks that needed bailing out, falling down infrastructure.

America's biggest exports now ? Facebook, Google, Amazon and high finance all very driven by immigrant and Jewish brains. And of course when it comes to your cultural exports we have Jay Z and Chicago's own Chief Keef instead of whatever trashy TV was on in the 50s.

Doubt it - I reckon on a per capita basis Chinese, Jews and Indians in the US pay more tax and receive less benefits than some dudes breakfasting on opioids in Appalachia

Work / Poland - Corporation in corpo, what to do if you work for 4 languages and you are not paid for? [7]

Are you paid a fixed amount for 168 hours ? If so then of course you have no rights to extra cash for extra duties unless it means you either doing overtime or travelling.

Your thing about taking sick days on purpose is pretty weird for a Polish manager. My guess is if you have more than say 10 sick days a year you are already on his list of problems. He will have a limited budget for pay rises and he will obviously give it to the hardest workers or most valuable people.

As Don says it's a free market here so take your many talents to another company if you think you don't earn enough.

Life / Have any of you ever been to any of the Pijalnia bars in Warsaw [19]

A few ways - they talk to people which increases happiness, they put other problems into perspective, it calms people down in small doses, it is a place to meet dates which leads maybe to sex which makes people happier, it makes people sing and dance, it makes people meet new folk and have different conversations which can make them smarter.

I know that is different from the Russian experience of drinking blinding industrial spirit on a bench at the tram stop so maybe if you ever come to Poland you can try it our way.

Life / Have any of you ever been to any of the Pijalnia bars in Warsaw [19]

I quite often make a pitstop at the one on Nowy Swiat - its lively and half the people are foreigners but i never saw any fights there. At least everyone is drinking angmd having a good time, not just staring at their phones
