How would Poles react? Serious question here...

I would be fine, nothing wrong with being proud of your country and nation, historic mistakes have been made under flags , but that does not make Germany unique amongst nations'

Germany has plenty of things to be very proud of, especially after WWII, Germans are generally warm and hospitable.

That was a serious answer, I for one would not connect the German flag to the Nazis or to WWII

It's no different to seeing the German flag flying or being waved at the Olympics or any other sporting event.

I have no problems with the Italian,Russian of British flags either If the people want to march to celebrate freedom or winning the world cup then fine.

to be Polish, you have to like censorship

Errm yes if it involves half naked adults prancing around the street simulating sex , but never mind you are from a different background where you have been educated to accept deviancy as a norm.

So we are clear.

de·vi·ant
1.departing from usual or accepted standards, especially in social or sexual behavior.

I will not reply to further posts that deviate from the main topic.

Why don't gay parades have a place in Poland ? We either have free speech or we don't

If you were Polish you would know the answer to that question.

Gay parades are NOT the subject of this topic if people want to discuss gay parades can you please post in the appropriate thread.

Anyway as I said the postmortem in Mondays press will be interesting.

Commies, you say? Well..

That was a gay parade, and that's not the topic of this thread, gay parades have no place in Poland, but gays have always been tolerated but not promoted, men in leather chaps snogging with their bare bottoms hanging out have a place in France,Germany,UK but not Poland, Sorry that's the way it is.

Opposition groups are planning to block the march

That would be fun to watch, you going?, I'm booked Wroclaw, I think the mayor banned it?, but sounds like people are going to march anyway.

Lol new leftist mayors in the cities trying to ban marches (like the commies did), the news on Monday should be interesting...

Don't think it will be as dangerous as London who had six stabbings this week.

News / "It's too late for Germany" (but not for Poland) [1798]

The Allies certainly did just that.

But interestingly your whole argument rests with the "Allies" being a legitimate independent legal entity The problem is Russia was part of that agreement, and as we all know they swallowed up a independent nation (Poland) so the argument is that their rulings were unfair and biased given the Russians as an Allie was a hostile occupying force in Poland.

Now given that the United nations was founded in the same year one could argue that ant treaty should have been agreed there, and not by a random few nations with their own agendas, especially the Ruskies who had enslaved Poland.

Interesting huh.

Delph do you mind not using allies because it involves the Ruskies who had simultaneously invaded Poland as part of a pact with Germany, just a polite request but in means a great deal to us Poles.

Actually I'm not sure if the war is over for Poland, was the legitimate Polish government in exile party ever a signatory to any agreements that involved Poland at that time ?

Why is not Italy not considered an Allie, after all they did the same as the ruskies and changed sides?

Poland received some of the best German lands in lieu

Yeah and some of Poland's best lands were taken in the east, mine included, so I can't see how your arguments holds water.

If Germany had not started the war then none of the loss of Polish life land and destruction of whole cities would have occurred.

I live in as you call it the best German land, but I had to pay cash for it, my family has not had a penny for loss of life, incarnation in labour camps or the loss of our land in the east all due to Germany's invasion.

Do I want any cash from Germany .. NO I want peace and friendship with the German people, do I want German politicians to keep their noses out of Polish politics, Yes please.

Many of us are still wary of Germany, I hope this changes over time.

The reparations thing will die down as soon as German politicians learn to keep their noses out of Polish politics.

German people are fine no problem.

Tax-Euro for some Dolno? For sure!

Ahh thats nice Dolno would also pay some tax money for Bratwurst, but Dolno doesn't work anymore and Brexit has ruined what could have been something really great.

All this Polish reparation stuff is all about posturing over court judges and migrants, everyone will back down in the end and we can sit down in Gorlitz next summer and enjoy the food weather and good life, and we can talk about Britain and how great a country it once was before brexit, maybe we could organise a collection for food parcels.

Spikes ok I think, just a bit spikey, I'm sure he would join us for dinner, Dolno will pay out of his British pension fund (If it survives post Brexit), if not the tabs on you guys.

funds are revisited

Germany can afford to take up the slack, that would be a great gesture and would strengthen the bonds between her closest neighbours, we in Poland would be very happy.

ECHR has ruled that the Federal Republic isn't a successor state to the German Reich

That's handy, having the slate wiped clean as to put it, So why is Poland left with the bill to pay reparations to families who lost property in WWII, seems a bit one sided and unfair to me. or am I missing something?

about the role of the Church in those times

Yep interesting along with the role of the Vatican in WWII, there is a history of rouge popes from the Borjas, to todays questionable replacement for another living pope.

As to war, well the blame for that sits with the politicians and despot leaders that threw their people into the mincer for their own gain.

Nothing changes to this day.

Polish forces from the Posen province took part in the Battle of the Somme against the Allied forces?

There you have in a nutshell the difficult situation Poland was in trying the find allies to gain independence, Poland once allied itself with napoleon in the hope that the french revolution would spill over and in some way free Poland.

I find at times its tough to see Poland fighting against the allies, but that's very much to do with the brit in me, the reality for Poland was that it was surrounded by imperialists that just wanted to control and rule Poland, I guess at the time Britain would be seen as imperialists alongside Germany as nations fighting over the trough of empire.

God bless and lets remember all the souls that lost their lives in those horrendous battles, some fought for the greed of their rulers , some fought for their own freedom and nationhood.

Poles were also were also fighting for Russia and Germany In WWII, but with no real choice as in WWI.

Pilsudski took the opportunity of WWI to disarm the German,Austrian and Russian occupiers and proclaim the II Republic, but critically he held off the Bolshevik hordes who wished to be the next rulers of Poland to further their communist ambitions of world rule.

No doubt that foreign parties were involved to allow Poland to stay independent after WWI'.

I guess knowledge of Polish history was not required when you gained citizenship.

Sorry, I'm a Polish citizen that pays taxes in Poland, why would I care about what happens far away?

Along with millions of other citizens who are proud of their nation and heritage and a prepared to come out in large numbers to celebrate their independence.

Remember the citizenship that was granted to you was hard won by patriotic citizens who had a spine to stand up and free their country from imperial rule.

You on the other hand appear to be a soldier of fortune, moving from one country to another for economical reasons, for some reason you appear to have a mindset to undermine your host country.

This above trait can be seen in so many other migrants that have arrived in Europe in recent times, the damage an consequences of not properly vetting potential citizens is clear for all to see.

future of Poland,

If you look at the first picture you posted above, tell me what is wrong with marching to denounce communism and nazi's

The banner reads No Nazis, No commies with the Polish eagle in the middle.

Are you aware that Nazi's and commies murdered millions of us.

Does it cause you pain to see the hammer and sickle being rejected so publicly.

I think so, and I have a feeling that some of the negative elements during the march are in some way protesting against authority as they did in the bad days of communism, but really their is no place for extremism in Poland today.

Yeah I have found Poland different, certainly different to the picture to me as a child, some good differences and some bad, on the whole my wife and I love the place., we feel safe here and that's huge.

You could do the same as Dolno.

Hmm however good your credentials or ability to speak the language, as an past exile there will always be an element of feeling that you are in the limbo of the second republic, and at times your ghost ship from Anders army, is struggling to anchor comfortably in today's Poland.

Herbert von Karajan !!! gonna have to google him , Eurovision ? :D)

Only thing is, who will steer the ship of state with any of her practical experience?

Great point I have been banging on about Angela on this forum for years, I now will have to worry about her replacement, it might be a case of jumping out of the frying pan into the fire, ooops

I notice that in Poland some are only interested in themselves, shame if Poles are no longer interested in their history, heritage and the skills that served them well for hundreds of years.

Maybe the commies did a better job of re-education and pacification than I had thought, what need of remembrance of independence if no one is interested.

Yet, are not the same, it was lost some time around Napoleonic times.

Oh dear would you still use a flintlock rifle, the Szabla was last brought up to date in 1934, last used in 1939 it dates back to the 16th century.

" Polish-Soviet War was a conflict in which the cavalry's mobility played a decisive role." , does that war ring a bell Polish Independence?, weapon of choice Szabla.

Here is some more on the subject of our history (If you are at all interested in it)

And she has to counter that with what? Her brain?

Yes and 3bn euro funding that Turkey won't get unless they listen to Angela, basically her wedge of cash is bigger than their d*cks.
